Because it is impossible for some of us to get quite enough UWW Football, I've created a new blog. The first posting is an early week preview of the Wittenberg Tigers.

http://uwwfootball.blogspot.com/

Nice post and and great first blog.  Good background on Witt.  I think we are looking at about 38-7 for UWW.  I am not even a UWW fan, but come playoff time it really only is UWW and Mt. that I see getting to the promise land.  Good luck UWW from the WIAC.
I dunno, the way the Cats dismantled the Cru last weekend...........could be a very interesting semi final if we meet.

bleed. What about it's arrogant fans who seem to take every perceived slight and make mountains out of molehills, and act as though all other programs are so inferior they should just pack it in and not play the game anymore?

You could say that about any successful program.   With winning comes confidence (if it's your team) / arrogance (if your the opponent) and jealousy from those that wish their team was that good.  Nothing new.

+K HScoach, 100% agree with you....during UWW's game against Lakeland a friend of the family joined us for the game whose son goes to St. Norberts. In the SECOND QUARTER he was critizing Whitewater for running up the score by passing the ball, even though Blanchard already took Donovan's spot at QB on the field. Talk about being under the microscope... ::)

Need I remind him that donovan only threw the ball 9 times, and Blanchard 4 times....while playing our 3rd running back the whole second half. Hardly trying to run up the score, Liepold did everything short of taking a knee the whole second half to keep the clock running.

I remember a MUC game in the 90s (I think) where a backup MUC ball carrier had a clear path to the endzone and actually fell down to avoid scoring.  There was an ensuing discussion on here on whether an opponent would rather you do that and kick a FG, or just play ball and score when you could.

In regards to the etiquette of running up the score...or for some teams...just running your normal offense...I met a former Ohio Northern Running Back while working out in a gym in Cincinnati a few months back.  We started talking D3 football and I asked him about Mount Union...as ONU has been on the losing end of some big scores and he said he would rather have the opposing team continue to run their plays then punt on 2nd down, take a knee on consecutive plays during the 3rd quarter, kick FG's on first down or fall down on their way to the endzone on purpose.  I did not push any harder on the questioning but I'm sure WWW and MUC could score 100+ on some teams but are too classy to do so.  It's a delicate discussion because you respect your opponent and don't want to embarass your conference yet at the same time...if the other team can't stop the dive play up the middle..I'm not sure what you do to keep the score down.  The playoffs make it even worse because you can't go to your 100th guy on the roster because you don't have one.

I'm not sure how this discussion went from focus on arrogant FANS, to teams running up the score. Maybe I have to use monosyllabic words more often. ;)

I was watching PTI yesterday, and they actually had a discussion about who was more classless, Rick Neuheisel for calling timeouts late in the game, down 17 - 7 (I think) or Pete Carroll, subsequently throwing for a TD, when taking a knee would have run out the time. I'm glad no one defended Neuheisel for calling the timeouts, and both said they would have done exactly what Carroll did.

While I think we will see Mount Union  vs. UWW in the Stagg Bowl again,
both teams have to earn victories before December 19th.

For Mount, they will not have a problem with Albright and if they do see
Wesley (for the 1st time), it will be a good game but a predictable victory.

For UWW, a tougher opponent in Wittenberg, but a big win. It is the Linfield
game (if they win, and they will over St. T). This is the game that raises questions as to how good is Linfield and what do they really bring to UWW if that happens? :-\

Witt will not pose any problems for UWW.

Congratulations Bleed Purple on the job you are doing on http://uwwfootball.blogspot.com/

It has been a must read for me each morning as I look forward to reading (or hearing) what is on the mind of Warhawk Nation.
Your effort is greatly appreciated by Warhawk football fans across the nation!!

Bleed. Great job on the blog. The offensive line has always been strength at UWW, which as always gets overshadowed by the "skilled" positions.
I see DLK aka "Mr. Whitewater is giving away free tickets to students who rent from them. Do a lot of the student athletes still rent from him??? That's how it was when I went to u dub-dub. That is a very nice gesture of him to do. As the university owes him a lot and he owes the university a lot as well.
Go get Wittenberg this weekend to set up the showdown with Linfield.
