I don't know if this has been mentioned on here before, but ex-Badger Booker Stanley is enrolled at UWW and has one more year of eligibility remaining and will play for the Warhawks this fall, according to this on Madison.com. Sounds like he's working hard to earn his college degree and turn his troubled past around. Leipold decided to give him a chance, although had initial reservations about the potential distractions it might cause. In three seasons as a reserve at Wisconsin, he rushed 317 times for 1213 yards and 10 TD's.

From the Article:
"Stanley hasn't played football in nearly five years, since he was suspended from the Badgers prior to their 24-10 win over Auburn in the 2006 Capital One Bowl."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that once you started playing a sport in college (NCAA), you had 10 consecutive semesters to complete your eligibility?  If he last played in January of 2006, how could he still have college eligibility left?  I only played two years (1990-1991), so if Stanley can play, then do I still have two years of eligibility left???

that all depends...what was your excuse???

I don't think that semesters in which you are not enrolled in school count.

Oops, I see Mr Ypsi has already clarified that.  I should probably check posts that are made while I'm typing mine next time.

So, I graduated in 8 semesters and only played for two.  Could I go back and play one more semester if I enrolled in a graduate program or something?  LOL

In all seriousness, yes you could, assuming you haven't enrolled in any classes at any school since you graduated.

But for grad school, you only have eligibility at the school where you did your undergrad.

Wasn't there a new rule that allowed players to transfer without penalty as long as their current school didn't offer the graduate program they were enrolling in?

I wonder if Booker can play fullback or linebacker. I think the Hawks are pretty well set at running back. One Mr. Dennis Void can attest to that.

If he's in shape, and wants to play, he could have the potential to be the best running back in the history of the league. I say if you let him on the team, give him a shot at winning the position. If not, send him packing.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

That's the spirit...if he doesn't win his position outright, tell him there's no place for him on the team and send him on a one way hike  ??? . If you were a decision maker on this team, would your opinion apply only for Stanley because of his history? Or anybody trying out for the team? I find it difficult to justify sending someone packing just because they didn't earn the first team position. That doesn't make any sense IMHO.

If you did that with everybody on the team, they'd have a roster of, what 23 or 24 players (if you wanted 1 or 2 kicking specialists).
