Sorry, I thought Southern Oregon was DII.   ::)  The NAIA team we beat handily was Southern Nazarene.  I stand corrected and yes, we are looking forward to having Southern Oregon at home this year!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

What UMHB has accomplished in the brief existance of their program is remarkable and I'd never include them in a discussion of teams unwilling to schedule us.  With one exception the games have been hard fought and we've had our share of good luck to prevail.  Plus their fans who have visited here are classey.  I just wish they were 1000 miles closer so we could meet more often.

I can't speak to the MIAC or CCIW but nobody in the MWC will play us.  Believe me, we've tried.  We thought we had something going with St Norberts but a couple of lopsided games ended that for the second time.

Stanley waived by the Rams just a couple hours after he had completed a phone interview with Daily Jefferson County Union sports editor Jeff Seisser. Stanley was excited about playing his home state Packers this week in St. Louis.  Stanley's first NFL game was against the Packers in December, 2007 - the same day the Warhawks were capturing the 2007 Division III Championship.

http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/09/22/rams-sign-amendola-waive-stanley

Stanley had success in kick return duties finished fourth in the NFC and 10th in the NFL with a 25.5-yard kickoff return average as a rookie in 2007 despite limited playing time.

Last year, in week 12 vs. Chicago, Derek returned six kickoffs for a 32.5-yard average...recorded a 75-yard kickoff return, the longest of career.

Stanley's "career day" was in his rookie season vs. Pittsburgh when he returned a season-high eight kickoffs for 229 yards (28.6-yard avg.) had two returns of over 40 yards including then career-long 49-yard return that helped setup a WR Isaac Bruce touchdown reception.

Damn! Damn! Damn!! Fingers crossed for Derek.  A stellar player and individual.

Look on the bright side, do the Packers need a good return man? He might still play in Packerland.

Also look at the bright side if you are a Packers fan you have a Mount guy running your defense! ;)

Further bright side stuff if you are a WW guy you have a Mount guy running your offense! ;D

Further, further  bright side stuff you may have to face the Raiders in the playoffs.......oh thats not a bright side. :o

Sorry, As Emily Latella might say.......Nevermind!

Arrogantguy, I mean Raiderguy. Believe me there is nothing UWW wants MORE than to play MUC in the playoffs. Face it, MUC is not the team they were last year and UWW is stronger.  MUC was fortunate to win last years Stagg Bowl with supposedly one of their "best teams ever", Micheli, Kmic, et el. I didn't say lucky, I said fortunate. Because they were.

Hard to be afraid of a team when you had the edge in time of possession (34:17 to 25:43) First Downs (31 to 15), Yardage (455 to 401 with 24% of MUC yardage coming on 2 plays in first 6 minutes of the game) 3rd Down % (50 to 45%). UWW also scored all 5 times they were in the red zone.

With statistics like that, a team is fortunate to win period. And the other team has no fear of playing them again.

If you were on the MUC defense getting pushed all over the field in the 2nd half last year, you wouldn't be pretending UWW should be afraid of MUC.

I see MUC was tied at halftime against Northern Ohio ( a 5-5 team last year) last week.

Wow, MUC 09 is really scary.

Arrogant....hardly...earlier this month for another post I had gone back over the stats for last years Stagg and quite frankly said "how the he$$ did we win that game" for all the reasons that you stated. But........ a win just the same.

More accurately how did you loose that game with stats like that. That would be the bigger question. (See Dolphins vs Colts for another example) TOP 15min vs 45 min. It's all in what you do with them.

That was certainly not one of Mounts "best teams ever" because we only brougt back 6 starters from the '07 team which I would consider a much better squad. WW handled the '07 team in that game and you won and you deserved the victory. Enjoy it.

It's a 60 minute game made up of two halves and most of the time ya gotta play all 60 minutes. If I was the WW defense that was playing in the first half I am not sure I would want to face that team again either.

If your panties get in a wad over a little banter about '09 so be it.

Let's see ONU has a victory over the #4 team in the country in week 1 vs Dickinson State and Midland Lutheran.....who? Those teams really strike fear and a high level of competition. Enjoy those victories.

True, Mount is not as strong as they were last year because of player graduations, we all have them. Especially loosing two multi year AA's and Stagg MVP's.

It will take some time to get them up to speed or not. A QB with 40 passes last season and a freshman Qb, and new RB's too helping the Raiders stumble and bumble down the field. You know all about finding a QB! ;D

This much I do know, Mount will continue to stumble and bumble one game at a time, until someone tells them to stop.  ;)

Raider,

First of all, my panties are not in a bunch. Much like John Winger (Bill Murray"s character in Stripes), "Chicks dig me because I rarely wear underwear." My post had one point: UWW is not afraid to play MUC in the playoffs. That is simply a fact. I then supported some of the reasons for it.  So for stating that, You believe my panties are in a bunch.

I never said MUC will stumble and bumble, you did. I never said they didn't deserve to win the Stagg Bowl. They did. I simply refuted your implication was that UWW playing MUC in the playoffs would be "bad news". It wouldn't. First of all, it would mean that UWW makes the playoffs this year. In week 3, I wouldn't presume that no matter how strong I believe the team to be.  Secondly, a meeting with MUC could mean another Stagg Bowl appearance. Thirdly, I'm quite sure every player on the UWW roster wants to play Mount. They are the best and what better way to win the National Championship? More good news.

So you see, my panties are not in a bunch. I haven't even owned any since a rather kinky part of my life in the 80's. And what I said was not an affront to the mythological Kingdom MUC worshipers affectionately know at "The Mount".  I don't mind your humorous, little ARROGANT digs. I simply like to counterpunch what I perceive to be arrogant or out of line digs at UWW. As my HS coach told us, "When I ignore you, then you can worry."

no offense but, might want to win more than 1 out of 6 to be so cocky...UWW is a great team/program now, but Mount has a pretty good history of reloading not rebuilding....you have a long way to go to be compared to Mount.  UWW has lost more Stagg Bowls to Mount than Mount has lost total.  UWW is great but come on now, its week 3

Purplesuit,

Are you serious, or are you a fan of some other school trying to make MUC fans look bad?  I contend that UWW is not afraid to play Mount and you believe that is cocky. No offense, but I find that kind of funny.

Now, the truth is that I am rather cocky. It's hard not to be when you are me. But that post wasn't cocky.

They certainly do but no where near as much fear as juggernauts Heildelberg and Muskingum.  ;)

Ummmm. I believe he was talking about the opponents that aren't in-league games.  ;D

However, I have no problem with scheduling easier out of conference games if I were playing in your league.  That is no joke.

Can't help who is in the conference, just gotta play who's there same as you but don't call me out on a team in conference on score at half time. That's the problem with Bleedpurple, he wants to talk about halves of games and not the final score.

Oh that's the least of my problems, Raider. But all that aside, I'm glad to know that bugs you. I'll be sure to file that and use it again.

Not only does MUC dominate your team in football, but their supporters dominate yours in class.  Must be mighty frustrating.

Hopefully it'll be an injury free game, heading into conference play.  :-\

sorry, you're right cocky wasn't the right choice of words.  I don't believe I ever said that UWW was afraid to play Mount, proven by the regular season meetings not too long ago.  I guess someone just has sour grapes about the Stagg Bowl still, which is kind of sad in a way.  I'm sure that the Mount crowd is happy to be "fortunate" enough to have those 10 national championship trophies in the case.  Hopefully, we'll be "fortunate" enough to maybe win another one...fingers crossed.  You're post was pretty lame, and I'm sure most of the level-headed UWW fans would agree.  Take a deep breath buddy, its only week 4 of the season.  Enjoy the long season ahead for your warhawks and maybe our teams will be...wait for it...fortunate to meet up yet again.

Now this is funny. And you ARE a Mount fan! Unbelievable.

Let's clarify some things PS:

1. Apology accepted.
2. "your right". Yes I am. In fact, I am pretty much always right. (Now THAT could be considered cocky. It just happens to be true.)
2. No, you didn't say UWW was afraid to play Mount. You responded to a dialogue I was having with PurpleRaider in which He initiated a friendly jab at UWW fans regarding the fact that Mount has had great post season success against UWW.
3. The post you responded to (mine) didn't say UWW was bettter than MUC. I went out of the way to say MUC wasn't lucky because they weren't. My post didn't say UWW should be compared to MUC. You brought that into it.
4. Now you are acting all offended because I used the word "fortunate". Even Raiderguy admitted as much when he posted, "How did we win that game?" Maybe you should tell us what words we can and can't use when we post about the hallowed "Mount". You could be the language police. If you do a good enough job, maybe you can get a job in the Jokebama administration.
5. So I make a post making a simple point that UWW is not afraid of MUC. You then respond:

A. I am "so cocky" (forgiven, not forgotten)
B. "You have a long way to go to be compared to Mount."
C. "UWW has lost more Stagg Bowls to Mount than Mount has lost total"
D. "Someone just has sour grapes about the Stagg Bowl" (as if "fortunate" is a word demonstrating bitterness)
E. A reference to 10 Championship Trophies in Mount's trophy case. (with another reference to the new f word,    fortunate)
F. "Hopefully we'll be 'fortunate' enough to win another one." (There's that dreaded f word again)
G. "Your post was pretty lame and I"m sure most level-headed UWW fans would agree" (I haven't even SEEN a UWW fan with a flat top since the 60's. And now you're speaking for them?)

bleedpurple: UWW is not afraid of MUC
PurpleSuit: A through G above.

And YOU tell ME to take a deep breath!

Seems to me that's a little like Rosie o donnell telling Jessica Alba to lose weight.

Relax, Suit. Loosen the tie. You'll survive one school and their fans not being intimidated by the mighty Mount!

no worries, the tie has been loosened.  I don't really worry about UWW fans being intimidated by Mount.  Almost all of the UWW fans that I have ran into in Salem have been great and respectful.  There are a handful of schools that have beaten "the mighty Mount" once, and none but one fan has acted like a jackass.  hmmm, wonder who that could be?  I actually hope that you didn't graduate from UWW, because that would be a disservice to the great alumni that I have met at our Stagg Bowls.

WOW, WTMI.....seems I have found something that has bothered you too.....Have you seen someone about this?

Have a great season. ;)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!
