This is Pat's cue to chime in and disprove my theory on the insignificance of the Top 25.....

Well, the Top 25 won't tell you who will get into the playoffs. It'll just tell you who will do the best when you get there. :)

Does the same committee that creates the top 25, create the playoff brackets? as well as the weekly regional standings leading up to the playoffs?

I think it is possible that one or more of the top 25 voters may also serve on the NCAA committee but I don't think it is the same group completely.

I thought Stout would be the next likely candidate.  Both teams have two in-region losses, and Stout did lose to UWSP 7-6, but with one more possible in-region "W" for Stout, does this place them ahead of UWSP or not?  I know there are two more games to go before it matters, but this is what my original question should have read.

UWSP will have to lose again for Stout to be considered. UWSP's SOS is too good not to be considered in the West.

02 Warhawk,

Does a 2 loss WIAC team make the playoffs? the D3 poll says a heavy vote
for no school and the same for only one. If only one I wonder where it might come from WIAC or OAC or neither?

tough to tell. Point is certainly on the bubble now. interested to see where they stand when the next regional rankings come out tomorrow (as well as Whitewater).

I still don't believe that Point's loss to Azusa Pacific will be harmless.  There will be so many two loss teams, I think all are in peril. I think the committee will be looking for reasons to eliminate teams and whether discussed or not, I think Point won't be considered strongly. I think Stout is the WIAC's only hope for a second team and there well may only be one. Heck, Stout is one of the reasons Point HAS a strong SOS!  Having said that, having seen the regional rankings, NOTHING would surprise me!  ???

At 9-0 Central is a reason that the SOS is strong for the Point as well.  UWW helps too.

very true. I guess the other way of looking at it is the only D3 teams they have lost to at this point are both undefeated. And they beat Stout. But that third "unofficial" loss....hmmm... I just don't think they get in. We'll see

I don't think a three loss team gets in regardless of in region or in D3 loss.  It's a loss.  No way does a three loss team get in the playoffs even if they are better than a one loss St Norberts.  I think they take SNC before a three loss UWSP.  I don't think SNC has much of a chance with one loss to get in so that tells you how muchI think a three loss team gets in.

That's pretty much what I think, even though as I said yesterday I believe they would have a great shot at beating maybe 20 of the top 25 teams!  But that's how it works. Ya hafta keep racking up the W's and avoid any L's. More than one L and you aren't safe at all, even in the strongest of conferences.  Three? I don't think so...
