Taking a break after an early morning of starting work today. Hoping to catch part of the LaCrosse/Oshkosh game tonight. Was thinking that I should review the "Paul the Octopus" UW-W prognosticating performance to date:

Paul
UWW 38
Adrian 0
(Actual: UWW 35  Adrian 0)

Paul
UWW 70
Dakota State 0
(Actual: UWW 70 DS 7)

Paul
UWW 34
Campbellsville 10
(Actual: UWW 37  Campbellsville 7)

Paul
UWW 45
UWP  14
(Actual UWW 49 UWP 17)

Self-indulgent? yeah, but why not while I can??  ;D

That "Paul The Octopus" is another brilliant mind!! Won't be long before CNN picks up on it.  ;)   :D

And if he's not even close next week, you won't hear another peep about him from me!  ;D

He could be dead wrong one of these weeks. After all.....

My apology to Blue Devil Bob for  my non-thinking remark a few days ago about BP not being a popular set of initials these days. I realize that local owners/operators of BP Amoco stores are contributors to the economy and to athletic programs/other entities in their communities.

Just curious, why was the game played on a Friday?

It was played Thursday.  But you already know that.

Because both teams had a bye the weekend before they wanted to play a little earlier so there wasn't as much time between games.  Also it gives the athletes a rare weekend off.  It was Coach Leipold's idea.  He contacted Emendorfer who agreed and after agreeing to some concessions the commissioner's office approved the change.

I hope they WIAC does more Thurs night games.  P-ville & WW only 2 hours apart so players can be back to class on Fri am & no overnights will save on costs.  The same could be said for WW & Osh, Osh & SP, P-ville & LaX and EC, Stout & RF.  Since most WIAC schools are suit case schools it should increase student attendance and I can personally vouch it did not impact the Thursday night attendance at the bars (I mean library).  The WI State Journal had a front page above the fold headline & color picture about the game instead of the Sunday conference re-cap the WIAC usually gets on page 3 or 4.  My read is lower travel costs, better attendance and better coverage why not do it more often?

Sounds like a lot of positives. I'm sure it especially works after a bye week, given the "short week" it would create after a Saturday game.

From a parents perspective only.  I like Saturday games.  Do not have to take off work to drive to the game, can tailgate before and after.  If it is home, you can take your kid/player out to dinner and drive back late and not have to get up to go to work the next day.  I could see a game a year on Thursday, but not much more than that.

Eau Claire and Point game...live video, stats, and audio.  Video and audio actually working together.

EC takes opening kickoff and scores a TD on a short pass.  Strong running effort by Sweeney and short passes led to the score. EC went no-huddle the entire drive.

Nice!...i was looking for a good D3 game to watch. no video for UST/SJU game, same with Ohio N/MU.

I was listening to the mount game on their radio feed, but their announcer was flat out obnoxious....screaming into the microphone...i turned it off after 30 seconds. far cry from the Voice  ;)

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that Steven's Point is out of conference contention just like that. I guess it's up to Stout, Eau Claire and Oshkosh to try and take it away from UWW, though I also believe none of them can.  :P

Johnnies just lost a heart breaker to St. Thomas...SJU scored a would-be game tying touchdown, but missed the extra point in OT to lose 26-27.
