Manuel, La Crosse has the new turf since they rebuilt their stadium.

What a change a year makes...when I brought up the idea of playing all the games at Camp Randall about a year ago, most everyone said it was a stupid (not exactly that word) idea - but that's what it felt like. I seem to remember most not exactly thrilled about it. Some new ideas just take time to digest. I do remember BDB indicating his choice of tailgate location - but I thought that was in pay-back for his assistance in being part of the sponsorship of the endeavor (or maybe not  :-\ )!!  ;)

Thanks Raider 68 - and back at ya, too!!  ;)

Has anyone thought of this idea for next year:

Let's play all four non-conference (conference) games at Camp Randall - All on the same day!!

This would be awesome showcase for the conference and a great reward for kids staying in state to play college football.

Does anyone on this board have the pull to get this done by next fall?
I am going to mention it to the new AD at UW-River Falls.

Let me know what you think?

i'll see what i can do...

As a former player in WSUC, I would have loved to play at Camp Randall.  In high school, we made it to the State semi's and played that game a Baldwin-Woodville's field--Awesome NOT!

I really truly think it would be great for the players and fans.

I think the schools need those gate receipts, especially now.

02 Warhawk,

Think Camp Randall will sell out when the Buckeyes visit in a few weeks? ;D ;D

that might be a safe bet....hell, it would sell out if the Warhawks came to visit.  ;)

I remember a mid-90s NCAA III Tournament game at Camp Randall between Mount Union and UW-La Crosse.  IIRC, it was UWL's home game but due to a ton of snow and sleet during the previous week's game, UWL's field was trashed. Rather than move the game to Mount Union, UWL worked out an arrangement to play at Camp Randall which might have been the only artificial surface in the state at the time.

I think the schools need those gate receipts, especially now.
Our High School's conference used to play their games there one all day Saturday session every couple of years. The UW then increased the cost, so they don't do it anymore. I believe when they did it, the schools got half the cost of the tickets sold.

That was with smaller schools, I would think with D3 college attendance, that it would be more cost effective. It could also generate revenue from ticket sales. I think you could double a "normal" ticket sale price and use it as a small revenue source.

The bigger problem would be that only two schools are relatively close. The rest would be a bit of a drive, but no different if you would go to the two close schools.

As far as wanting to play there, I would ask the players. I think you would be surprised to see they would like it. I am sure most, if not all, had a dream of playing at the D1 level and getting a game or two in a D1 stadium could be a big motivator. It could also be a good recruiting tool from other states.

I don't think this will ever happen...the WIAC is looking to reduce traveling costs, hence the non-conference WIAC games starting next season. Playing at Madison will only increase traveling costs, as each of the eight teams will be dropping $$$$ to travel to Madison. Compared to the current schedule in place where only four teams will be required to travel, while the other four stay at home.

BPD3 Level System Top 25
To add to the intrigue and fun of the ranking system, I am creating "Levels" within the Top 25. In the "Level System", I will be grouping teams that are reasonably comparable in my opinion and exposing where I believe there is a drop-off of some kind between ranks.

Is there anyone "intruding" on Level 1 with UW-W and Mount Union?

Where do the "breaks" occur between levels?

Looking forward to North Central vs. Wheaton to see where North Central really stands.  During recruting trip two years ago, the head coach had his sights firmly set on competing against WIAC teams and going deep into the playoffs.   Glad you posted the levels, gives us more to think about and will spice up the dialogue.

I'm glad to see they finally came around to schedule WIAC teams this season.

WarhawkDad

With the WIAC and CCIW so close in proximity, it still bothers me that they have not tried to schedule these non-conference games betweent the two conferences to save travel and money.   I hate the idea of playing another conference team twice in a year.   >:(

We actually did have this discussion some months ago. I called the tailgate spot next to footballfan413.  8-)

I wouldn't do it at Camp Randall however. I'd rotate it around the WIAC stadiums over the years.

I don't know, BDB.  With only one spot on either side of me, we may have to hold a lottery.   :D ;D ;D :-* :-*

BTW, test came back negative last week!  Clean bill of health, (so far) for a certain ex-Warhawk linebacker!!!!  :)
