I don't recall us wearing that uniform either.

From the pic, it looks black and gray?

WIAC schools have to play each other twice to save money, etc, etc, etc...Texas High School to build $60,000,000 football stadium.

What do ya say to that, sports fans?

New location for the Stagg Bowl?  (ah, never mind)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I'm glad that I'm not a tax paying resident of the school district.

The local community passed a $120 million bond to build the stadium and a $60 million Performing Arts Center (63-37 %) to fund this.

I thought I was crazy about football but those Texans..................  I'd be curious to know how financially stable their education budget is, classroom sizes, teachers salaries, educational programs, etc. So many school districts are struggling in this environment but I guess with that kind of attendance and concessions sales, the home games have to bring in a chunk of change for the school in the fall.

413,

I cannot fathom how any school district anywhere in the country could raise a bond to cover such an enormous outlay for a stadium. I agree football is part of our school programs, but I think education and the cost of it comes first!

Another article about the stadium and referendum:

http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1074494
Thanks for doing the research.  I was too lazy busy.  It appears that their capital fund is strong and has public support.  Time will tell when the district, most likely, has to come back to the community looking for a tax increase for the education fund which is used to fund salaries, provide the educational programs and pay for the expenses and staff for all those new facilities.  Funds for school districts are controlled by law and can not be co-mingled, as the article said, and increases have to be done though separate tax referendums.  At least that is the way it is done in Illinois, and in Texas, it appears.  The community has approved increases of $339 Mil in the last year and 1/2 for bricks and mortar.  The need to increase the Ed fund usually follows pretty quickly.  I have spent  countless days/weeks/months helping an old school district try and pass many a tax referendum and as supportive as that community is so far, I doubt they will have their wallets open endlessly but hey, like I said, 18,000 people gotta eat a lot of hotdogs!   ;)  But having said all that, the stadium looks awesome.  As long as the quality of education is sound, more power to em...........

It looks as if it is a fairly wealthy suburb of Dallas that has it's priorities straight (so far) about funding education.  Hopefully they keep doing it.  Reminds me of "Friday Night Lights", but with equitable funding for ALL students.

It is very postiive if they keep education as a top priority. The rest will be a bonus!

And don't they have a lot of cash to spend after all the No Child Left Behind materials districts across the USA had to buy that were created in Texas?
Just causing trouble.
