As they say in hockey, the name on the back is not as important as the logo on the front.

True, true. It may simply have been that those purple numbers are so darn hard to read on the black uniforms that they wanted to give the announcers a little help.

What a great game by two great teams. Damn, Mt. Union sure is a hard team to beat! I was wondering what everyone thought about the Warhawks having their names on their uniforms for the first time (since when?)?.  I wonder what the reasoning behind that was? I have no problem with it. To me, it said, "Come to Whitewater. Play on national TV. Have your name on your jersey. People will see you." Should be great for recruiting. Now, I am emotionally exhausted from the game and weather. Looking for a good night's sleep!

I'm glad you brought that up, i don't recall ever seeing the names on the jersey before. I kinda like it b/c i only know a handfull of players by their jersey number. seeing their name on back really helped out. Like you said, it probably helped the announcers out the most.

Anyone catch Garcon's phone-in interview right before the half???  He's still a punk...Great player...but a punk.

I really hope Shorts went out and shook everyone's hand after the game, he seems to be a little more classier.

Great game Warhawks!!!! You should be proud... Undefeated and national champions..

Congrats WARHAWKS...you dominated at times and represented the WEST very well!!!

Very impressive showing!!

Too bad not all your fans and the band could make it to the game with the weather gripping the East Coast.

Congratulations Warhawks!

Also, not going to go back and find the Linfield fan, but the Championship game was not played last week, it was played tonight in Salem.
That was me KD.  And no arguement here.  It was one of the best games I've seen at any level!  I was impressed with the character of both squads.  The game did remind me a lot of the Linfield game though.  The momentum swings were similar throughout the game.  I would honestly have to say that both teams played at an extremely high level yesterday, and deserved to be there.  I'm still a WILDCAT though! 8)

Apparently, ESPNClassic is not included in the comcast package anymore so I was listening to Pat and Keith too.  Great broadcast, but, just listening makes it so much more tense!

This is a bit of a side bar, but, will hopefully this will give you a lil idea how Warhawk mania is spreading in Chicago.  I've been working at the same company for 6 years now and when I first started I would talk about the Hawks and everybody would say "UW-Who?"  Now, we've got people following the Hawks on-line and coming to me for predictions!

Congrats again and enjoy your success!

Catville Commissioner Elect

Congratulations and great job WarHawks.

Once again let it be shown that the best football in DIII is played in the West.  You were very deserving of the win and beating the great Mount again was just icing on the cake.

I am just waiting for the West to get the recognition they really deserve.  The way  you played yesterday and based on the beatings the other regions take at the hands of other west teams the DIII Top Ten could be made up of almost all West Division teams except maybe MUC and UMHB.

Savor your well deserved victory and hope we get to see you again next year along the way to Salem.  If we do I am sure it will be shades of the 2005 and 2009 UWW/Linfield games.

Ithaca fan here. Great season and a great game. To be honest, it feels like MUC and you guys are on a different level. Almost like Division 2 and a half. Every time I watch you guys in the NC game, I'm like, "Holy Hell, we'd lose by 70 points to these guys". Astounding. Congratulations

Thank you, Brian.  That's very kind of you to say.  There are a lot of great WARHAWK fans that post here and many, many more who don't post but follow the team faithfully.  It was a fantastic victory for the staff, the players, the support staff and everyone who calls the 2009 DIII National Champion UW-WHITEWATER WARHAWKS our guys.

On a side note, I hope Andy Harris is recovering.  I don't know Andy's official title but I do know that he is instrumental to the program.  Andy was injured while unloading equipment to the extent that he was taken to the hospital for treatment.   Hang in there Andy.
