Did realize journalists get their material from this board. Here's a clip from the Springfield News-Sun regarding the Whitewater/Wittenberg game:

"The problem is that no one can match Whitewater score for score," one fan posted on D3Football.com's message board. "The way to beat Whitewater is to get the ball first, keep it and never let go of it even if they stop you on fourth down. Super glue it to the linemen."

Probably too late to make it into a newspaper but BP QUARTERFINAL PROJECTIONS POSTED:

Any news on the extent of the concussion (I assume) that QB #7 from Wittenberg has.  That play looked terrible as they kept replaying it.  I hope he is ok.  (Note: I can't use my sound as I am in a library)

Since no one else has answered, He appeared to be OK as he was walking around on the sidelines during the second half without any apparent difficulty.

That was one of the more competitive games I've seen at Whitewater in the past few years, maybe since the last SJU/UWW tilt. Wittenberg was in the game up until late, and may have been in a better position had not Huffman gotten dinged. The second QB looked very good also, but something happens when a new QB has to come in, although he threw a very nice fade on his first play.

31-13!!! however, a little close for comfort in the first half, but a win never-the-less. Wittenberg was MUCH better than advertised, especially their offense.. I've heard how IWU might be a better team...not a true statement. Wittenberg has a very accurated QB until he got his bell rung in the second quarter, forcing him to leave (hope he's ok  :-\). Wittenberg never really wasn't the same since. After a slim 14-13 first half lead.... Whitewater ran ripped off a 17-0 run to win it in the second half.

One of the rare games that UWWs first line played all four quarters...I guess that's expected late in the playoffs.

Win, Advance, Stay Healthy....repeat   ;D

Congrats Whitewater, looking forward to seeing the 'Cats at the Perk next weekend.  Should be a good one!

They were actually on the way out, but when Witt decided to call all their time outs at the end and leave their starters in, UWW brought theirs back too. As you remember, on the second to last series, Blanchard ran the one play, then Donovan returned after the first T.O. to finish that series. Blanchard finished up with a couple kneel downs to end the game.

Witt played much better than anyone had against UWW this year, IMO, but you could really sense that midway through the 3rd and into the 4th, the Witt defense was getting worn down...kudos to their coaches for keeping them from fading any further.

#7 got crunched about as bad as a QB could. He was on such a roll, too. Wow, on reply, you could just see the two 'hawks coming from both sides and knew it was not going to turn out nice for him. They ran that QB draw play from the same formation once to often, I think. I'm not sure if that was the call, though. Looked like he was looking to throw, but it got blown up from the sides. Hope he's ok. The backup, listed as a DB I guess, did very well...considering.

Witt was a fine football team. Things could have turned out differently if the starting QB had not gotten hurt. He was very accurate. Kind of Bernie Kosar-like with his sidearm delivery of the ball. The backup did a pretty good job but they didn't throw the long ball like they did with the starter.

The Tigers had some attitude. Almost too much at times. Could have been flagged with excessive celebration on the field a couple of times.

And we almost has some USC-UCLA action when the Hawks took the field.  Witt players came over to the Hawk gathering at mid-field and started some trash talking. All in good fun I guess. At least Lance didn't pull a Pete Carroll and throw a bomb for a TD when Witt started calling the timeouts.

The play where the Witt QB got hurt:  Weird play, it looked like it happened in slow motion.  He put his head down and seemed like he stopped running like he was just waiting to get demolished.  He was knocked out... his right hand and arm went stiff ... he got hit on either side of his head at exactly the same time.

I always enjoy a really big A whipping and I guess most of us Warhawk faithful have come to expect just that but I for one am glad that the competition was as tough as it was today. Much like the last couple of years with UMHB.  Nothing like a solid tune up to get ready for the next step. My neighbor was watching the game with me and he can read lips. So when the Whittenburg QB got placed in a Warhawk sandwich he said that when the med staff asked him where he was and he said "Costa Rica" they knew he was done. It hasn't been 29 degrees in CR for 100k years. What is up with Jeff ? 2 misses and his kick offs were way short. Bobo you may be on to something when earlier I asked about his pro chances and you commented that he doesn't have a strong enough leg. Trony cover someone please because Linfield just put a huge target on your jersey.
We also switched over to the Linfeild/St. Thomas games. 3 observations. The announcers suck, the video feed sucked and it will be a verrrrrrrrry long day for Linfeild if they can't get at least some sort of run game going. We were not impressed with any part of thier game. IMHO

Great tailgate and game today.....I thought Wittenberg was the best team we played this year. Way to pound the rock in the second half.... Can't wait until Linfield comes to Whitewater next week. After the great way we were treated in Oregon in 2005 we invite Linfield fans or parents to stop by for a libation.......Happy Birthday to Warhawk Chuck ......

Any advice to a Linfield fan in choosing between a flight to Milwaukee versus flying to Madison? Appears to be about equidistant from Whitewater. Are either set of roads better, faster, etc. in getting to Whitewater?

Not wild about the expected 20-degree weather next weekend (I live in Phoenix, AZ), but a hopelessly faithful Cat fan wouldn't miss a playoff game. The Whitewater game at the Catdome 4 years ago was classic. I can only hope a similar great game occurs next Saturday.

Today's game had a different, but somewhat similar feel of the Wartburg game in the same round last year (if that makes any sense  :-\ )...right down to the INT late in the game. Hope next weeks results come up the same.

Warhawk defense forces Wittenberg into a one-dimensional attack and we all know that spells defeat ~ 31 rushing attempts, 21 yards 0.7/average for the game. From my calculations, Witt rushed 12 x's for a minus 23 net yards in the second half.  It was slant pass from the left, slant pass from the right. Your right stealth, Shumpert got beat a couple of times in the 2nd quarter when he was playing up in the face of the WR's Cooper & Williams, with no help. They adjusted and put Shumpert back about 5 yard and it saved him from getting burned more than he had been in the first half. Witt completed a lot of underneath slants, but they were usually thrown into good coverage by the Warhawk DB's. Either the receiver had to go down to make the catch or the coverage was right on them. One thing the Warhawks do very well is tackle without giving up extra yardage, especially Diebert and Troney. Troney with Lane Olson really blewup that backside screen with Cooper when the QB was rolling right.  It took Witt 35 passes to get only 261 yards. The 4th and last sack of the Witt QB kind of put the exclamation point on this win - Casper got the sack, but all 4 on the D-line were within a arms reach of Zoller, all the Witt OL were on the ground.

Kudos to the Oline, too. Other than the consecutive sacks early on, they had a pretty effective day against a smaller, fast Witt d-line. Eddie Vallery, he of the 15 or so sacks got one of them, but pretty much was a non-factor before and after that. Good job done on him. I like how the coaching staff used Coppage and Anderson - they compliment each other so well.

Agree with you Barber about the attitude of some of the Tigers, especially a couple LB's. One of them acted like he just won a free trip to Disneyland for winning Super Bowl MVP when he stopped AA after a 4 yard gain and a first down in the 2nd quarter? What was that? The fact that Anderson scored the next play made it look even more silly!!

WC11 is trying his best to make it out to the Perk.  Should know in the next couple of days if I can pull it off.  Looking forward to seeing all the UWW faithful and finally get to see your house.  Maybe DLK can hook me up with a charter flight?  :)

It's funny what you said about the linfied announcers...i watched the end of that game as well when i got back home. that guy couldn't get a call right in the final five minutes....

Jeff did have a rough game on field goals, but from what i saw we was consistantly putting the ball on the goal line on kickoffs.
