Voice - I say this periodically, but some forget, and others maybe don't believe. I am a proud resident of the cheese state, but have much fun tweaking those who get too full of themselves, and enjoy being tweaked in return. My tongue is almost always planted in my cheek, but that doesn't mean I don't speak some truth. And, by the way, I'd like to think it was the first of your choices. I have great respect for the WIAC in general, and UWW in particular, but even you have to realize that sometimes it gets a little too much for we Johnnies to bear, and we have to bring out the needle. ;D

Ret, there is absolutely no sense of humor on this board, especially since flash quit drinking.

I refer to the WIAC board as the Land of the Hyper-Literal.   How can one be hyper-literal ("He was like literally hyper-literal."  "Totally.")?  You go looking for literal definitions (literally) and are unable to realize that a statement can have meaning beyond it's literal surface meaning (again, literally).

Stanley waived by the Rams just a couple hours after he had completed a phone interview with Daily Jefferson County Union sports editor Jeff Seisser. Stanley was excited about playing his home state Packers this week in St. Louis.  Stanley's first NFL game was against the Packers in December, 2007 - the same day the Warhawks were capturing the 2007 Division III Championship.

http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/09/22/rams-sign-amendola-waive-stanley

Stanley had success in kick return duties finished fourth in the NFC and 10th in the NFL with a 25.5-yard kickoff return average as a rookie in 2007 despite limited playing time.

Last year, in week 12 vs. Chicago, Derek returned six kickoffs for a 32.5-yard average...recorded a 75-yard kickoff return, the longest of career.

Stanley's "career day" was in his rookie season vs. Pittsburgh when he returned a season-high eight kickoffs for 229 yards (28.6-yard avg.) had two returns of over 40 yards including then career-long 49-yard return that helped setup a WR Isaac Bruce touchdown reception.

Damn! Damn! Damn!! Fingers crossed for Derek.  A stellar player and individual.

Look on the bright side, do the Packers need a good return man? He might still play in Packerland.

Also look at the bright side if you are a Packers fan you have a Mount guy running your defense! ;)

Further bright side stuff if you are a WW guy you have a Mount guy running your offense! ;D

Further, further  bright side stuff you may have to face the Raiders in the playoffs.......oh thats not a bright side. :o

Sorry, As Emily Latella might say.......Nevermind!

Arrogantguy, I mean Raiderguy. Believe me there is nothing UWW wants MORE than to play MUC in the playoffs. Face it, MUC is not the team they were last year and UWW is stronger.  MUC was fortunate to win last years Stagg Bowl with supposedly one of their "best teams ever", Micheli, Kmic, et el. I didn't say lucky, I said fortunate. Because they were.

Hard to be afraid of a team when you had the edge in time of possession (34:17 to 25:43) First Downs (31 to 15), Yardage (455 to 401 with 24% of MUC yardage coming on 2 plays in first 6 minutes of the game) 3rd Down % (50 to 45%). UWW also scored all 5 times they were in the red zone.

With statistics like that, a team is fortunate to win period. And the other team has no fear of playing them again.

If you were on the MUC defense getting pushed all over the field in the 2nd half last year, you wouldn't be pretending UWW should be afraid of MUC.

I see MUC was tied at halftime against Northern Ohio ( a 5-5 team last year) last week.

Wow, MUC 09 is really scary.

no offense but, might want to win more than 1 out of 6 to be so cocky...UWW is a great team/program now, but Mount has a pretty good history of reloading not rebuilding....you have a long way to go to be compared to Mount.  UWW has lost more Stagg Bowls to Mount than Mount has lost total.  UWW is great but come on now, its week 3

OMG - you complain about the lack of humor here (as if the reason we come on here is to tickle YOUR funny bone!!  ::) - how's the air up where you think you are stanbob?) and then leave us with this nugget of attempted humor. Say it ain't so???  Anyway, I was having trouble thinking of who your brand of humor reminded me of, then it hit me Lt. Wow. Bleed Purple that may be even over the top for me......We have only beat them once and whether we could of or should of really doesn't matter, stats don't matter, number of all americans is meaningless....in the end what matters is who is holding the trophy up at the end of the game.....With luck we will face them again this year and it will be a different ending but it is a long and difficult road there and the important piece of the puzzle is to get there first.... so focus first on this weeks game against CPS and Pound the Rock.....

Wow, I have not seen it broken down like this before.  I just remember losing by 5 points after having a 2X AA kicker miss 2 fieldgoals.   ;)  But, regardless, if a team wants to be called, "Champion," they must find a way to get it done and the Warhawks did not last year.  But I have to believe that after losing in 07 and winning in 08 by a reasonably close margin considering all the stats, there are some MUC fans that hesitate to, "count their chickens before they hatch."  UW-W fans must resist the temptation to do the same thing in regards to the 09 season.  Lots of football left to play in the Wacky WIAC.

Sakman, I had already typed this post when I saw yours.  Great minds think alike and all that............ ;D

Let's not get ahead of ourselves.  Too much can happen between now and December to do that.  Fortunately this sort of bravado is the thing of message boards and no one on the staff or the team think like this.  They only all too aware of the difficultly of the task that lies ahead.

Two things to remember Warhawk fans.  Pound the Rock and One Game at a Time.  That has been a pretty good formula for success for Willie Warhawk.

Arrogant....hardly...earlier this month for another post I had gone back over the stats for last years Stagg and quite frankly said "how the he$$ did we win that game" for all the reasons that you stated. But........ a win just the same.

More accurately how did you loose that game with stats like that. That would be the bigger question. (See Dolphins vs Colts for another example) TOP 15min vs 45 min. It's all in what you do with them.

That was certainly not one of Mounts "best teams ever" because we only brougt back 6 starters from the '07 team which I would consider a much better squad. WW handled the '07 team in that game and you won and you deserved the victory. Enjoy it.

It's a 60 minute game made up of two halves and most of the time ya gotta play all 60 minutes. If I was the WW defense that was playing in the first half I am not sure I would want to face that team again either.

If your panties get in a wad over a little banter about '09 so be it.

Let's see ONU has a victory over the #4 team in the country in week 1 vs Dickinson State and Midland Lutheran.....who? Those teams really strike fear and a high level of competition. Enjoy those victories.

True, Mount is not as strong as they were last year because of player graduations, we all have them. Especially loosing two multi year AA's and Stagg MVP's.

It will take some time to get them up to speed or not. A QB with 40 passes last season and a freshman Qb, and new RB's too helping the Raiders stumble and bumble down the field. You know all about finding a QB! ;D

This much I do know, Mount will continue to stumble and bumble one game at a time, until someone tells them to stop.  ;)

So you figure three losses mean nothing to our guys?  Yet to a man they shook hands and congratulated the winners.  Adversity defines character.

Tough break for Derek but those of us who wear WARHAWK PURPLE are proud of what he accomplished.

Rather like the Johnnies losing to Whitewater three of the last four years. It can't be fun, and it's hard to let it go.
