Hope this kid can kick in cold weather  ;)

There's a town called Lake Placid...in Florida?  Do you believe in confusing, misplaced names of cities?  Yes!

+K...funny.. I immediately thought of NY as well.

A few tidbits about Lake Placid:

Lake Placid, FLA is to caladium what Holland, Michigan is to tulips.  I would think it smells really nice around that place!!

One of the Green Dragons finest:

(Hope our new kicker is a little bigger!)

Lake Placid is near Sebring...they know a thing or two about speed.

Dr. Dewey Decimal System - otherwise known as Dr. Melvil Dewey - died there after convincing the city of Lake Stearns to change their name to Lake Placid, after the original one in Upstate NY.

Enough of the history lesson... ;)  :D  ;D   ::)

P.S. amazing what a few appearances on ESPN can bring...maybe a few 6'3" 240, 4.5 sec LB'ers from Texas would be nice, too!!  ;)

Whenever I hear "Dewey Decimal System" I think of Conan the Librarian in UHF.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Happy spring all . Hope your're well. Not being biased .. I'd take Jones for all around game. Harder to game plan against. Over came some pretty big obstacles, senior transfer, weather adjustments, cultural acclimation, had a bunch of doubters, etc. 1st QB to lead the team to the promised land. But it's a team sport and so many variables factor into wins and losses. We could debate for ever.

What about Danny Jones. Jacobs was good, but Jones and Donovan won the BIG ONE aka STAGG BOWL. Yes jacobs took them tot he first two but Jones, and Donovan won them. Well Jones was 1-0, while donovan was 1-1.

Jones was very good, and was better moving me around in the pocket....but as far as a pure passer, i'll take JD and Jacobs. look at the numbers.

Plus it didn't hurt Jones to have the best player in DIII to hand the ball off to all year  ;)

I'll be happy to have any of those three on my team  ;D

This isn't specifically football related but I wanted to toot the WIAC's horn a bit.  This past weekend the UW-LaCrosse women won the NCAA DIII National Championship in gymnastics.  It's the fourth National Championship won by one of the conference's members this school year.  In addition to this championship the conference has also won football (UW-WHITEWATER), men's basketball (UW-Stevens Point) and women's cross country (UW-Eau Claire).

Congrats to the WIAC.  I think you should all move up to DII!

You are not giving others a chance to succeed and it is not fair.  Little Boys and Girls all over the DIII landscape are crying because they didn't get a trophy just for participating.

I'll toot the horn, too, seeings the UWEC and UWL teams (by that I mean gymnastics and cc) are often considered "lesser" sports, or overlooked, or whatever the word may be, because they don't generate the dollars, or publicity, or attendance, as the others... And yet these athletes put in as many hours as the others... So congrats to the Eagles and Blugold women for these accomplishments...

We shall see what the spring sports bring; baseball and softball will have strong WIAC reps in those sports. And the competition will be good in golf amongst the WIAC teams, too...

I want to add my congrats to UW-LC woman's gymnastics team on their National title! An amazing accomplishment!  I also want to send my congrats out to the UW-W Warhawk's woman's gymnastic team and their coaching staff for their 3rd place national finish and to Justine Weyer who finished her senior year as the 2010 National Vault Champion.  My daughter was a terrific club gymnast from the time she was very young and the time, effort, dedication, courage and physical challenges that this sport demands of its athlete's are incredible.  She was in the gym anywhere from 16-20 hours a week, year around, from the time she was 8 years old.  Her favorite poster that hung on her wall for years said, "If gymnastics was easy, they'd call it football."    Needless to say, she and A.J. had some spirited debates!   ;) ;D
