Bobo - as badgerwarhawk noted the previous year's Directors' Cup results, this is pretty close in line to normal, four teams, varied during the years, although maybe the conference snuck a fifth team into the top 25 this year... (unofficial results; I'm basing this post on my recollection, which is fading fast, as is my hair. Ha.)

I just threw it out for info only, to give our conference a tip of the cap, as perhaps how good it stacks up against all others in all sports, in the country... Of course, there are some who will note the size of the schools in Wisconsin, and maybe say that, for example, maybe winning a D3 title and scoring points in women's gymnastics, isn't all that big a deal, but I like to recognize the efforts of all the WIAC athletes, in all D3 sports...

Oh - I remember Solinsky from my days living in Point. He was an 8-time state champ in high school in Point and five timer in NCAAs - in several different distances, and in cross country. Simply a stud.

But, as Just Bill suggests, he could probably add the weight to his frame, because he was just, pure and simple, someone who trained hard and worked his ass off doing so to accomplish everything he did... (Not sure how in-depth the article was you read, but google his name to see all his feats...)

Nobody who has any clue about the sport.   ::) I was the parent of a competitive gymnast for 8 years and there isn't a sport that demands more time, focus, dedication, strength or courage than this one.  Gymnasts are some of the best athletes in the world and to be at the top of the podium, a gymnast must display near perfection in a competition.  For a team championship, 4 out 5 athletes must do it.  My daughter had a poster in her room that read, "If gymnastics were any easier, they would call it football."  Needless to say, she and A.J. had some fun discussions over the years.  ;D

The eligibility clock is only running for semesters you are enrolled in school.

So, I graduated in 8 semesters and only played for two.  Could I go back and play one more semester if I enrolled in a graduate program or something?  LOL
If this guy can do it, why not you?   8-)

I'd have A LOT of work to do to get back into shape!  HA!

Why not......I see Mount is looking for a QB this year  ;)   :D

02 Warhawk,

My thoughts are that Mounts's QB could be Matt Piloto, 6"6" 230 Soph from Florida. You could be hearing that name if his summer camp goes like Spring did! :)

I prefer the QB to be 5' 10", overweight, probably balding, too, with a pair of bad knees!!  ;)

If LK agrees with you, I've got eligibility left and fit all your criteria perfectly.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

So, it would appear the average poster on here would like to play QB at Mount in the fall, and is in the ballpark of 5' 10", overweight, balding, with a pair of bad knees -- except for footballfan413, that is!!  ;) Aren't you all a sorry bunch...I'm glad I'm with ff413 and not included in that group -- except for my bad knees and being a guy!!  ;)

That would also assume that one has to pass a phyical and run a mile within a certain time. Those requirements will eliminate many of those posters! Sorry about that! ;)

Is the conference championship record just outright titles or shared ones as well. Not to take away anthing from my alma maters success over the last five years. However in 2008 they shared the conference title with Steven's point., by virtue of the fact that UWSP got the conference's automatic bid for the playoffs and the Hawks were an at large bid. Just curious didn't know what classified as a conference title streaka nd of shared ones counted.
As for the season there are question marks, as they have a new O-Coordinator and need to replace some big time starters from last year such as QB. However one thing about Whitewater is that they don't rebuild they just reload and get ready to take it one game at a time. Never over looking an opponent, as the minute you don't bring your A-Game you are done for in the WIAC.
My guess is come mid-october they d3football world will be talking about whitewater on a weekly basis and more then likely a lot will be determined with the last game of the year against Lacrosse at Pekrins Stadium.

Rumor has it UWRF's senior QB faces a one--and possibly a two--year suspension from school for being an active participant in an off-campus fight this spring.  This comes as a result of a new law that allows campus administrators to punish students for misdemeanors occurring beyond campus borders.

I was told if the student accepts the punishment, it is for one year. If he appeals and loses, the punishment is doubled. (An interesting sidelight: the young man's mom is employed at a Twin Cities law office).

The administrator involved has directed his underlings to scrutinize Facebook accounts for evidence of wrong-doing by students who apply for on-campus jobs falling under his jurisdiction.  For example, a 20-year-old football player was fired from a summer job on campus for accepting an invitation to attend an off-campus party where alcohol would be served. (Ironically, the party was called off but the kid was denied the job nevertheless).  All legal, of course, in the adminstrator's well-thumbed book of statutes. but Big Brother's shadow grows ever larger and darker.

Interesting, considering what they let their coach get away with a few years ago.

La Crosse won 6 straight titles from '49-'54. However, 4 of the the 6 were shared.

Shared championships have been prevalent. Thirty-five (35) times since records have been kept (from 1913), the WSUC/WIAC football championship has been shared, included one stretch from '33-'57 (except for 3 years of no play during WWII) where we had at one point, 12 consecutive years with a shared championship and 16 out of 18 season ending with 2 or more teams at the top!!

The record for outright titles is 3 -- done 5 times.

I guess if you don't want any appeals, that's the way to do it...rather harsh, IMO. If the NCAA Infractions Committee had similar rules, do you think USC (or any other renegade school) would appeal the penalties imposed on them? I would think not.

BTW, I don't understand the relevance of the kids mother to this case. Am I missing something here?

Being employed by a law firm gives her and presumably him access to legal advice possibly without cost which may or may not make him more inclined to appeal and/or retain legal representation in dealing with the school.

I think many conduct consequences, especially those of student conduct have changed since 2001 at UWRF.  Comparing a coaches conduct from nearly 10 years ago to a current student-athletes conduct of a few months ago seems like a bit of a reach to me.  I really do not think that one has any relation with the other.  Just my opinion.  Also, just because that coach kept his job does not mean he was not reprimanded by the university and legal system for his actions....

Clayt Birmingham, Blue Devils defensive coordinator, will replace Duey Naatz as head coach at UW-Stout, as reported today by WEAU TV13 in Eau Claire... *
* and on the D3 football site, too. (I habitually log in under D3hoops...  ;) )
