We returned home safely about an hour ago.  What a trip.  My brother, Warhawk96 and I drove 13 hours from Racine to Salem Thursday evening.  The weather made life difficult because the city of Salem has no idea how to handle snow removal.  The stadium lot was only partially plowed.  Almost all of the restaurants on Main Street were closed by the time we left Salem Stadium.  Many of the places we tried to stop and eat at on Sunday were serving limited menues because they were out of supplies or employees.  I've never been more proud to be from Wisconsin.  If nothing else, I know how to drive a car in a snow storm and I know how to shovel out a parking space.  Sweet Virginia!

Congratulations, 'Hawks!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, AGAIN.[/color]
We don't rebuild.  We reload.  Finish the mission.

Congrats to one of my best friends, WR #19 David Leaf and the rest of UW-W!!!

Donovan was the MVP. Coppage was good but
BINGO!  Guess the selection committe followed the, "what have you done for me lately," philosophy.  Yes, his terrific TD run broke the tie but did they watch the first half?   ??? ::)  ::)

Congratulations Warhawks!

Also, not going to go back and find the Linfield fan, but the Championship game was not played last week, it was played tonight in Salem.

That was me KD.  And no arguement here.  It was one of the best games I've seen at any level!  I was impressed with the character of both squads.  The game did remind me a lot of the Linfield game though.  The momentum swings were similar throughout the game.  I would honestly have to say that both teams played at an extremely high level yesterday, and deserved to be there.  I'm still a WILDCAT though! 8)

I guess if you base your statement on the 1st half, I would tend to agree with you.  But the 2nd half brought things back into perspective.  ;)
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

Warhawk 96

Congratulations WARhawks. That was an epic battle for both teams but you came out of battle victorious in the end. I am soooo fricken' proud of you guys! Enjoy it.

Mt. Union- Congratulations on yet another fine season/decade of football. Six titles in ten years is still an awesome accomplishment.

2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 NCAA Division 3 Champions.
2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 WIAC Champions.

Congrats to UWW on winning their 2nd title.   What a great game to cap a wacky weekend.

Just as it should be, the championship game was two well coached, evenly matched teams playing a very hard and clean game that was decided by a couple big plays late.  Similar to '07, the UWW defense forced the turnovers that mattered.

Donovan's 1st half performance was something special to watch.  Even as the opponent.

Not saying anything you don't already know but the key in my mind was the Morring fumble inside the UWW 30 yard line to end an impressive Mount drive that started at MUC's 8.  Nice hard hit by the OLB right on the ball.  Nothing flukey about that one.  As that drive crossed mid-field, I was sure if Mount sticks that in the endzone they were going to win.

After watching Kurt Rocco's performance, I hope you understand my hesitation to like Mount's chances with him injured.  He might only be a 1 year starter at Mount, but he grew into a great QB and will be missed.

Enjoy your off season and get fat and out of shape ;)  We'll be working hard over the next 6 months to win it back next December.

Merry Christmas!

I think that's the hit that is in the photo on Keith's postgame story from Saturday:

#17 played a fantastic game. The one thing I noticed the most was his intensity throughout. I thought he was representative of what I played against the first 3 go-arounds, and watched the last few. WWW always comes to play.

"The Lane Train," worked very hard paying his dues with great special teams play in the beginning of his career and has battled some injuries off and on earning a starting spot eventually.  One of those kids who would have started a lot more games if he had been playing anywhere else in the WIAC.  This has been his year to shine and he made the most of it and took nothing for granted.

4 bullet points:
Donovan was the MVP. Coppage was good but
The D & O lines were the MVT. Most Valuable Team
Pat and Keith were MVA. Most Valuable Announcers (ESPN announcers were un listenable)
Linfeild. Appreciate the back slapping but please stop claiming UWW as one of your own Westeners. UWW is as much in the real west as Cairo is next to Mexico City. They are in the west by bracket selection only.

I agree I thought Coppage was very good but I think you won more because of Donavan.  I think the best player on the field was Shorts but you can't give the MVP to a player on the losing team in a game this great IMO.  I also think Kehres is amazing as a coach so much in fact I cant quite put it in words so I will leave it alone.

This was the best played Stagg Bowl in the last 17 years (maybe ever but I have only seen the last 17)

Two very classy teams playing really tough football.  It was appropriate that the game was broadcast on ESPN Classic because it was a CLASSIC!

What made the hit the most impressive to me was that the runner was covering the ball as well as it can be covered and the hit still got it out of there.  It was the play of the game IMO.  If MUC holds  that ball I think they had the momentum to score and I think they would have run enough clock and had things going their way.  Asit was the momentum swung back to WWW and they made some great plays on that drive.

Personally......I think the (insert here...weather, referees, distracting snow piles, long bus rides, ummm......bad lighting) was the ONLY reason WW was able to win this game.  CLEARLY Mount was superior in every facet.

Ok.......so I'm in DENIAL.........it was a long frickin' drive down there and back.  I have not recovered as of yet.

I too was totally impressed by Donovan after being much less so last year.  As everyone has already said, it was quite the fun, entertaining, nail-biting game.

Congrats to Whitewater....you bunch of CHEATERS!   ;)

Even if Donovan had been 100 percent healthy last year in the Stagg Bowl it wouldn't have been the same. That extra year starting is a huge difference.

Also the fact he didn't play baseball in the spring...maybe he focused more on football during the offseason?
