Hey LAX and Oshkosh fans........We've got a big group of high school football players and parents coming down from Cannon Falls to watch the game.  Most of us have little or no knowledge of what are the teams strengths & weaknesses, players to watch for, etc.  Like to hear from both sides.  Comments??

I can only speak on what I've seen and read about UWL so far - they have implemented a no-huddle offense, so have been working out the kinks in that... Put up 48 on a D2 school last week, so they've ironed out things as the season has progressed... Tailback Reid Oldenburg is fun to watch; he's gotten the majority of the carries and has posted 441 yards and 7 TDs in three games... QB Nick Anker is adjusting well, has completed 58 percent of his passes, but isn't afraid to run, either...

On the defensive side of the ball, the secondary has been playing really well; it shut out a pass-oriented team last week...

Haven't played since 06' so things have changed a bit since. The offense has since switched to a spread and I only know a handful of the players...in fact I only played with one current defensive starter which is LB James Taraboi. Sounds as though he's made steady progress over the past few years and was always a hard worker in the offseason. Offensively I have heard rumblings of the high potential of RB Jeremy Roach. Defense runs a version of the 4-3...the unit will be very technically sound as long as Coach C is around.

Wish I could give you more but I guess I'm well past my prime  :-\

Best of luck to the Titans as they have had our number for a long time...

They brought in 11 different players and signed just one and it was not D. Stan.

Thanks DBG...I don't like the Lions anyway  ;) !!

When they've won 1 of their last 20 games, how can a fan of any other team (except now the Skins) not like the Lions?! :D

After last week's UWW game, I expressed some uneasiness despite a 42-7 victory. It was a hard to define sense that they were not "sharp" or "in-synch". I even had a tiny sliver of a concern they may not have been "WIAC ready".

After watching today's game, I realized exactly what the problem was last week. I'm crazy! I would seek help tomorrow, but I think just watching the game straightened me out. GREAT GAME UWW.

It was a great defensive battle at Menomonie today.  Both D's came ready to play.  River Falls had 2 goal line stands that limited Stout to 2 field goals instead of 2 touchdowns in the first half.  Stout only gave up 1 touchdown in regulation.  River Falls went for the win on a 2 point conversion in overtime and Stout's D was all over it.  I would have liked to see it go the other way but great effort by both D's.

Blugold "D" definitely needs to pick it up ... but Jenkins is the best WR I've seen since Schroeder! 7 TD's in his last 2 games vs Eau Claire.

'Golds down 35-13 at H ... closed to within 2 at 35-33, but Jenkins took over from there.

bp, I only watched/listened to the video stream, but these are my observations on a very solid performance for game 4:

UWW offensively - Donovan looked really dialed in and literally in mid-season form...  Receivers ran excellent routes, showed good hands...Donovan showed really good field vision, and, for example, was making on-the-mark throws before the receivers made their breaks on out routes, placing the ball where only his guys could get it, and generally made it look effortless, 21-24 1 TD 0 INT 0 sacks...it was nice the way the TE's were involved in the passing game, too...Coppage ran hard and when the Pioneer D was able to catch up to him, it took multiple defenders to bring him down...The TD where he changed direction and outran the DB's to the corner of the endzone was a thing of beauty...CJ Miller looked really hesitant in his limited duty - granted, he didn't have many holes to go through in his 2 series at the end of the game, but Coppage scored the before mentioned TD w/o an opening...hopefully Anderson will be back from the injury soon.

UWW defensively - made things rather difficult for UWP's frosh QB...2 INT's wiped out due to penalties - couldn't tell from the video if the 2 against Shumpert were penalties but the late hit out of bounds was a bang bang play and could have gone either way.  Regardless, these penalties, especially the major ones and on turnovers need to get cleaned up before the Warhawks play a stronger team (sounds like a broken record)...Lane Olsen in the first half and Supianoski in the second really led the charge with some solid hits on bubble screens - btw, how many bubble screens did Platteville run?  Seems like at least 15 or 20?  What's with that? And they weren't very successful anyway (I guess nothing goes well in a lopsided loss)...just a strange offensive game plan for Platteville, IMO...I've never been as comfortable with an opposing QB completing 26 passes as I was today...the 29 yard completion on 4th and 7 from the UWW 39 was Platteville's longest play on the day & not defended very well. What made it worse was the fact that the Pioneers were so out of sync at the time they had to burn consecutive time outs 1 play before this w/o running a play.  But the D recovered nicely, didn't give up any additonal yards and held UWP to a chip shot FG. All-in-all, 4 games, giving up 1 TD and 2 FG's - defense is getting the job done!

Not a comment about this subject but I have been meaning to comment about your video. I especially like the block in the back at the end of the play.
It also was done with emphasis and in style right in front of the official. ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Never noticed that before, but I have to agree raiderguy.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Had a great time at UWL last night.  Did lots of tailgating (had to go to Myric park because no grills on campus!!!!!  That rule needs to change)  Saw a great game in the new facility at UWL.  Had about 30 of us from our high school .  Oshkosh put up a good fight for most of the game.  Our athletes got to meet some of the coaches and players.  Fun time.

I know he's one of raiderguy's "favorite" warhawks... ;)

In all honesty, it was a rather wimpy effort for a block in the back...unlike #32's face to face with Mr. Ely.   ;D  The ESPN guy, Ray Bentley, even had a good time with it.   :D

Note to football fans:

When your favorite part of a play is one of your own players taking a shot in the back with "emphasis and style".... you know the rest of the play didn't go real well for you.
