Staying put from Madison.com.

I loved the quotes from PP.  I think having a philosophy that puts people first and allows people to pursue their dreams is the best way to attract top people and the best way to build a program. I know no one from BOSTON COLLEGE is reading this, but it may serve them well.....

Bleed:
I agree and still can't believe that BC did that. I mean it looks good if your head coach goes to the NFL. I am not even sure what coach Jagodzinski is doing know as he was let go from the buccaneers before the season even started some time during training camp.
The days of coaches beign Lifers is coming to an end. The days of Berezowitz's and herrings just don't happen as often anymore.
Once again glad to have him back as a Warhawk,as he gets ready to make another trip to salem.

Maybe.  While IWU is not a truly elite program in football, we have had 2 coaches over the last 55 years.  In basketball (where we ARE elite), we are now on our 4th coach over the last 67 years (a statisitic hurt by one guy who left after only 5, and the new coach is only in his 4th year - though he has the local ties to look like a 'lifer').

Here we go again...this from the D2football.com message boards:

Our sources tell us that Lance Leipold (Wisconsin-Whitewater Head Coach) has interviewed with Athletic Director Jerry Hughes for the Head Coach vacancy.

UCM finished 8-3, losing to eventual national champion NW Mo State 56-14 in first round of D2 playoffs. UCM plays in the MIAA, the same league as Nebraska-Omaha. UCM's HC left after 13 seasons to take the HC position at Sam Houston State.

Time to get out the voodoo dolls and direct them at the Mules of the University of Central Missouri.  Pull a few more strings, if you got them!!  ;)

I can understand his applying to GVSU as a "unique opportunity".....however, if he is indeed a candidate at this other school, now it smacks of simply looking for a better job (see: $$$$$).  What other positions did he apply for??  One application can be explained and doesn't play with potential recruits.......a pattern of applications is a different story.

Nothing wrong with trying to better yourself.  If I was a young college coach, I'd be trying to climb the food chain too.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I agree BUT does this rub any of the UWW faithful the wrong way if this is indeed true or are the UWW fans fine with it because they believe the machine is running so well that the next HC will just keep it rolling along?

I like the design a little better than the one on the Bookstore site (at least on the purple shirt version).  And in case anyone is  interested, here's another nice looking design on a champ T that I found:

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I just received mine in the mail from the yahoosports site...looks sharp, i like it. I'm just waiting for the NCAA to come out with the DVD now.

Any possibility Lance is considering joining the coaching staff for my woeful Chicago Bears?? No??? they could use the help, since they canned six coaches. Sackman, can you confirm this?

Whether he himself made the effort to contact UCM or those in the UCM athletic department initiated the contact (they obviously know about LL from his years at UN-O), I'm already on record as saying I find nothing wrong with it. Why should it rub anyone the wrong way? It has nothing to do with believing the machine is so well oiled it doesn't matter who is at the helm. It's happening because of his success, everyone knows it...if he was 3-41 nobody would be calling. What I do find interesting is all the publicity from national sources his travel patterns and interviews are generating for himself and UWW. It's like he's currently the hottest and most well known DIII coach in the land, not to mention all the non-UWW fans who think it must be annoying to the UWW-fans.  8-)  ;)

Well,  there isn't too much happening right now in DIII football to talk so when the head coach from the National Champs is interviewing for new jobs it's worth following and discussing.

I don't really care either way what he does because UWW is not going anywhere regardless (IMO) but I do find is interesting that just a few years there was a pretty strong reaction when the Mankato rumors where flying but now it just seems to be a not that big of a deal.    I guess that happens when you have such a great run.

wildcat11,

I think the uproar two years ago was because he had only been the coach for one season.  I think as time goes on there will be less of an uproar should LL leave. Personally, I like to see a coach give four or five years to a program at least. But I can understand why one would leave a little earlier given the right opportunity.

Plus, I think things are a little more stable at UWW now. We have two very competent coordinators in place. Coach Z has shown his ability as reflected in the national assistant coach award. And Coach B...well what more is there to say. Several years in a row of being one of the top defenses in the country.

In the event that Coach Leipold took another HC position, would it not be something if Coach Z became UWW's HC.

Now you have a Raider alum coaching a Warhawk program. That would
be great!!!!!!!!! :)

Together with a Raider alum's brother potentially the starting QB of another Stagg Bowl Champion! That WOULD be great!  Whatever it takes...  ;D

It's great that you guys can understand and be happy for someone (Coach Z) moving up the institutional food chain!  Of course he's already done that regardless of what LL ends up doing. ;D
