Beaver released from the Saskatchewan Roughriders. tough to compete with former DI running backs...

Best of luck to him

Not running Beaver down but that is pretty lame isn't it.  Fred Jackson has competed with them all.  He had to pay some dues but worked his way to Buffalo.  If Beaver has the heart, time, and patience there is no reason he wont be back.

Jackson is an exceptional talent.  But he is, exactly that, the exception.  Aside from Jackson how many DIII running backs are there in the NFL?  I don't know of any.

Jackson has size.

Congrats to the Warhawks and #33....382 yards is absloutely awesome combined with 3 more touchdowns. The Oak Park River Forest connection at UWW has been simply great. Way to go #33 and Oline keep Pounding the Rock......

Apparently Point doesn't like wowing the Homecoming crowd...  Last year, they won 3-0 against Platteville in the Homecoming game!

I guess they only like "wowing" their opponents homecoming crowds, for instance, last year at Whitewater.    :-\   ;)

As in smashed it!!

Are you surprised he was left in the game to break the record by 100 yards?  He was basically running at will through a sieve called the Eau Claire defense.  The guys upfront for the Warhawks had a lot to do with it.  But that was one, very porous defensive unit. We might see the exact opposite next weekend.  But, I have this gut feeling that the Warhawk coaching staff (this one & the previous) seem to, for lack of a better word, "protect" individual game records - like TD passes thrown or rushing TD's etc - they prefer to have a player tie a record than break it. Anyone else have that feeling? I realize it's rather difficult with rushing yards to arrange for a tie, but to have him break it by such a large margin appears out of character for the Warhawk team. He did however break the record with so much time remaining and the game still in question, if that matters. Anyway, I wonder if it has anything to do with the Anderson injury - he wasn't really ready to alternate drives with Coppage. Giving Anderson 1 carry to start the game and then sitting him until the final drive for 2 more carries (& a TD) makes it rather interesting.  Where's CJ Miller been?

My best guess is that Leipold was trying to reserve a spot on the D3football team of the week for both the O line and Coppage?  And WIAC Conference POW for Coppage.  ;)   ;D   :D

Bobo.....I think members of the prior and current Warhawk offense will tell you there is really no focus on setting records and keeping players in a game.......it was that way with Beaver, Burns,Wurth, and now Coppage in recent history. You don't take someone out of the game that has the kind of rythym going with the offensive line that #33 had yesterday.....that would simply be ridiculous. Great job by the Oline yesterday with a tremendous effort and demonstration of what Pounding the Rock means.......The last drive sealed the outcome and that was the time to take Coppage out.....and that is when he was subbed......

Jeff Schebler is one point away from tying the NCAA DIII scoring record for a kicker.  Unfortunately his second field goal attempt against Eau Claire hit the right upright and bounced away.  Also our fumble on the EC three yard line prevented another score so he'll have to go after the record on the road.

The WARHAWKS last drive went 99 yards and took over 10 minutes off the clock.  It was a thing of beauty.   Eau Claire had the best offense we've seen so far but they can't do much standing on the sidelines.

In addition to Coppage's single game rushing team record effort Eau Claire's Cory Sartorelli set EC's career rushing record.  He needed 39 yards (I think it was) and finished with 77 yards.

Question:  What is it with LaCrosse at Platteville?  They just don't seem able to get it done down there.

I was glad coach Leipold stuck with Coppage even after the two fumbles....it appeared that Levell fumbled on both plays trying to get extra yardage at the end of the play...hopefully he will learn to hold the ball a little more securely in those situations

Gee BoBo, It's bad enough when someone like me doesn't get the humor in your post, but surely Sakman must be legally blind to not have not seen your, "Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Know what I mean, know what I mean." at the end of your little barb.

Looks like Borland and company held Sartorelli (a very talented RB) in check to just 75 yards on 3.4 yards per carry.  :o Great job by the D-Line. I missed the game, so i'm just taking a glance at the box score. i see whitewater only punted once that afternoon. Offense looked efficient as usualy (minus a couple of turnovers)  :-\

Stay healthy and keep pounding the rock.

And so the unpredictibility of the Pioneers begins and along with it, the Eagles.  This one caught me totally off guard.  La Crosse is 4-0 killing a   D-2 team and then loses to Platteville?  I must say, it gives me a little bit of a relief.  I was nervous already about going into the Eagles new nest the last game of the year with both teams undefeated.  At least they don't look quite so bullet proof anymore.   :)

Well, I was at the game and at times, it felt like he was running all over us.  Glad to see the actual stat.   Great job DEFENSE!
