I guess my private school education didn't equip me to make myself more understandable to public college grads.

To all you WIAC/UWW whiners.
Maybe a little less condescending when you make your points would help all the stupid, public college grads like myself understand your points better.

What would be the fun in that? ;D

Yeah, how can you prove you're elit(ist) if you don't talk down to somebody?

Well....

You could list every Championship since 1918 from a different sport in your signature.

BoBo, since I lived in West Long Branch, NJ many moons ago, I too am aware of that Monmouth College. But, since I am Minnesota born and bred (bread), I knew of the Illinois Monmouth first. ;D

Damn retagent, we might have been nearly Jersey neighbors, depending on how many moons it was for you.  When I worked at USMAPS (that's West Point Prep to the uninitiated -- "...when 12 grades just weren't enough...") in the late 70's, I lived at Fort Monmouth in Eatontown.

But me, being a Badger born and bred, I never had a inkling that there was a Monmouth in Illinois. I guess this is the difference between an elite, private school guy like yourself and an average, public school guy like me.  The only thing I remembered about Illinois was that it was the place we went to get margarine.   ;)   :D   ;D

This is too spooky. We may have been more than neighbors.

I was stationed at Ft Monmouth from March 1975 through March 1977. I stayed in the area until March 1978, when I got my second career started. I was 54th EOD Detachment Commander. I also played on the West Point Prep School Flag Football team that won the Post Championship in 1976. I also played a bit of pick up hockey with some of the Prep School students and Cadre a few times. I was good friends with Skip Loucks, a 1Lt who was assigned to the prep school, and we lived in the BOQ across from Scriven Hall.

BoBo

I got to USMAPS in the summer of 1978. I taught in the mathematics department -- trig, calculus -- introductory stuff since you know most of the students there were basically below average or average at best in math. After two academic years, I was off to Italy.  I was back in the area at West Point for 2 tours.  First, in the mid 80's and finally, in the late 90's before eventually retiring a couple years later & staying in Korea.

Your EOD background explains a lot... ;)   ;D   I promise not to bust your chops too much from now on.   ;)

I guess our ships just missed passing in the night. We'll have to get acquainted down the road, maybe when the Johnnies meet the Warhawks - again, or if not, at another UWW game.

Don't stop. As I said, what would be the fun in that?

On another front, if any of you want to see some good high school football, and maybe get a line on some new Warhawk possible recruits ( I don't believe I'm helping retain your prominence here) get up to Eagle/Palmyra (from whence the Gagliardi Trophy winner, Justin Beaver came) to see a very good Walworth Bigfoot play, I believe, Friday 10/23. They are ranked #3 in the mid size school poll, and have some bruisers up front, and some very good skill position players. QB (#22), RB (#21) a decent TE and WR.

I know this is only marginally football related but I wanted to get the word out to as many WARHAWK FANS as possible.

Work on Prucha Field at the newly named Jim Miller Stadium has been steadily moving forward and is nearly completion.  Though there is still some grass to sod the place looks really sharp with the new field turf, backstop and outfield fence.   As a part of Homecoming weekend, October 24th all fans are invited to join the staff and team to get a look at the renovated facility and for a tailgate party prior to the WARHAWKS football game against River Falls.  The tailgate starts at 10:30am with food and beverages provided.  At noon we'll make the short walk to Perkins Stadium for the game and then reconvene at Jim Miller Stadium afterward for a social.  Ex-WARHAWK player Kris Hanson will be honored as he enters the UW-WHITEWATER athletic Hall of Fame.

UWW should have been preseason #1 anyway.  Voters probably saw the close score vs. Capital (or watched the internet broadcast) and finally realized that Rocco and Panchek are not Micheli and Kmic.

Voters always knew that. What wasn't clear was whether the other 19 or so returning starters could pick up the slack.

It appears the biggest drop off has been in the running game. Rocco is currently ranked fifth in the country in passing efficiency, not too shabby. Panchik is avg 89/yrds game, good for 64th in the country.

Everyone, including the voters knew that the running game for Mount was not be what it was with the leading rusher in NCAA now graduated. The two seniors are not doing too bad. What many do not know is the two backups will be outstanding for the next few years. Every great team like Mount and UWW go through the period of adjusting to new people.

Pat's Surprisingly Close Game of the Week:

Pat's take: "No. 2 UW-Whitewater at UW-Stout. Marcus Ball was clearly back at full strength last week at defensive end for Stout, recording three and a half tackles for loss and two fumbles against UW-Stevens Point. Whitewater running back Levell Coppage will be facing a defense that allows an average of 111 rushing yards per game, and that includes 224 by UW-River Falls, which needed 52 carries to do it."

I might have to agree

What are the chances we'll be seeing a little more Antwan Anderson this week?
He didn't look that healthy in his very limited duty last week.

Stout's defensive pressure seems to have a few UWW backers concerned.  I'd like to take this in a differenct direction and ask the Blue Devil faithful if the UWW offensive diversity has similar concerns being addressed (secretly) by them?  This ain't no Eureka that'll be coming at you!!  ;)  Curious how you guys view the match-ups? Being offensively challenged (2 FG's last week against a D that gave up over 30 to EC), will the Blue Devils be able to score enough & keep UWW in check to pull a major upset?

Probably won't hear much, BoBo, because the main Stout backer hangs out on the MIAC board.   ;)  Speaking of BDB, is the radio show going on this morning? I should have thought of it sooner.  Probably missed it.   :'(

With how the last two games between UWW and UWS have gone, Stout can keep the UWW offense in check.  I am not as worried about UWW as I know if UWS plays like they can, they can win the game.  Stout needs to finish their plays and drives and I think they can give them a run for their money.

21-3 UWW at the half. demoralizing TD to close out the half for the Hawks!! Looks like Whitewater's D is out playing Stout's D. whitewater's line is keeping Ball in check so far. i haven't heard his name called all that often. Donovan threw his first pick of the year, sounds like b/c the WR fell while running a timing route.

Great half, 'hawks have yet to punt.

On a side note, there are some top 10 teams that fell today....
