Sure hope you're right about the upset, but if it happens, the very inexperienced Falcon D will have to step up, no leap up, to a level above expectations.

Even d3football.com reported what Joel Badzinski of The La Crosse Tribune reported with the match-ups. Just going with the original source!!  ;)

This is true. But he emailed it to us and we published it first by several hours. That's why I pointed it out.

Stop the scoring... it's 70-0 Warhawks over Dakota State...another bleedpurple special...stop the scoring!!   ;)

Oh, what a shame...

:45 seconds left Dakota State gets a 31 yard TD pass to a wide open receiver...chalk that up to too many defensive substitutions.

I was almost going to call bleedpurple the new Paul the Octopus in Whitewater predictions...

I think we can still call him that since he was so close.

70-7 final

Congrats Osh Kosh on not quitting.  Mount on the other hand.....has a LOT of work to do!

No running game to speak of, and a defense that just looked lost at times.

That is not a typical Mount defense for sure.  A lot of work to do in the coming weeks.

GREAT game WW......... ::)  I know I hated those kind of games when Mount had them.  It's just ugly...

RF made a game of it for about a quarter and a half, at which point a Falcon fumble on their own 40 resulted in a Tommie TD and a lead of 14-3, the half time score. That play turned it around for the Tommies.

First downs were even at 17, time of  possession greatly favored RF, but the UST  superior passing attack and mistake free football eventually won it for St. Thomas.

On the basis of one game, I think they would finish high in the WiAC, but  not win it.

Final:  UST 27, RF 3.

Great to see Osh and LX hang with a pair of top 10 D3 teams today....Would of loved to see a one of the two win today.

As far as the UWW game went today, i almost felt bad for S. Dakota St.. Just seeing them come out of the locker room, they were vastly undersized. Our offensive line had little trouble creating running lanes for Coppage, Anderson, Booker, Willy the Warhawk mascot, etc, etc etc. I think Coppage only played half of the first quarter and still had 100 yards and two TDs. For the second game in a row Blanchard had a beautiful touch on his deep ball, with extended TD passes to Brandes and Rusch. I think 6 different RBs had carries today, and three different QBs took the ball under center. I guess winning games like these are great for the second and third stringers, as they receive quality(?) playing time.

The defense gave little time for their QB to throw the ball today. it seems like he was running for his life in the backfield. However, SDSU did have some success in their three-step drops . They connected on a handful of quick slants, but other than that they had nothing going. The DBs were challenged a little bit more this week than last week. but still....tougher challenges lay ahead. On a side note South Dakota  did finish the day with negative rushing yards (taking into account of all the QB sacks.)

UWL hung with Mary Hardin-Baylor for 2.5 quarters, even outplayed them, leading 19-0, after taking a 12-0 lead into halftime... MHB was playing its first game of the year, and didn't show up until after half time.... ;)

After the Eagles went up 19-0 in the third, the Crusaders finally captured momentum that was lacking all game and answered with a 6-play drive to get on the board, then forced UWL's offense to go three-and-out on its next two possesions, while they scored twice to take the lead 21-19 on the first play in the 4th quarter...

MHB then forced two more three-and-out series, but the offense turned it over on a striped fumble, giving UWL the ball at MHB's 49, with about 11 minutes left... UWL then put together a nice 11-play drive, chewed up about 5 minutes, and faced a 4th and 9 at the 13....

They brought in the kicker, and missed the field goal... (The regular kicker was out; the replacement, a freshman, had made two earlier FGs, from 33 and 37, but also missed a PAT)... I was watching from outside the stadium when this play occurred, so I am not sure what happened - if it was a bad snap? All I could see was all hell breaking loose up the middle, but the I believe it was the holder who got smeared for a loss of 12. I did see the kicker stutter step, so not sure if it was a bad snap, or maybe even a fake? Maybe our UWL posters were there to clarify... Ball then went over on downs, thwarting a potential 22-21 UWL lead...

MHB then drove the down field and kicked a FG, to make it 24-19...

After the kickoff, UWL started its final drive at the 22, with 1:46 left, and had probably its ugliest series all day - four plays, minus three yards, including a sack, and two incomplete passes, the final one on fourth and 13 on a desperation, not-the-first-option short pass that probably would not have moved the chains had it been caught...

UWL's O line played well again, and the D looked good until they gave up MHB's first score. The next two short series on offense put them right back out there, though, and they looked a bit gassed... Crusaders were able to grind out 242 on the ground....UWL only had 218 total yards on offense; Lee Lauters had 96 of it on 25 carries, with a TD from 22 yards out, untouched...

And now the editorial comment of the day: It's a shame, after UWL had 4,248  fans last weekend, only had 1,580 against the #6 team in the nation, on a beautiful afternoon. I'm not a body language expert, but I watched the Crusaders leave the field. There wasn't a lot of swagger, and not a lot of celebration. I think they were drained, exhausted, and realized they were in a dogfight the whole game with a UWL team that scrapped and stayed with them.... It's too bad there weren't the fans in the stands to back the Eagles and appreciate that they played their guts out...

From the Crusader game recap - it confirms the missed FG was a bad snap... Also noted was the 19-point, second-half comeback was the Crusaders' largest in its 13-year history...

I think Oshkosh is going to score a ton of points this year, and make a run at second place.

Just got back to Milwaukee after watching the game in person. UWO offense looked good...but had two costly fumbles on their side of the field in the first half which both led to MU TDs. The offense seemed able to score to keep the Titans in the game but the defense couldn't get pressure on the MU QB at all...very little pressure on the QB gave the secondary headaches trying to cover a very talented MU receiving corps. I'm not sure what skunks_sidekick was referring to about no rushing offense to speak of for MU...they ran the ball effectively in the 2nd half to control the ball possession.

I agree, UWO offense is going to score lots of points this year. While starting 0-2, I still feel good about their conference games about to begin  8-)

Best of luck to MU rest of the way...and best of luck to the Titans!

My predictions:  Steve Guelff will nail four extra points and two field goals today!  Go get em Steve!  Stay healthy my friends!

Kindler went 10 for 10 on extra points and his kickoffs were deep.  Guelff did get in for a couple of kickoffs but they weren't any better than those Kindler had.  My hunch is that Kindler will travel with the team to Kentucky next weekend.  But don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind seeing Guelff get himself back into the equation.

The program is stagnating and I think the locals would like to see some life blown back into it. The worst thing for Larry Terry may be that a football guy just got hired as AD. Losing last weekend to a team they beat on the road last year who isn't considered all that special lowered the excitement and expectations quite a bit.

I don't want to put words in skunks_sidekick's post, but I think the point was that it wasn't a running attack up to the usual Mount standards. The running game might've been good for most teams, but Mount fans have come to expect much better than that. IMO.
