I bet he's playing a different position.

You would think some of these guys that don't make it at QB are good enough athletes to play WR or DB.

I was coaching in the spring and Steve Morris ended up turning into the amazing receiver corp we have.  He was asked to move so if he's still on the team he's at WR

Thanks for the insight. +k

Morris was amazingly elusive at Racine.  Should fit nicely into route running at WR - so perhaps Jordan Wells spot has been filled ...
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I'm having a good feeling about this season, just like last year. Hopefully it pans out to be good, the only concern I have is the QB. I'm a little leary of Blanchard but I still have that good feeling.

No worries my friend...Blanchard couldn't of asked for a better offensive line to protect him, as well as handing the ball off to the best backfield in DIII.  He has all the tools he could possibly need to succeed.

If the team can stay injury and dilemma free this season, there's a very good chance they can repeat and have a great year and special year again.  They have all the talent in the world and the team seems to just get better each year.  The offense with the line in particular just keeps getting better and it doesn't even matter who is playing on it that allows to be great.  So Blanch and the RB's should have a great year with the front 5 and couple TE's that play to have a great season again.

Seems like they're trying their best to get as many schools on the team as possible to sell the magazine (or schools could only nominate a certain number of players). Anyway, they've really limited the number of UWW and WIAC players probably to show that they're here for everyone. That OL mentioned in 02 Warhawk's post is woefully under-represented as is the UWW LB corps. Come to think of it, that WR group is loaded, too. IMHO

There's no nomination process for Inside Wisconsin Sports teams.  They simply pick who they want.

I bought the IWS and read through the DIII conference and team reviews and was thinking the whole time, "none of these non-WIAC teams will play Whitewater?" C'mon man!

I agree that they try to get as many different WI schools involved as possible...which is fine, i don't really have a problem with that. But as far as recognizing the best tallent in WI for DIII, I'm not sure how Robbie Ustruck was left off the list. He's second team preason all-american, but he's not one of the best DIII lineman in Wisconin?? doesn't make sense. But it is nice to see different players for different teams make it....it'll look bad if the entire list is comprised of WIAC student athletes...gotta spread the love

I think that "good feeling" is warranted Jedi.  I understand your question regarding Blanchard, simply because he lacks experience, but the truth is he is a great kid, a good leader, and a freak athlete for his size (roster on Warhawkfootball.com has him listed at 6'1" 211, recent article link has him listed 6'4" 224 lol. I'd say 6'3" at least 225). As many posters have noted, the rest of the offense is loaded at every single position. In short, he will not have to put the team on his back, but he is way too talented to think he will just be a "don't screw it up" type guy. He will make plays.

My greatest "concern" is probably the secondary. From what I understand, the 'Hawks have some great athletes back there, but again the lack of experience causes the questions. I also think the defensive line has great potential, but much to prove. The linebackers are studs. I expect the hitting that occurs at The Perk to be as fun to watch as usual.

Going into last year, even with all the experience, that was my greatest "concern." With the lack of experienced bodies this year in the secondary and the way the other positions are stacked, many probably would agree. But, I'm sure they're out to prove us concerned citizens wrong (and probably will)!!  ;)

I read an article that brought up a good point regarding the kicking game. when driving in enemy territory this upcoming season, they mentioned that LL may elect to go for it on fourth down more often than we're used too seeing. mainly b/c Schebler is gone.

I think this could possibly result in even MORE scoring than last year, I know that's hard to believe. UWW had an 87% success rate on 4th down last season. With the experience of the RBs and OL, combined with the inexperience of a kicking game, i wonder if Lance just might go for it more often than not to keep the drive alive. Especially since taking the 3 points isn't as automatic as it once was. This could drive defenses nuts. Even if they don't convert, they will stay have the other pinned in their own territory.

warhawk93

That could be a great tactical advantage going into each game knowing that the other team's offense will have to keep the score up w/the warhawks this coming season if that's the case  8-)

That's definitely an interesting point. And the strategy of going for it on fourth down could very easily result in more scoring than last year. However, that strategy has some risk to it. In a great majority of games UWW will likely not NEED more points. I would be concerned that such a strategy over a season would leave UWW with a place kicker with less confidence and experience than would otherwise be the case. Then if the Hawks need a field goal to win a game, or extend a lead beyond a touchdown, the chances of winning the "close ones" could actually be reduced.
