Willamette fan here, just wondering if anyone knows whether or not Stevens Point will have a video stream of the game tomorrow.  As much as I love our radio guys, there's just something cool about being able to watch the game.

Thanks!

"That's the game that we're just drooling to go play." Danny Taylor, Adrian College Team Captain (quoted on lenconnect.com).

They say that dogs that are nauseated drool excessively. Does it work with people too?

Don't think so BP. They've had trouble embracing the technology -- no video, no live stats. The WIAC links page.

I watched much of the live stats and that was a close game and the stats bear it out. Without the 2 late RF TO's, it could have gone either way.

So UW-RF plays ONU really tough. Tougher than most of us would have imagined. I've been thinking through what that means.  Some possibilities are:

1. Any given Saturday...
2. 11th Ranked ONU is over-rated.
3. The bottom teams of the WIAC would be competitive in almost every other conference.
4. UW-RF is drastically improved.
5. For whatever reason, UW-RF matched up well with ONU.
6. There is far less difference between the highly ranked teams and the unranked teams (maybe aside from the top two :) ) than we could have imagined.

I know it's only a matter of hours before there are more games and this will only be a W for ONU and an L for UW-RF. But in the meantime, any thoughts? One of these? A combination? A different explanation entirely?

Here's my 2 cents based on 20+ years of following Mount:

1. Any given Saturday...  very true outside of the top handful of teams

2. 11th Ranked ONU is over-rated.  true.  ONU "should" be good and has a shot at MTU and a playoff birth, but they've historically been inconsistent.  They often drill someone they shouldn't but then lose or struggle against someone they should drill.  Very hard team to figure out from week to week.

3. The bottom teams of the WIAC would be competitive in almost every other conference.  partially true.  There are some really, REALLY bad D3 teams and conferences across the nation that the bottom of the WIAC would dominate.  But I couldn't say the it's the majority.  The OAC, CCIW, NWC, NJAC, ASC and MIAC are all tough.  Not as tough at the bottom as the WIAC, but the top is very good.

4. UW-RF is drastically improved.  I have no idea.

5. For whatever reason, UW-RF matched up well with ONU.   No idea

6. There is far less difference between the highly ranked teams and the unranked teams (maybe aside from the top two :) ) than we could have imagined.  True.  Mount and UWW have clearly distanced themselves from the rest of D3.  IMHO, the next 20 to 30 teams are pretty interchangeable and any of them could beat the other on any given day.  Then the next 30 or 40 aren't that far behind, but are lacking something that often bites them.   And the bottom 100 shouldn't be playing at all.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

"We want to shock the world and we want to go make a statement. They are a very good team. That will be the best team I will ever play in my life. Wisconsin-Whitewater, the defending national champs, that's the game that we want to go out and show the world what we can do. That's the game that we're just drooling to go play." Danny Taylor, Adrian College Team Captain (quoted on lenconnect.com).

Man, these guys really ARE Bulldogs, aren't they?  ;D

I will be shocked if UWW is ahead by less than 3 TDs by halftime.  Having said that, yes, the Bulldogs are unlikely to show any quit.  They will be totally overmatched, but not overawed.  You could probably easily win with your 'C' game, but if you bring your 'D' game you could be in for a 'dogfight'! ;D

Getting realistic, I'll predict 63-7 as a final (and, no, I'm not predicting Adrian has the 63). ;)

Thanks, BoBo.  I'll tough it out the old fashioned way, I guess. ;)  +K

Great analysis HSCoach! I would give you a +k if not for those INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING point spreads you put out!  ???

OK, I'll let it go.... +k  ;)

Adrian College at UW-Whitewater preview:

EC has video listed on the school website.  Right now it is showing volleyball, so I assume it will also show the game tonight.

MasterJedi

I'm totally pumped up and ready for this game. I'll be in the stands cheering them on and hopefully bleedpurple's prediction is right so I can be cheering my ass off in the stands.  :P

Was listening to Adrian's webcast and heard this..

UWW 35 - Adrian 0

What did bleedpurple predict? Was it 38-0?  Three Warhawk missed XP's + 35 = 38...hey, bleedpurple, that sounds like a winner -- nice job young man!!  8-) +k

Nice job by Matt Blanchard, too.  19-25 289 2 TD's passing ; rushing 5-46 1 TD.  Played with poise and was real sharp in his throws. Running game a modest 37 attempts for 183 yds (4.9 avg).

Defense: gave up under 100 in both passing and rushing, 0 points ; a few missed tackles, played a lot of combinations ; I think they'll be pretty good. Matt McCulloch & Lane Olson 9 tackles, Greg Arnold 8, Max Ford 7. Luke Hibner played a good game.

Kicking: LL had nice words for the young kicker Guelff after missing 3 XP -- had trouble with the wind then over-compensated, nervous, homesick, but he said he has a big leg and he'll be back...Kindler did a good job.  Guelff did have 2 assisted tackles.

Coaches made nice adjustments between 1st and 2nd quarters -- actually after each quarter. Not having any film to look at helped Adrian and their new QB at the beginning.  But Warhawks instints, speed and too many athletes was too much to over-come. Adrian only threatened once, but a missed 38 yard field was all they could muster.

Congratulations to UW-Oshkosh for playing a perfect game against the Dutch.  I figured that if you had 4 losses by a TD or less, you would be good.  I didn't plan on you making us look so mediocre, or at times downright bad on special teams and defense.  Central is normally very strong on special teams and your opening kick return had to be stopped by the kicker.  Then on our first punt return we fumble the ball setting up great field position.  Yikes!  The QB was very deceptive and the no huddle offense really threw our D off their game.  We didn't get a single turnover.  Congratulations again for bringing it.

BoBo, don't know what to tell you about Oshkosh on this one.  They played a fantastic game, but not sure how much the unexpected death and funeral this week of our head coach's brother at age 36 might have played into Central's performance.
