UWW's Jeff Schebler sits at 419 career points - just 14 points shy of the NCAA All-Division kick scoring mark of 433 held by Art Carmody of Louisville (2004-2007).

It would really be great for him if he breaks the record. I've noticed (and confirmed by looking at the last couple of seasons) that Jeff has attempted fewer FGs this year (only ten). That is way down from previous years. I think it means that the Hawks are getting better at scoring TDs and not having to settle for FGs.

Anyway, it has been a pleasure watching him kick the ball for UWW the last four years.

Has Whitewater offered busses to the Stagg Bowl in the past??

hypothetically of course   :P

I know in 07, there was a bus that left at 6 PM Friday and arrived in Salem at 9 AM Saturday. The bus left Salem an hour after the game. Basically drove all night both ways. Back then the cost was $100 for a student and $125 for a non-student.

Finally got to see the Warhawks play this year and all I can say is wow.  The game actually got boring during the later part of the game.  Osh Kosh got dominated from the get go.  The defense is amazing.  Troney Shumpert is easily the best player in the conference and maybe one of the best defensive players ever to play at the Perk.

The offensive line looked great.  The am ount of time that Donovan has to throw the ball is ridiculous.  29-33 Donovan just stop it. And watching Coppage run all over the place, making everyone miss was a DELIGHT.

I heard they were good but now I know they are first hand.

I pretty much agree with everything you stated.

One thing for sure regarding Troney: He could teach NFL cornerbacks a thing or two about tackling! He is one of the surest tackling cornerbacks I've seen at any level!

To give added perspective to the defense, in the first three quarters of games this year, the UWW defense has given up 26 points in 27 quarters!

I'm sure kirasdad and raiderguy have a thing or two to add about Shumpert.  ;)  Something along the lines of his coverage of Shorts in the early going in game 15 last year.  ;)  Sorry to steal your thunder boys.   ;D :D :P

A little earlier for this, I am thinkiing............   ;) For one thing, the 07 team had numbers from games against a D-2 team and  #3 UMHB  figure into those averages while this year's team's NC schedule could be considered a cakewalk .  It is true that the 07 team didn't dominate in the scoring column all season like this team has been doing but they got it done in the Stagg against a Mount team, that statistically, was looking like the best team they had ever fielded.  On paper, that never should have been the Stagg that the Warhawks won but that is why you play the game.  Let's save the comparisons to the National Champs until after the 09 team achieves something in the post season.   ;)

The two top ranked teams in the East Region both lost Saturday. That means there are no undefeated teams in the East Region and, therefore, no viable #1 seeds. That pretty much assures that a Mount Union victory Saturday will mean they will be moved to the East to be the #1 seed. If UWW wins Saturday, they will then likely be moved to the North to be the #1 Seed there.

What does that mean for potential UWW playoff opponents, should UWW win on Saturday?

After Mount moves east, the remaining currently top ranked teams in the North Region are:

2. Wittenberg (9-0) (Ranked 9th at D3Football.com) at Wooster (5-3) Saturday.
3. Mount St. Joseph (9-0) (Ranked 25th). Home vs #11 Thomas More (9-0) Saturday.
4. Case Western Reserve (9-0) (Ranked 9th) Home vs Washington U (4-5) Saturday.
5. Illinois Wesleyan (8-1) (Ranked 14th) At North Park (1-8) Saturday.
6. Wabash (8-1) (Ranked 15th) At Depauw (7-1) Saturday
7. Wheaton suffered their 2nd loss Saturday, so will drop. (7-2) at Carthage (6-3) Saturday.
8. Trine (8-1) Home against Kentucky Christian, a football program in 2nd year, who recently recorded 1st conf. win.
9. Otterbein suffered 2nd loss of seaon to Mount Union (58-7) and will drop.  Home against John Carroll (3-6)
10.  Allegheny suffered 2nd loss of seaon and will drop.  At ohio Weleyan (3-6)

The teams in the best position to receive #1 Seeds going into Saturday are:

1. Mount Union (East)
2. UWW (North)
3. St. John's (West)
4. Wesley (South)

Of course one more game to go!

The Brackets are to be announced this Sunday between 2:00 and 2:30 Central time on ESPNNews.

Quotecoco, joke all you want, but it's hard to ignore the fact

I will speak for coco, he was not joking at all.

It is obvious to both of us MUC and UWW are both stoking the boiler and when the clearing sound of those railway hounds is heard upon the land, most will step out of the way.

Devil Badger Gopher

I cannot believe how little respect the other teams in the WIAC are getting from the top 25 pollsters for D3football.com.  You have 3 OAC teams between UWW and UWSP and then no other team from the conference even receiving votes.  I know this does not mean anything as we have playoffs at this level, but what is happening to the outsiders who view the WIAC to bring the conference down a notch or two or three?

The only North Region teams with a chance of giving Whitewater (or MUC) a game is the champion of the CCIW or the runner-up from the OAC if it's Ohio Northern.  If Otterbein gets in over ONU, then you can reduce this list down to the CCIW representative only.  The rest of the region's teams can't even begin to compete at the line of scrimmage.

Outside of the CCIW and OAC, Mount has thoroughly dominated the North Region because they completely dominate the battle at the line of scrimmage.  And Whitewater is stronger up front than Mount, so I would be shocked if anyone in the North Region makes UWW break a sweat beside Illinois Wesleyan or Ohio Northern.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

HScoach,

Good points! If Mount and UWW meet again in the playoffs, Mount will
bring again the big play capability like last year and UWW will once
again have a strong running game and consistant passing offense.

Both teams have great defenses again this year, so it could be, if it
happens, another great game. I would be surprized if either
school is greatly challenged in the playoffs, but we will see!
