Forget Beckwith and Donovan how about Paulson who led the conference in passing yards (262/gm),  total offense (293/gm), most TD passes (24), and second in efficiency, and he also added 3 rushing TD's with 311 rushing yards.  Statistically he is the best QB in the conference hands down.  For EC to finish 4-3 in conference with a D that gave up 33 a game here is the player that lead them and without doubt should have been 1st team if not POY!

I can't wait to hear the Whitewater uproar and arguments on this one!

Looking at the stats it doesn't look like they are that predictable on offense. It's called players growing up not as young as they were last year,as well as Zebrowski in his third year and implementing his own offense after not changing much the first year, and keeping it simple with the youth and in experience last year.
Of course there is no such thing as a good offense without a GREAT offensive line. Which has been a strong point for the Hawks for some time know.

Sorry guy but you need to win to get the Player of the Year

I guess POY truly does not mean best player and if you make that argument Coppage is the one that got jobbed by his own teammate he is no doubt much more deserving.

Voice says that Jim Zebrowski was named the WIAC Assistant Coach of the Year, http://www.warhawkfootball.com/newswire.asp.  I think that it is well-deserved. Seems that this year's team is spreading the ball around to all of its weapons and is a more wide-open and unpredictable.

Voice,

Can you tell me where that was published? I don't see it anywhere on the WIAC web site.  Frankly, I've never heard of the WIAC giving out that award before. Perhaps it's something new. Can you tell me where you saw it?

It is an award that is not published, but is awarded each year at the WIAC coaches All-Conference meeting.  The reason I know about it this year is that Coach Leipold mentioned it when he announced to the team the Whitewater players named to the All-WIAC team after practice on Tuesday.  I am not sure how the assistant coach of the year is voted on.

I'll get the answer and post it tomorrow.

I beleive the WIAC Assistant Coach of the Year is honored each year at the the WFCA Hall of Fame Banquet each spring.

No uproar - just the facts.  Donovan led an offense that is among the most potent in Division III.  He also led his team to a 10-0 record. 'nuff said I think.

Don't know who said it, but, the definition of statistics: The science of producing unreliable facts from reliable figures. I'm not going to take your bait, only to say under analysis your numbers don't really have ground to stand on.

I'm sure Paulsen, Beckwith and all the other QB's in this league are back at home knowing the coaches got the right guy.  I'm sure as they watched him work this year, they probably thought to themselves how nice it would be to have what he (Donovan) had at his disposal.

I'll take the bait!  ;D

Paulson had great stats, but it's all about winning. EC lost three games.

In the loss to UWSP, Paulson threw two picks in the last 9 minutes of a 15 point loss.
In the loss to UWW, Paulson started the game 5-10 for 23 yards. During this time UWW broke to a 17-0 lead.
In the loss to UWS, Paulson started 4-7 for 30 yards and a pick. During this time UWS broke into a 22-0 lead.

Paulson is a good QB. POY? I don't think so.

The chances are very good that when a team goes undefeated and has 34 wins in their previous 35 conference games that the POY MIGHT be on that team (but not necessarily). I understand your bias towards Coppage given what he did to UWEC!  ;)

And the best part is that the UMAC will get a Pool A in 2011 so the 85-3 first round games will become the norm.

I was wondering if Mr. Coleman put 3 Stouties on the D3Football.com TOW to compensate for the lack of votes in the poll he has little influence on, too?

Stout has an SID who listens, I guess, when I tell people at the beginning of every year that we always need more tight ends and defensive linemen nominated.

Can't see Beckwith ... also known as Mr. 14 interceptions.

PASSING             GP      Effic     Cmp-Att-Int     Pct   Yards  TD  Long   Avg/G
Jeff Donovan      10      180.3    180-246-4     73.2  2447   20    77    244.7
Jared Beckwith   10     135.8     206-336-14   61.3  2527  20    93     252.7

Effeciency: JD large advantage
Yards: JB slight advantage

+ Beckwith 90 more attempts for only 80 additional yards.  :o
Give Donovan 90 more throws at his efficiency, he would have blown this wide open.  His only real challenger as POY was/is Coppage.  Donovan's a senior, Coppage a sophomore...nod goes to Donovan.  Coppage will get his one or two awards before it's all said and done.  ++ Donovan led this team to a 41-14 beating of Beckwith's team in the head to head and did the same with everyone else. IMO, this was as much a no-brainer as there ever could be.

Makes perfect sense to me, BoBo.  Nice job.  A BIG congrats to Jeff!  Well earned, IMHO, and in the opinion of the WIAC coaches, obviously!  ;)

At least that will move the NathCon up the pecking order a little bit. Maybe they'll get to play a #2 seed instead of a #1 seed.

Obviously the majority of WIAC head coaches disagree with your assessment and they're the ones that do the voting.  Both Paulsen and Beckwith are good quarterbacks but both have already turned in their equipment.
