Will there be a fan bus going up to Point this week from UWW?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Regardless the actions of the opponent, there is a thing called class. WW didn't show any at the end of this game. Could I be wrong, hell yes, but MY team would have taken a knee the whole last series. Can't buy any other way, but respect everyone's opinion.

Agreed.  Respectful response is always the classy way and, in my opinion, everyone who is defending UWW did respond that way, with facts and stats, especially in light of the fact that they aren't the ones who were doing the name calling!   ::)

Taking a knee the whole last series would hardly prepare your 2nd team for the day that they become starters and again, in my opinion, is hardly fair to them.  They work their butts off every bit as much as the starters and stand patiently on the sidelines hoping that the score gets high enough so that, at some point, however limited it is, they can see the field!

Since my team has been accused of "running up the score" (in previous seasons, of course), I tend to agree with those who say that you don't rein in your non starting players. Obviously, there are other considerations depending on any given situation, in any given game. Many have been covered, and for the most part, I think most knowledgable fans, would probably agree in a particular situation. Talking theories here, it appears that many are talking past each other, and not addressing the same argument. Like pornography, I'm sure most know poor sportsmanship when they see it.

What I do find funny is the way many UWW fans seem to forget history, i. e., anything prior to 4 years ago. Using terms like never and always is shaky. It hasn't been that long ago when some might have said that UWW would "never" be a national power. Remember that old saw about payback being a B&^%$.

Say retagent, will you be going to Stevens Point this saturday, as a little scouting excursion for your team???

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Leave it to a Johnnie fan to find some way to bring the discussion around to, "history!"   Just giving you a little crap, Retagent!   ;)   ;D

Never really understood the whole running up the score thing.  If the defense cant stop the offense is that really the offenses fault.  I can see leaving your starters in too long as poor sportsmanship.  But being called a bad sport for running offensive plays to get college athletes game experience, dont get it.  Especially with the no redshirting rule now in D3.  I would run plays til the horn or CANNON blows.

And stopping the run game HAHAHA sounds more looks more like UWW just decided to pass against a weak pass defense for 466 yards of total offense.

Well, that was one of the points, that they should have pulled the offensive starters one series earlier and I can see how a case could be made for that.

Many people look to the 2006 Insight Bowl between Minnesota and Texas Tech as a reason to continue to play out a game and not simply take a knee, run the ball up the middle or punt on first down to show good sportsmanship.  The Gophers blew a 38-14 4th quarter lead (wow, the same score as UWW/RF on sat.), eventually to lose 44-41 in OT.  Not saying UWW could pull a Gopher goof, but stranger things have happened (and I'm not talking about the Peter Tork album!  ;) )

BoBo:  I wonder how many people on this board have the slightest idea who Peter Tork is/was?? :'( ???

retagent

Ah yes! that famous passing tandem, Peter Tork to Mickey Dolenz.

A friend has posed the possibility of going to Stevens Point, but I think we'll wait until the playoffs and stay closer to home. Park the Perk!

Many on the MIAC board are thinking that the only way we see another SJU/UWW is if they put MTU in the east, UWW in the  north and SJU as #1 in the West. A lot of "ifs" there. And before I'm corrected, I know that when they seed, it's not technically North, South, East and West, but just easy shorthand for me.
