4+ days between posts.  That must be a new WIAC PP Record!!!

Maybe baseball is just more important than football in the WIAC! :-X

UWL DB Matt Winney gets a tryout this week in the Vikings' rookie camp...

Milwaukee-Journal two weeks ago also reported these WIAC players have drawn attention from NFL scouts (sorry, I can't link to it; it was part of a Packer Insider story):

UWL's RB Reid Oldenburg has gotten some looks, too, according to the article, as well as WW K Jeff Schebler, Stout's DL Marcus Ball, and UWO's LB James Taraboi. I think I got them all...

Anybody know why the UWW-Platteville game has been moved to Thursday night, 9/30? ESPN coverage?  :D

Maybe it has something to do with the fact it's the George Chyrst Memorial Bowl game...attempting to take it to a new level and not being "just another" game.

That's an honorable idea but it will probably draw fewer Whitewater fans on a weeknight.

Maybe that's their intention - to keep the fans out of the stands!!

The reason for making the change are essentially four fold.  It was purposed by WHITEWATER and after discussions with between the athletic directors and the commissioner Platteville graciously agreed.

1.  Both teams have a bye the week before meeting so preparation time wasn't an issue.  In fact it actually gives both teams additional time to prepare for the next game.

2.  Playing on Thursday allows the student/athlete a "free" Saturday.  WHITEWATER has played 15 weekends of football for five straight years and it was felt that giving the athletes a weekend off would be of benefit to them.

3.  Night games tend to draw better than day games particularly on a Thursday night.  If the game were being played in WHITEWATER we could expect a crowd exceeding 7500.  It's hoped that the move will increase attendance in Platteville.

4.  It's something different and it's hoped that the experience will benefit the student/athlete and perhaps encourage other schools to consider Thursday night games.

5.  That Miner's Pick Traveling Trophy that goes to the winner probably looks great under the moonlight, too.

Thanks BW. I'll definitely be at the game. It is only an hour's drive for me. I hope other Warhawk fans besides me and the parents can make it to the game.

Quoteit was felt that giving the athletes a weekend off would be of benefit to them.

I'd have 'em sign an oath before the weekend based on MY past experience.   ;D

warhawkbabe

I agree D.O.C. Especially when nothing good happens on the weekends in Whitewater. It's a town just asking for trouble every weekend whether there is a game or not.

coach96

Can we somehow block Sean O'Riley.  Seriously, warhawkbabe is the name, and all they say is bad stuff about the ol' Warhawks...... :-\ hmmmmmmmm

coach96

Sorry for the poor spelling Sean, it's O'Reilly....
