Guess my wording was off. I meant, if you're not going to give him a chance to win the starting job, don't even let him on the team.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I think they'll give him a chance to help the team the best way he can, just like they did a few years ago when a senior QB transferred in  ;) . I always feel it's a better problem to have too many guys that can get the job done than the other way around, IMO. Most D3 schools would do anything for a big, power back who proved he could play at the D1 level, step into their program. It'll be interesting to see what multiple years off has done to his ability. I'm optimistic.

Wouldn't be a bad thing to have more of a heavyweight tailback for short yardage situations.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Expecting him to have the potential to be the "best back in the history of the league" after he's been away from the game for five years seems a tad overly optimistic even if he is in good condition.  It would nice if it were true but it seems like a stretch.

Given what Coopage has already done how do you put someone in ahead of him?  It just doesn't make sense.  You don't mess with success.  Adding Anderson to the discussion and you've potentially got three talented running backs.  How many carries does the third running back get in a typical season.  Last year CJ Miller got 73 carries an average of about five per game.  In 2008 Donovan was the third leading rusher and  Jake Anderson had 17 carries in eight games.  Both Stanley and Anderson are too talented to get such little use of them.  So I just don't see it happening.

We graduated our fullback so that's a position of need.  True, it would be nice having more of a heavyweight tailback running in short yardage situtations but it also wouldn't hurt to have more of a heavyweight fullback blocking in front of tailbacks like Coopage and Anderson either.   Plus with Stanley at fulllback you'd probably see more carries from that position than we typically have in the past.  That, to me, makes more sense than messing with the running back rotation already in place.

But, then again,  at the time I thought Larry Bird was the worst #1 pick the Celtics ever made so what do I know.

I agree with BW. UWW may have the best trio of running backs in the country, with Coppage being arguably the best in DIII. Who even knows when the last time this stanley guy picked up a football, or spent time in a weight room?

At best, fullback may be the best fit this guy...if he can block.

Sakman 1111

Fullback is the position if he can block.....it certainly is a good problem to have.....as I recall he was a pretty good receiver coming out of the backfield which would be great.......

The eligibility clock is only running for semesters you are enrolled in school.

So, I graduated in 8 semesters and only played for two.  Could I go back and play one more semester if I enrolled in a graduate program or something?  LOL
If this guy can do it, why not you?   8-)

02 Warhawk,

My thoughts are that Mounts's QB could be Matt Piloto, 6"6" 230 Soph from Florida. You could be hearing that name if his summer camp goes like Spring did! :)

I'll be 60 in a few weeks and I've been totally gray for sometime.  When someone mentions the fact I always respond that at this age the object is to have hair.  The color of is irrelevant.  :)
