UWW Football IS a DYNASTY!

just trying to inflate their heads prior to the playoffs

If there is one over riding characteristic of our staff and this team it is that they take nothing for granted.  They respect all opponents and focus their preparation on that opponent and that opponent only.  They know only too well that you can take nothing for granted, even Lakeland.  You could say anything you want, even call them a dynasty, and it won't go to their heads.

Mount Union has had that same approach for each game/opponent since 1985 and their first National title in 1993 and it continues today. Each year Coach Kehres sets a goal to win each game, respect each opponent, not focus on prior games and win the conference. Anything after that is a bonus opportunity. After 10 Titles, that approach seems to have worked!

For the record, my comment about Mount being able to claim dynasty was sincere. Their record speaks for itself. Having said that, my guess is that word doesn't even come up there all that often. The approach Raider68 speaks of  is exactly how I would describe UWW's approach. I think that not only gives a program the best chance of success on the field, but it also will develop young men with integrity and character (ok quit laughing Mount guys.  ;) ).

Well said and not laughing. PPPPPPPPLLLLusss K too! :o

Thanks for the plus K Raider. In view of some of my past posts, I can kinda see why it might have been hard to get out!  :)

UW-Stout lost to the preseason #2 and by one point to the #7 team.  And still not a top 25 ranking at season end.  That is rediculous.

Who did they beat that makes them a Top 25 team?

Pat,
I love what you do for small time college football.  This is a great site and the best source for news in D3 Football.  Having said that, I will respectfully disagree with your thought process above.

Who did Monmouth beat?  Who did St. Thomas beat?  Who did North Central and Ohio Northern beat?  I am not going to say Stout can/cannot beat these teams, but these teams did not beat anyone great.

Secondly, Stout did beat two teams that were ranked in your preseason poll.

We all know that the WIAC has been consistantly named the best/strongest conference and this is why a team with two conference losses should be listed on your prestigous website.   Let's be honest, the WIAC should have more than one team ranked in the top 25 especially since that team is #2 in your poll.

If Stout hasn't gotten any love on the Top 25 poll, they sure are getting it on the team of the week for week 11...3...count'em...3 Stout Blue Devils on the team of the week!!  ;)

They also took 2 of the three WIAC Athletes of the Week for football.  ;)  Rather strong showing, if I do say so.

Well I meant when Nebraska and Notre Dame were good back in the day late 80's for ND and mid 90's for Nebraska. I think you know what I meant by the comparision. Both UWW and MUC are going to be getting everyone's best shot because of their recent success.

Interesting read about Lakeland from Clyde Hughes in the around the region article.

Towards the end of the article this caught my eye...

"Defensive backs Keith Woodson will be assigned to Whitewater's best wideout"

OK students, multiple choice question - select the best answer:

1.  Who is Whitewater's best wideout?

A. Jordan Wells    45 receptions 658 yards 8 TD (10 Games)
B. Aaron Rusch    44 receptions 602 yards 5 TD (9 Games)
C. Adam Brandes 42 receptions 729 6 TD (10 Games)
D. All of the above

Answer: D. All of the above

It'll be interesting how Lakeland's Keith Woodson guards three guys at once on saturday.  ;)  However, in all likelihood, Donovan and his 2nd half replacement(s) won't have to throw the ball too much. I suspect a heavy dose of Coppage, Anderson, and CJ Miller pounding the rock. Donovan's play action will lead to a fish fry, so much so, that the guys from Sheboygan will think it's Friday night!!  ;) :D

Here is a legit question for everyone to ponder are Mount Union and Whitewater becoming the Nebraska, Notre Dame, Florida of d1 football.

Wow, I thought I was the only person who could use Nebraska and Mount Union in the same sentence. I guess I'd be willing to elect Larry to Congress if I thought son Vince could carry on the tradition but we all know that never happens. MUC and WWW have at least come close to an amazing run that Augustana made in D3 years ago, but I'd be willing to compare Larry Kehres to Tom Osborne anyday.

I was just listening to the Warhawk Coaches Show. If you haven't listened, you should.  Anyway, the good news is the Cannon Guy will be at the Perk on Saturday...the bad news...he'll be outside the fence.  So rather than hearing

BOOM  it'll sound more like BOOM  :D ;D ;)

The playoff's have begun at the Perk....when the canon guy has to setup shop outside the fence.

I guess all the BOOMS will have to come from Hawks laying the wood to the Muskies!  ;D

Did some say Wesley?

You guys and your cannon. If I were a shrink, I might say it had something to do with your insecurity in your masculinity. But I'm not so I won't ;D

The Roop

At the rate they are likely to score against Lakeland, a gatling gun might be needed instead of the cannon.

Maybe a bugler playing taps and a 21 gun salute would be appropriate as well, outside the fence, of course.

Most people after being banned from the stadium would go home.  NOT THE CANON GUY.  He stands outside and BOOMS away after every TD.  I am buying stock in gun powder Friday night.  Sales should be up with the amount of times that canon with BOOM.

I heard the fans can be a little loud in the stands come Saturday, should they sit outside the stadium gates as well????

Devil Badger Gopher

I was wondering if Mr. Coleman put 3 Stouties on the D3Football.com TOW to compensate for the lack of votes in the poll he has little influence on, too?  Either way, it is great to look through and see how well my team came through in a bid to try and secure a possible Pool C bid.  I know they did not get the bid, but instead of losing to UW0 and having no chance, they at least kept their name in the conversation.  Great job to Dewey for the turn around and I second the fact that he should be COY for the WIAC.
