Badgers vs Warhawks?

Instead of Woffrd, whyy not pay Whitewater to come and play?

Maybe a larger visitor seating area.   ;)

Or a louder canon.

An interesting idea that would be an incredible windfall for our athletic department.  The things we could do with that kind of money.

Yah,
Maybe a stadiu reenovation for the Perk including a seven story high scoreboard - maybe a dome?  ;D

The article talks about Northern Illinois as comparable to UWW.  NIU just beat Purdue last week and played Wisconsin close this year.  NIU is a FBS school with a full compliment of scholarships.  UWW is good, but I doubt that they are on the same par as NIU.  Just as MUC is not on the same par as Akron, Kent State, Toledo, and such.  I always wondered how MUC would do vs. Kent State, but think they would struggle due to the speed and size of scholarship athletes.

Kirasdad,

There have been times in over the last 16 years that MUC could have held
its own against some MAC schools and maybe even won one!

How many National Titles does WWW  have? I am not sure. WWW
is probably as large as Northern Illinois (students).

NIU=25,000 students
UWW=10,500 students

(I'm an alum of both)

Your guy isn't that popular in this parts,  raider.   He's a tremendous talent but we remember him as the guy who pouted like a baby when he lost.

I'm guessing that is why he ran right over to our board with the video.   ;) I watched the TD last night and was thrilled for what his success means to D-3 but there is part of me that still remembers watching him sulk on the sidelines in 07 while the rest of his team was on the field congratulating the Warhawks.

Can't confirm or deny what you are saying I have not been able to get a copy of the '07 game. I think you have more memories (nightmares) of him then that. I prefer to remember the '06 game view seen at left. And be happy for one of the few D3 guys makin' it at the top. Stanley too for that matter.

That loss may have been a driving force as he moved on with his life......I think that loss was as tough as they come.

I know he thought finishing his degree was important enough to come back and complete it after last season. Props for that!

Hope you picked him on your fantasy team? ;)

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Allow me to help you find a copy.  The TV camera made a point of showing him standing on the sidelines while the teams shook hands on the field after the buzzer.  Be sure to click on the "more info," for a nice clip of Beaver.  ;D

That loss was as tough as they come, really? After already wearing two Championship rings?  How do you think the seniors on the 06 Warhawk team felt?  ::)

BUT, I do wish him all the best.  As I said before, his success is good for D-3.

And only days before the Rams play in Green Bay...what a shame, but that's the nature of the NFL.

That's too bad about Derek Stanley. You'd like to see a good kid like that succeed. I hope someone will keep us posted.

That is simply a bad dream for some of us.....Derek waived and Garcon the winning touchdown. Many of us certainly appreciate Garcon's huge talent but he was and always will be a punk in our eyes.....and he earned it with a solid punk performance over two years.....Good luck to Derek he was always a class act......

I refrained from commenting about Garcon, but I think you and Fan413 summed it up nicely.

Stanley waived by the Rams just a couple hours after he had completed a phone interview with Daily Jefferson County Union sports editor Jeff Seisser. Stanley was excited about playing his home state Packers this week in St. Louis.  Stanley's first NFL game was against the Packers in December, 2007 - the same day the Warhawks were capturing the 2007 Division III Championship.

http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/09/22/rams-sign-amendola-waive-stanley

Stanley had success in kick return duties finished fourth in the NFC and 10th in the NFL with a 25.5-yard kickoff return average as a rookie in 2007 despite limited playing time.

Last year, in week 12 vs. Chicago, Derek returned six kickoffs for a 32.5-yard average...recorded a 75-yard kickoff return, the longest of career.

Stanley's "career day" was in his rookie season vs. Pittsburgh when he returned a season-high eight kickoffs for 229 yards (28.6-yard avg.) had two returns of over 40 yards including then career-long 49-yard return that helped setup a WR Isaac Bruce touchdown reception.

Nice to see talented former UWW reserve and Dubuque transfer RB Justin Spaulding making an appearance on the D3 Team of the Week.  Spaulding had 253 all-purpose yards in a loss to Central, rushing 30 times for 157 yards and a touchdown and catching three passes for 96 yards and another score. To think he couldn't get on the field for the Warhawks.  Kinda puts UWW's depth strength in perspective when you see something like this.  Makes me wonder if other, talented players unable to get on the field for UWW, might see this early success in new surroundings and opt to transfer, as well.  They probably won't be part of a national championship caliber team - but to each his own.  Congrats to Spaulding.  Interestingly, he wasn't even Offensive POW in the IIAC this week, that went to a RB from Central.
