BoBo, in your effort to generate controversy again, you misquoted Norm Eash.

http://www.pantagraph.com/sports/college/illinois-wesleyan/article_ac31fae2-dc87-11de-8b28-001cc4c03286.html

"The best team doesn't always win, but the team that plays the best does, and Whitewater was the better team," Eash said.

I listened to Eash make this same comment on the WJBC postgame show, and expand on it.  And what he said was basically (to paraphrase since I don't have it recorded), "Sometimes a team that is not as good as another can play better and win...we were hoping that would happen today, but it didn't.  Whitewater was better, and played better."

You are dangerous with quotes, man.

I didn't hear what he said on the WJBC postgame show, I can't even get it. Were they broadcasting the press conference or their own interview with him? I only heard him on the official NCAA post game press conference.  What you paraphrased isn't what I heard him say there.  I don't want to strike up any controversy, but it's just what I heard.

But you even left the following part of his quote from the press conference out of what you posted here...

"...and Whitewater was the better team."

You left that out and then suggested that Eash - who has been on the national committee the last two years and watched the Warhawks play in the national championship game, and who had just been whipped 45-7 by Whitewater - suggested that IWU was the better team.

Maybe it's because Whitewater is so good that no one could possibly say anything negative about the Warhawks that you just want to create some kind of "us against the world" thing...but no one is going to buy that.

I guess I'm going to take the news reporter over you, BoBo.

It's a free world - do as you like.

Whether I'm right or wrong, Mr. Ypsi has confirmed that there are at least some in his own conference who would find this well within his character - right or wrong as it maybe.

Why stop there, TQ...He also said he, as a member of the national committee, he got his hands on copies of the last few Stagg Bowls, and that he has been studying or thinking (or something like that) about Whitewater for the last 8 weeks.  When told by someone in the room (somewhat jokingly I might add), something to the effect, that using these DVD's would violate the rules on game film that can be used in scouting, he said he said something like we didn't use them. Nice deflection  ::)  Sorry I brougt the issue up -

Now you are taking MY post out of context , as well.  You are leaving out that I said the characterization came from  "...former opponents ... or are themselves being poor losers".

Wise bit of advice (which I should more often pay attention to! ;)) - when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

EDIT: It is misguided not in terms of whether or not he is a jerk (I don't know; nor do you), but because you seized on a statement (apparently out-of-context) which was nothing more than 'coach-speak' (and, in this case, I mean that in a good way).

In light of your last post, I'm content to let this drop.

I didn't actually attend the news conference so I'm not going to comment (by the way, something you should consider) but I will say this:

It's easy and legal to get copies of past Stagg Bowls. And if he started eight weeks ago then there's no restriction whatsoever on what kind of video you can go out and get. It's only once the bracket has been released that you are restricted in acquiring video. Even so, those restrictions wouldn't cover 2008 or 2007 or 2006 or 2005 games, BoBo.

If the news conference did go as you describe (and for some reason, I have my doubts), then the person making the joke would have been in the wrong, not Eash.

Another thing to ponder: They announced being respectful a second time at the start of the second half because of bad sportsmanship. I'd like to know where that come from, the only thing I saw was the head coaches wanting to bite the refs heads off at two points and nothing else.  :P

On the way off the field, both coaches had words with the referees. However, there were fans standing alongside the fence as the refs left the field. They were giving it to the refs. I think that's what generated the announcement. I don't even know which team's fans were doing it. Maybe even both. I don't think either side was real happy with the referees in the first half.

BoBo

If anyone can get a copy of a press conference, it's you Mr. Coleman.  So when you get it and listen, you don't have to go through the embarrassment of apologizing for my description of how it went.  ;) They were joking about it, maybe because no one there actually knew the rule on this as much as you do.

Geez, so this is what it feels like to get beaten up by 39, 554 posts!!  :D ;D

Well, it does seem a little odd that you would take a coach to task after you'd just beaten them by 38. That isn't enough? You need to crush them and they have to kiss your ring?

Of course, it seems he did kiss your ring too ... so perhaps indeed you were just trying to stir up trouble.

Amazing

Considering the weak-ass coverage of the WIAC in general by the Milw JS, I was speechless when I saw and read that article.  Wow.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

The WIAC/WSUC has always been the "red headed stepchild" to the Big 10 and the Badgers when it comes to coverage.

I saw Michael Hunt in the pressbox at the Perk. Maybe a Badgers bye week and the Packers playing Thursday freed him up. In the little I was able to catch of his conversation, he sounded really impressed with the Perk, the Warhawks, and the experience. I was glad to read the article. I continue to believe if more people took the time to check out d3 football they would fall in love with it.

Veteran Wisconsin State Jounal columnist was also among the media at the game.  Oates has always enjoyed Warhawk games. One of his previous jobs was at the Daily Jefferson County Union in Fort Atkinson,

02 Warhawk

Is it safe to assume the next round will be in Whitewater??? I heard that after the second round the home teams will be announced based on certain criterias, since there are no seeds this post-season.

Watched the first half of the game at my dad's work office while visiting the family in IL. the fam doesn't have internet, so we made a short trip to my dad's office with my brother and watch the game over the web. What a kick by Schebler to end the half, that kick turned the momentum right back to whitewater's favor, especially after IWU recovered a redzone fumble and scored on a long pass play to pull within 7.

win, advance, stay healthy....repeat.   ;D

Keep things rolling!!
