Oh, come on people - it wasn't that bad. I've seen much worse w/o the wrist slap.  ;)

If you recall that game against Stout 2 years ago, Donovan when down with the injury  and Langer, outside of an early TD run, did nothing. Might have been the worst Warhawk offensive production since that UMHB game in Texas. The defense saved the day and I believe a Stout dropped sure TD pass late helped. Stout played solid D that day, but the Warhawks were just a little better. Langer didn't return to the program in '09. I think lessons were learned - they haven't have a close regular season game since.  ;)

That's how games, and upsets happen Bobo. You might say that an opponents bad offensive production was because of the WW defense. In this case, I will say it's was because of the Stout defense.

This game will be a good D3 collegiate contest.

Um, that would be sarcasm...

It seems to me UWW fans, after 4 games, are the ones who is looking past opponents to week 15, not the rest of the teams in the league...

You see the thing about that bulk is that it really doesn't matter who the fans look past.  They aren't playing and they don't have anything to do with the outcome of a single game.  No one, even the great BoBo ;) has ever posted anything here that has had anything to do with the outcome of a game.  So the fans could be looking to 2011 and it would be insignificant and meaningless.

I know for a fact the team and staff look past no one.  Though it's a tired and worn cliche their attitude is one game at a time and try to improve each week.  I'm reasonably assured that there is a strong possibility the BluGolds have the same attitude and if they should lose to Platteville (I picked EC) it won't be because they were looking towards us.  It will be because Platteville outplayed them.

BTW bulk EC is having a good season.  Where are their supporters?  I haven't seen many of them in these parts. ???

Precisely, badgerwarhawk... you have made my point. By saying "UWW fans," I purposely left out the Warhawks team/players/staff; by saying rest of the teams in the league, I was also referring to players/staff/team. I did so, having followed this conference for about 35 years now, because I realize, and appreciate, the level of talent, commitment, desire and whatever else it takes from the athletes to be successful, is all that counts...

And they are the ones who, despite our prognostications over the years, are the ones who go out on the field to compete, to either prove us right, or wrong. They, ultimately, are the ones who strap the gear on each week. And I don't think the players in this conference get caught up in who they are playing in the next week before they've even started the game at hand. These kids compete and will always do so, no matter what. And they do it week by week...

Even if it, as we fans might all believe, is a case of David vs. Goliath. And we all know how that one turned out. That's why perceived underdogs get on the bus to play...

And I, too, know for a fact that the Blugolds are not looking past Platteville, toward WW...

I try to deafen myself from the chatter when I make my picks.  I am perfectly capable of being wrong on my own!  ;D

I actually had to change my pickem picks (if that is even legal) after I wrote up the blog because early in the week i picked Eau Claire.  I am bucking my usual trend in that Platteville is last in the league in total defense, but I just thought I'd take a shot. One reason is the Red Zone statistics I cited. Platteville also is good at pressuring the QB and UW-EC is last in the WIAC allowing 14 sacks.  I acknowledge it will be an upset, but this IS the WIAC !

Since I like making predictions, I'm going to make one I'm more sure of than the outcome of the game:

Today's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner will be one of the best ever at Perkins' Stadium!

DON'T BE LATE!!! You'll be glad you weren't...  ;)

Will UW-Stout be the Warhawk's toughest and only test for the regular season? :-\

Whoa!  I'm a UWEC fan.  Games are fun to go to, attendance is great, their band is FANTASTIC. Next week is EC family week and I am sure the place will be packed, unless the weather is atrocious.
I can tell you that the Blugolds do not want to take the week against UWW off.   And they would have loved to played UWW pre-season also.  UWW is the team to beat and everyone wants a shot at them.  Whining???  No way!!
Is it disappointing to be in a conf with the perennial top team?  Maybe.  It does make it harder to get to the playoffs.  But if you don't want to compete...get off the field.  These players (and I am sure I speak for other teams also) are ready to go.  Sooner or later, someone's going to knock off WW, and every team wants to be the one.
And no team is dumb enough to look beyond any game in WIAC.  Any given Saturday.....
And I don't know where the other EC fans are.  Seems there was one posting...should be more....
After the Blu Gold's played North Central College in Naperville, the CCIW board was lit up with much deserved praise of the visiting UW-EC band.  Not only their musical talent but their level of enthusiasm, sportsmanship, (applauding NCC band,) and even staying around to play after game.  Sounded like they ARE fantastic and it was greatly appreciated by many in the NCC crowd.  Very well done!

Platteville vs EC was a tough choice, even for this EC fan.  EC has pulled off the big plays to win a couple OT's.  But how long can they keep that up?  If a team can stop Sweeney, EC struggles.  Although their soph qb is improving all the time, and so are their soph/jr receivers.
LaCrosee vs RF was also a tough pick.
And UWSP.
Isn't it kinda boring being a WW fan??  ;D

I think every team concentrates hard on the game at hand, but of course there is always that eye to the future.  I look at EC...only five starting seniors....what will next year bring?

fballfan

Yes, the EC band is a treat.  They stay the entire game and play and cheer for the team during and after.   They really boost the atmosphere.  THEY ROCK!!    The band is appreciated by the fans and team alike.
