Nice job, Pat!  Hilarious to hear him talk about the vocal fan bases of MUC and UWW already planning a date in Virginia!  Guess the voices of many of us who keep preaching that there is way too much football left to play in the WACKY WIAC to talk about December have been drowned out.  How does that happen on a message board?   ;) ;D    Like BW always says, good thing the players and staff understand the tough, long road ahead!

Seems weird to not have any conference games until October.

You two need to get a room!  Or a Discussion Thread of your own...

I agree, this sounds like a middle school locker room with all the "who's afraid of who" talk. Nothing matters but who wins the game.

Raiderguy and PurpleSuit,
I agree with Kirasdad and others. Thread was way too long over minutia. Bottom line is MUC was an amazing team last year. My opinion is that they were fortunate to win the Stagg Bowl. Not lucky nor undeserving. I will give you the parting shot if you want it. I'm moving on.

UW-River Falls wins big over Alma 40-27----Alma's a pretty good team ---they may have ran the ball two or three times all day---All Shotgun.  i don't think they realized how hard teams from the WIAC HIT!  Both of their 6'6" wide receivers didn't play in the second half due to injury---UWRF also had two INT. returns for TD's

Stout is next!  Here comes the implosion of all the WIAC's beating each other up----Let's see who is left standing. Hopefully, the lower tier of teams(UWRF, UWS, UWP, UWO) can make some head way---I hope that we can finally have some talk around here about someone other than the UWW bandwagon group. ::)

From an article on Warhawkfootball.com about Derek Stanley:

"Derek tweeted (on twitter.com) Tuesday afternoon "Interesting tuesday for me...its a business! Then Tuesday evening Stanley thanked the many who had contacted him following his release by tweeting, "Thanks everyone for your support...God bless all of you...Joy comes in the morning!"

Always a gentleman and a class act!  Good luck to you, Derek.  You've made the Warhawk family very proud!

If Team A wins the "stats game" over Team B with 37 FD to 15, and 630 total yards to 389, would Team A ordinarily win the game? What if Team A completed 52/84 passes, but had 5 interceptions?

Those are some of the interesting numbers involved in the Falcons (Team B) 40-27 win over Alma College (Team A) this afternoon at Ramer Field.

Alma uses a no huddle, quick strike passing attack which seemed unstoppable early in the game. Not once did the Alma QB line up under center. He's very good, but few QB's/teams can win with five interceptions, two of which were run back for TD's. One run back was officially 99 yards, the other 80 plus yards. Ben Arata, Falcon DB, ran back the 99 yarder, probably a Falcon record, and had a blocked field goal try. Is that good enough for Defensive Player of the Week awards at RF/WIAC?

Offensive Player of the Week at RF will probably go to Whitewater transfer Taylor Edwards with 251 yards rushing. Can one team have WIAC Player of the Week in both offense and defense? Probably not.

It's Stout vs RF at Menomonie next Saturday, and I'll have to miss it. I'd rank it a tossup.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

I forgot  to mention that Steve Marich, Falcon DE, ran back the other interception 81 yards, had four  tackles, one for a loss and one for a sack. Maybe he's the Falcon Defensive Player of the Week.

From the land of Oktoberfesters - UW-L totally dominates Missouri Science & Technology on both sides of the ball this afternoon, pitching a 48-0 shutout... That Miners had not been shut out in 70 straight games...

The score could have been worse; two Eagle drives stalled when MST INTd passes in the end zone. On the other hand, two of the only three scoring opportunities the Miners had were also halted by Eagle INTs... The Miners' last two drives of the game got down to UWL's 10 both times, but they were thwarted with one of the pickoffs, and a sack.

UWL's secondary is looking good, and the D held the Miners to 214 yards total yards. UWL's offense mixed plays well and played a lot of pitch and catch - put up 500 yards total... Reid Oldenburg scored three rushing TDs....

UWL is 3-0 and will host Oshkosh next Saturday night in its conference opener.

I'll probably have more to say on the MIAC Board, but UWW was fairly unimpressive as I saw it today. Except for their first two drives, they played very uninspired football. I did leave after the fourth UWW TD. Also, I'm not sure if looking as blase as they did, and still winning 42 - 7, is an indictment, or high praise. I would think that even My UWW "friends" would say they more or less played down to their competition.

Retagent,

I agree with you.  I felt like today's game did seem to be lacking something. Uninspired may be a pretty good word for it.  Honestly, I felt like the defense didn't hit like they usually hit and the offense didn't execute all that well. In my opinion, (and probably the coaching staff's opinion as well), UWW will have to play much better and with much more fire than they did today if they are going to win the WIAC this year. It looks like LaCrosse is back strong,  Point is Point, and the rest of the WIAC teams always have that "any given Saturday" potential. I don't even know what to think of feeling this way after a 42-7 victory. Maybe my expectations are ridiculously out of hand, but I expected more consistency in sustaining drives and stuffing defense than I saw today.

Glad I don't feel way out on the limb by myself. Having not seen either of their other games, I have nothing to compare today's game to. Unless this type of play continues, we can just chalk it up to "Stuff" Happens.
