Let's see if I have this right...in '09 Zach Fry is the starting QB at D2 Minney-Moorhead; he decides to transfer to UWW, but quites before the end of the second week of camp -- is that right? That's a shocking turn of events. Anybody know what's going on with that?  ???

He obviously went past SJU where he knew he didn't have a ghost of a chance for some PT, so he decided to take another step down the ladder to UWW where his prospects looked brighter. ;D

I certainly wasn't trying to be at all disparaging to UW-P! I was trying to take an objective look at what they bring back and how they may compete in the WIAC. As I mentioned, I think they could be competitive in most games and spring an upset or two. If I were on the coaching staff, I would paint an entirely different picture. From a coaching standpoint, if you are competitive in a game, you should win it.  They have no reason not to have high goals.  They should not enter this season with an ounce of pessimism. Everyone is 0-0!  I was just trying to project what I thought might occur given last season, what the Pioneers lost, and the fact they are competing in the very tough WIAC.  If they win three WIAC games, I have underestimated them and my hats off to them! For the record, I hope they go 6-1.  The truth is that for personal reasons, they are my second favorite WIAC school!

I was not trying to say anything bad about your post.  Just had a different feel, as it should from the others, thus far in my opinion.

BleedPurple....You seem quite down on the outlook for Platteville.  I can only imagine what their fall camp would feel like wiht such a bleak look for the season and near future.  I suppose they are used to being in the bottom half of the WIAC, though they can get in a shootout and score with the best of them at times.

I wonder if they are the first WIAC program to recruit a female kicker?  She kicked for Waunakee High School, last year's DII state champion.

Pat,

Do you have any records of female football players competing in D-III?  It'd be interesting to know if any have played or ever scored a point.

I don't have the comprehensive list but she is not the first. Brittany Ryan, of Lebanon Valley, is the all-time points leader, I believe.

One more promo for Kickoff while I'm here: We've had great support from UWW fans this preseason, so thank you very much for that. I am here to see if there's anyone else in the WIAC who's interested: 70% of the WIAC kickoff sales are from UWW and even though we have a feature story about UWSP, there are only two UWSP fans who have bought Kickoff and one is on staff there, pretty sure.

So come join us! http://www.d3football.com/kickoff/

She is currently second on Lebanon's PAT Made list, but she still has her senior season (2010) to play out. Only the top 3 scoring leaders are posted and she wasn't one of them....yet.

Pat Coleman

All-time points leader for women playing college football. I suspect that the players ahead of her at Leb Val were men, yes? :)

Plus, how would it look if the administrator wins the whole thing...you are the odds-on favorite every year, don't you know?

Maybe someone will come forward in the next week -- the call has been put out!!  ;)

Well................that is a legitmate point, BoBo, but now I have given away all my secrets!  LOL  ;D

Maybe Nate will show up again, he usually does just before the season begins.

I never leave...I just lurk :)

I'll keep track of the pickem again this year unless somebody else really wants to.  It's almost time for another fun season in the WIAC!

Awesome, Nate.  Thanks so much.  You saved me!  And great job, Bleedpurple for all the WIAC previews.  Now, if I can just find some time to read them and kick off............. ;)
