One simple question---Is there anyone on this board that is not a whitewater fan?  How are the other teams in the conference looking?  What do you think are the good and bad things about your teams?

I think every one should take there shot at UW-Whitewater and dethrone the Monster that is backed by BIG MONEY!  Without money, it is hard to create a great program!!!!

GO WIAC miinus the Big Money Monster UWW!!!!

The thing is with BIG MONEY, from my playing experience where is all this big money coming from?  The 4 years I was on the team we had to earn everything that we got "BIG MONEY" wise.  So the reason the warhawks have all their success is because of "BIG MONEY" what about the big supporters of the program and the alumni who donate money just like they do at every other school in the United States?  Hands down the alumni are what make the facilities what they are at WW.

Doesn't sound like the rest of the WIAC has a chance against UWW this season and another trip to the Stagg is very likely!

Believing this would be a serious mistake.  You can take absolutely nothing for granted in the WIAC.  Fortunately our staff has done a good job keeping the team focused on the next opponent on the schedule.  We've got a long, tough road to go before we have any hope of being fortunate enough to earn another trip to the Stagg Bowl.  Every team that we play is going to be gunning for us.  Though it's a tired and old cliche for the WARHAWKS it's one game at a time.

Can't wait to watch the Hawks scrimmage tomorrow. Will a cheat sheet that identifies the players by number be available?

Your mission Barber Greene, if you choose to accept it, is a complete report on the days activities -- jealous folks, as in, those of us unable to join you, expect you to not only match the numbers to a name -- BY WHATEVER MEANS POSSIBLE -- but to get the inside scoop on all the story lines. Can you be awesome for us, bro?

I'm hoping one of our friends from the "other" side, otherwise known as retagent, will also finish his round of golf and get to the Perk for a report from his perspective, too!!  ;)

Bobo, I thought Blanchard looked pretty good.  He made good decisions with his passes and had a nice touch on his long ball. He also hit receivers in stride. He did throw an interception on a short corner end zone route and might have been late a couple of times on intermediate range throws to the end zone. I think he had two TD passes. One to Cory Robinson and another to Zach Howard? There were no designed running plays for him that I remember.

Cory Knapp appears to be the number 2 QB at this point. #14 is number three and #18 is number four (didn't catch their names).

Booker Stanley scored on a 2 yard run.  He ran hard when he had the ball. Not an easy guy to bring down. Like a bowling ball.

Greg Arnold appears to be the starting middle linebacker. Josh Williams didn't dress. The defense gave up no TDs and no big plays that I remember. No one really stands out in my mind with respect to the d-line or secondary.  They played solid. I didn't know many of the names behind the numbers.

I didn't gain any insight into the kicking situation.  Only extra points were kicked in the part of the scrimmage I saw.

Running back #9 showed some flashes. He may be the one that scored the other TD.

I think the Hawks won 28-0.

BP,

Great post and summary! +k :) Doesn't sound like the rest of the WIAC has a chance against UWW this season and another trip to the Stagg is very likely!

Great respect for UWW and its fans and I picked UWW #1 for the pre-season poll even if I did not have a vote!

Raider,

Thanks for the +k and kind words.  However, it is WAY premature to crown UWW or any other school with anything (of which I am sure you are very aware  ;)). I was just trying to give a capsule on each area. I am thankful for the job the coaches do in keeping the guys focused, working hard, and taking nothing for granted.  The stated goals for the program are to win the WIAC and qualify for the playoffs. They are reachable goals if the guys keep focused on getting better every day.

I have no sour grapes about WW - I jump on the bandwagon with whatever WIAC team lasts the longest.  However, I do understand what he means about is this just a WW forum?  I have 3 teams in closer geographical area and in spite of asking a couple times, no one wants to discuss any other team but WW here.  That's fine.  Perhaps we should have two threads under the western conf...one for WW and one for everyone else.   ::)  If anyone knows of any board where other teams are being discussed, please pass it along.  Otherwise good luck to you all, but I probly won't be lurking around anymore as I just don't know that much about WW.

Yes, thanks BG -- not bad for one day in pads.
I guess they didn't have a roster cheat sheet for your convienience!!  ;)

Whitewater fans are more than willing to talk about other teams. We often go to the Iowa, Ohio, Minnesota, and Northwest boards to talk about other teams.  It is just that the other WIAC fans do not talk much about their team here.
They do a better job of it during baseball and basketball season.

Fan,
I'm sure I speak for most people in saying that it would add to the enjoyment of the board to hear information and insight on the other WIAC teams.  If you can offer some info on any of the 3 teams in your geographic region, it would be greatly appreciated!  It may even encourage other non-UWW WIAC posters to add their "two cents"!

Raider 68

Barber Greene,

You are correct, some posters become upset when the posting comes mainly from supporters of UWW, St. John's, Linfield, Mount Union etc. Not sure why so many other teams are not represented on the various boards. Post patterns offers a great medium to discuss so many football issues, opinions, questions. And yes, there are times when things are said out of context, but are 90% of the time relevant to D3 football discussions.

The OAC board has long time posters (not me) who have contributed over the years, but often we try encourage other teams supporters to voice their views, it falls on deaf ears. The major complaint is that too many posts come from one school, but if the long time posters decide to stop, what happens to the interest and contribution then!

Personally, I have learned a great deal from OAC posters and from the other conferences and have made some friends in the process. This medium owes a great deal of gratitude to Pat Coleman and his team for making it all possible! :)

Hey, I'm still here!

The fact is it can be a little intimidating to talk about other teams on this board. Not that UWW fans have ever done anything to discourage it if I recall.  The truth is no matter what positives I can come up with about my team, there will always be UWW fans willing and able to top it. And in most cases they'd probably be right.  I could try to plug someone else's running back, but immediately there will be UWW fans jumping in to remind how many yards, TDs and rings guys like Beaver and Coppage have. And they'd be right.  So I think some fans decide, "Why bother?"  There's an underlying feeling that you're not permitted to talk up another team without first kneeling at the UWW alter of greatness.  I also think there are a few UWW posters (a minority for sure) who really don't care a lick about other teams. They come for the mutual pats on the back and virtual high fives from the other UWW posters. (And really, there's nothing wrong with dong that either.)

I don't think it's unusual for the dominant team in the conference to also dominate the message board chatter (Isn't that right OAC? MIAC?).  Fans are more anxious to talk about a good team than a not-as-good team, so that seems expected.  Believe it or not, when I started using this message board, UWW was a regular 4th-6th place team and there were a lot fewer of you UWW fans around.  :D  Hard to believe for some of you more recent Warhawks I'm sure, but it's true.

Still, it's not up to UWW fans to talk less about their team. It's up to other schools to get on the board and talk about their teams.  So I hope they do.

Don't forget the Midwest Conference, too. Some of the most clever & considerate posters live over there, IMO.

The MWC board illustrates my point well.  There's a new Illinois College fan "blu thru n thru", who is unashamedly confident about IC despite their non-existent history of success.  While most MWC posters have welcomed him, some have taken their shots, apparently feeling that others shouldn't be positive about their team unless they are St. Norbert or Monmouth.

Blu shows an unwavering positive attitude so they can't discourage him, but probably other posters wouldn't bother sticking up for their school time and time again.
