If I recall correctly, Mount Union and UW-La Crosse played an NCAA playoff game at Camp Randall Stadium.  I'm guessing it was in 1994 or 1995 and I think the reason was UW-L's field was too muddy and Camp Randall was the only artifical surface possible at the time.  I lived right across the street at the time and remember seeing a bunch of football fans entering the stadium, and I had no idea what the event was.  That was before my D-III elightenment.

1996

WSU,

Mount Union has played Wisc. La Crosse 4 times:

1992  LAX wins 29-24
1995  LAX wins 20-17
1996  MUC wins 39-21
2003  MUC wins 39-14

Had to have been 1995
13 time Division III National Champions

I thought the 1995 playoff game was in Alliance?  I'll go look it up, but 1996 sticks out to me.

UWW beats River Falls 38-14...in a game that wasn't that close...

River Falls had about 106 total yards through 3 quarters.

Donovan was picking apart the RF defense.

Stevens Point up next...finally here!!  ;)  :D  ;D

The Hawks never really got a good flow to their ground attack today but the passing game was extremely efficient. Jordan Wells made a spectacular laid-out dive for a TD catch.  Donovan had lots of time to throw the ball but a couple of times the defenders hit him low and he came up limping. Breathed a sigh of relief when he walked it off each time.

Talk about efficient, after the football game I went over to the volleyball court to watch the women take on Coe. However, when I got there at 2:30 (the match started at 2:00) the Warhawks were in the middle of the third game and a sweep of the match! In all, it took them about 40 minutes to dispatch of Coe.

The bigger volleyballl win was Friday nights 3-1 win over undefeated, #1 ranked UW-Oshkosh.  It was a great match and the atmosphere was wild.  Students packed the volleyball gym after the homecoming pep rally upstairs.  They were incredibly loud.

I noticed that on only 1 play as I watched the video. But, by the next play, I felt it didn't amount to anything.  He was fine and played on as if nothing had happened. As someone who's had multiple ankle/foot sprains, strains, and breaks, I looked at it thinking that Donovan put weight on it thinking the worst after being hit that low.  I've done the same after getting it twisted.  I'm so used to injuring it I always think the worst has happened ~ and feel fortunate when it feels ok. Maybe it was only me, but it appeared the RF defense was going low on him all day.  Something to do with Donovan's 6' 5" frame maybe, I don't know.  In any event, the irony in your statement, Barber, is the fact that the Warhawks o-line were the ones penalized for blocking below the waist. I didn't actually see it on the video myself, but no one raised a stink about it. Thankfully, his arm was untouched!  ;)  19-27-353 3 TD another pretty good stat line for Donovan.  He forced the INT when he should have put a little more air under it.  His receiver had beaten the 3 nearby defenders, but Donovan tried to go through them.  No luck.

8,169 on the attendance...not bad for late Oct ~ Homecoming helps

Congrats to Aaron Rusch for breaking the career receptions mark of Jim Leszczynski.  #3 had seven receptions for 127 yards. He now has 163 career catches, Leszczynski had 162. Rusch also moved into third place on the school's career receiving yardage list. As only a Junior, he will continue to launch his assault on the top spot in that category and leader Derek Stanley.

********

Congrats also go out to Levell Coppage, with 2 rushing TD's, he is now tied for second in career touchdowns.  He has 37 to tie with Chad Wurth.  Justin Beaver is the career leader with 44. Coppage is only a soph. It's quite possible....

Bobo, it is quite possible that Coppage breaks the TD record this year  :o

He's quite the touchdown machine. We have to re-name the endzone Levell's neighborhood!!  ;)  As much as I enjoy the way #33 runs, I really wish AA could get healthier to share the load.

38-14 is about what I expected, but not what I hoped for. Had to listen to the first quarter and a half, arriving at Perkins Stadium near the endof the first half. River Falls "won" the first and fourth quarters, but got blitzed in the middle.

Stats do not tell the story:  RF had possession 12 minutes longer, had an equal no. of first downs,  outrushed WW, and had no interceptons or fumbles--end of story.

Oh, and I think I heard Coach Leipold in a post game interview say RF was a "good football team," but that may be wishful thinking. And actually, RF is a good football team--the equal of every team in the leaague except WW.

People kept saying that next week WW would face a tough game at Point, but I won't be surprised to see a comfortable margin in favor of the Hawks. I'm basing that only on comparative scores, a shaky basis. At any rate, I'm looking forward to watching the Hawks go all the way to the D3 championship.

Yes, it could be said that the Falcons, "won," the 4th quarter where they scored twice but let's be honest, for most of it, the tackles were being made by names I didn't recognize.   ;)  They did give the Hawks a great first quarter though........

...plus, winning the first quarter when the score was 0-0!! That must be that new math.  Just kidding...that's why fredfalcon put won like "won." Holding the hawks to zero was like a victory of sorts for RF. Considering RF had a grand total of 106 total yards entering the 4th quarter when all UWW wanted to do was end the game, I don't think the stats mean much of anything. RF played with some pride in the 4th; I'm sure they wanted to come to WW and play better - but like those other "good football teams" you speak of, they just don't have the horses.

Also, if we use score comparisons, than La Crosse should've beaten Point by a comfortable margin (i.e.  MO S&T and Azusa Pacific games being common opponents). Hard to explain what might have happened to La Crosse since those games & Point, too, for that matter.
