Are there any of the UWW fans on here thinking they may get knocked off this weekend against Stout?  Kinda interesting none is talking about the game on here one bit.

I know Stout has not fared well as of late against UWW no one has), but still surprised at the lack of chatter over this one.  First time I have choosen against my beloved Devils on the Pick 'em, but would gladly get it wrong.

DBG your obviously looking at WIAC stats.  I want to provide a little more detail and maybe what might separate the two teams and hopefully from my perspective the outcome.

The only thing that scares me is a really solid passing attack with a good offense line. that might give their inexperienced DBs trouble. As shown in a couple of series at UWP last week. I'm not too scared of giving up tons of rushing yards, b/c I love our LB's. With UWW's offensive line, and their running game...it'll be a tall task for Stout to come into UWW and win.

Then again...i was probably thinking the same thing a few years ago on homecoming when Point beat us.

UWW           49     47     69     26
Opponents     7     10     0     14

26 points in the fourth for the Hawks b/c the foot is off the throttle.....they run the ball and run out the clock

Not only is the foot off the throttle but in 3 out of 4 games this season the third string QB and offensive line was in by that time.  From my observation and I watch the O-Line most closely, the second string O-line has been coming in during the middle of the third quarter and playing until the middle of the 4th.  Only time that did not happen was during the Dakota State game, where substitutions happened even quicker and the 4th and 5th string backs were in during the 4th quarter.

The only WIAC-only stats that are important to me after 1 game into the conference season:

UWS - Fri, Sep. 3     Black Hills State University (S.D.)  Spearfish, SD L 13-14 OT
UWW - Sat. Sep. 11 Dakota State University (S.D.)     Whitewater WI W 70-7
BHSU - Sat. Sep. 25 Dakota State University (S.D.)     Spearfish, SD W 14-9  (WOW)

Maybe Stout has been playing possum all along just for this one week? Then why would they flatten Eureka 63-0?

Here are the posters picking UWW - desertcat1, 02 Warhawk, oshfb, palum, fredfalcon, bleedpurple, MasterJedi, Devil Badger Gopher, Barber Greene, seventiesraider, BoBo, badgerwarhawk - TOTAL picking UWW 12 (exactly 50% UWW fans)

Here's the poster picking Stout - BlueDevil Bob - TOTAL picking Stout 1

So, to answer your first question - No.

The more relevant question is (and it's a long one):
Why would a Stout fan, who quotes a bunch of meaningless stats from 1 game against an 0-5 team, try to convince a group of UWW fans that Stout actually has a chance to win this sat., but on top of it, he didn't even pick his Blue Devils to win?!! My advice is to talk to BDB and maybe he can talk you into changing your pick.  ;)

Interesting no one is talking about this game? Not really in my opinion.

And you lost me with this, too - "UWW being in blowouts, teams haven't tested their rush D."  Here's hoping the emerging juggernaut Stout offense tests them for the first time in 2010. Let's see what they're really made of!!  ;)

It's a college football game where both teams know how to run the ball. Two years ago in Whitewater this game was very close.

Obvious upset if Stout wins this game. But upsets happen all the time in sports.

Agreed.  Even with our dominance the last several years, there is always a few teams that I traditional worry about more than others.  Stout is at the top of that list, (especially when played in their house,) and the Pointers who proved fairly recently that the Hawks are not invincible.  While my fear of the Blu Golds and the Eagles has waned since 07, they can be dangerous also if we ever phone a game in.  The Blue Devil's are traditional a proud program, very well coached and a hard hitting physical team so hey, do I think it warrants a little banter?  Absolutely!!!  Will I pick them to upset the Hawks?  Nope.   ;)

My Dear BoBo, let's keep in mind that we love and want to encourage banter and exchange between posters from other programs.   But I do love your enthusiasm.  :-* :-* :-*

Heading to the Perk tomorrow early. Feel free to stop over for the best Bloody Mary's in the parking lot!

I just read that Zwiefel's son is out for the year over in Dubuque...hopefully he can get a medical readshirt.

Oh, come on people - it wasn't that bad. I've seen much worse w/o the wrist slap.  ;)

If you recall that game against Stout 2 years ago, Donovan when down with the injury and Langer, outside of an early TD run, did nothing. Might have been the worst Warhawk offensive production since that UMHB game in Texas. The defense saved the day and I believe a Stout dropped sure TD pass late helped. Stout played solid D that day, but the Warhawks were just a little better. Langer didn't return to the program in '09. I think lessons were learned - they haven't have a close regular season game since.  ;)

Be careful Bobo  :D  someone might actually decrease your karma!   ;)   Not me, I have not been around long enough to have that ability!!

I do think that the National statistics prove the point I was trying to make and your BlackHills vs Dakota State score does as well.  Upsets do happen, but at the Perk on what will most likely be the largest crowd this year.......doubtful.

Langer did connect on a long TD to Rusch that game as well, which came after his TD run. But yea, that was a rough game offensively for the men in purple..That's when stout still had Marcus Ball. Langer only completed 8 of 22 passes, and coppage had only 61 yards rushing....slim pickings against a stout defense.

On today's Triple Take:

Pat's take: No. 17 UW-Eau Claire at UW-Platteville. The Blugolds have had a tendency to drop a puzzling game over the past years (2007 and 2008 vs. UW-River Falls, for example). Teams know not to take anyone in the WIAC lightly, but perhaps Eau Claire might get caught with an eye ahead to next week's game against UW-Whitewater and take a little while to put the Pioneers away.

I hope the WIAC scores gets posted during the UWW game (Badgerwarhawk...make it happen  ;) )

Question for Mr. Coleman...

Is the new D3football.com website still being worked on, or is what we see the final product? I'm asking b/c on the old site we were able to look at each team's previous records over the past 10 years or so...I believe there were also links to view the box score for each of those games in the past.

As of right now, you can only go back a few years, and the box score links aren't available I believe.

I was just curious...thanks and keep up the good work.
