It must feel good to get off the schneid. Happy to oblige :)

I did quote your entire post. I have no dog in this fight. I am simply making the point that for someone who doesn't want to appear to be disrespectfull you sure spend a lot of time explaining what appears to be a lack of respect. That's how it came off to me. But I'm just 1 poster.

Thats the problem with words, texts, emails.  Hard so see the silly smile behind them.

Bobo,

Against UWEC, North Central lined up Crackel, Stanek, Tassio, and Hicks at some points at QB. Stanek started the first game but was replaced by Crackel after he threw a couple quick interceptions in the second game against Olivet. Stanek is a better runner than Crackel, but Crackel is making better decisions right now. The UWEC game was Crackel's first start since high school. He looked shaky at times. Crackel looked like he didn't want to run, and when he did he ran like a statue. He also threw the ball away several times instead of trying to squeeze a ball in. Tassio was All State as a quarterback in high school, and is used mostly as a running back although he did take a number of snaps at QB. Hicks lines up at QB when they run the Wildcat. North Central has gone from throwing 40 times a game in 2009 to 25 this year.

Spent some time looking at the stats for North Central and Wheaton and it is very interesting.  While North Central holds the edge on a majority of categories, the one that stuck out for me is that Wheaton has generated 22 turnovers while North Central has only generated 11.   If Wheaton can force North Central to turn over the ball, it will certainly negate any of the other advantages.  While you might say that is the case in most ballgames, that its true, but the statistics support that Wheaton has done it this year.

Thoughts?

Hey BoBo:

If UWEC's porous defense had given up 34 points to SJU, like the Johnnies are averaging so far, instead of 20,

and 30.5 to UWSP, instead of the 13 they gave up to the Pointers, they would be be 1-5 right now....

I don't think it was the Blugold offense that was on the field holding those two teams to below what they have been averaging so far this year....

Since I didn't see UW-EC's porous defense in the SJU or UW-SP game, I didn't comment about that and don't see how I can now. I'll leave those hypothetical questions for you to answer. What I said in my initial comment and every subsequent comment is that it was my opinion that the EC defense that I watched last saturday vs UWW was the softest I have seen in the WIAC in a long time. This is now the third time I've made the exact same comment. I never made any mention to any other game....I did see portions of the Bethel game. But, since I was doing a couple other things at the same time, my attention level was off and on, so any comment I have about that wouldn't be real objective. The score alone would appear to indicate that that game was no defensive gem by either team.

If I understand where you are heading with your 2nd comment, I think you are saying without saying that the only possible explanation for SJU and UW-SP playing under their yearly point average was the EC defense or special teams that were keeping them from scoring, right? Would you ever consider it had something to do with the ineptitude of the SJU and Pointer offense that shared a role in their less than average days/nights?  ;)

Congrats to AJ's defense and rest of the Cougars, 413.  I noticed that they finally came out on top of one last Saturday.

Actually I am complimenting 413 because I am a karma whore and hoping she'll toss one my way.  :D

I was looking over the WIAC press release this week and one stat in particular stands out for me:

RED ZONE DEFENSE    G  RedZone  Percent TDs   R/P     FG-AT    Fumb/Int/Downs/Other
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. UW-Whitewater...   6    2-5         40.0      1     1/0      1-3       0/ 0/ 1/ 0
2. UW-Platteville......    6   15-25      60.0     11     9/2     4-8       1/ 1/ 4/ 0
3. UW-Stevens Point....6   15-21      71.4     12    6/6      3-5      1/ 0/ 3/ 0
4. UW-River Falls......    6   25-32      78.1     23    11/12  2-4      0/ 0/ 3/ 2
5. UW-La Crosse........  6   15-19      78.9     11    6/5      4-6       0/ 1/ 0/ 1
6. UW-Oshkosh.......... 6    25-30      83.3     18    8/10    7-9       0/ 0/ 1/ 2
7. UW-Eau Claire.......  6    22-26      84.6     18   14/4    4-5        2/ 0/ 1/ 0
8. UW-Stout............    6    14-15      93.3      8     3/5      6-6       1/ 0/ 0/ 0

Hard to believe UWW's defense has only allowed opponents to enter the redzone 5 times this season :o. and this is with our second and third team defense playing most of the second half in most games....very impressive.

BoBo

Nice find 02 Warhawk...5 red zone chances in 6 games - that's really sick!!  ;)

One other oddity - I dialed in the WIAC board today, and I thought the CCIW broke out - what's up with that?  :D   ::)

Agreed. +1 for the find. These sorts of things are why I read all the message boards. (Well, that and the moderator role I'm supposed to provide.)

Anyone else expecting a strong dose of AA, with a dash of Coppage? Personally I feel that River Falls will be a cupcake, though UWW can't take them lightly. Play Coppage but give him fewer carries so he can continue to heal and don't play Stanley unless necessary. AA and the passing game should be enough to get this game done, I'll predict 52-0.  :o  Prepair for an epic fail on my prediction!  8-)

I hope there's no Coppage or Stanley...just a heavy dose of AA and Pirtle, in my opinion. RF does have the WIAC's leading rusher (an ex-warhawk i believe), but still...with UWW's run defense, your prediction might be closer than you think  ;)

While they might have the WIAC's leading rusher, like you said they haven't faced a defense like UWW's yet. And while they have the leading rusher we have the top three, and though it's obviously up for debate, the top four running backs in the league.

Right on 02......polls are excellent conversation pieces and not much more......I admit I look at them but the regional rankings hold the importance......If you want to get worked up get worked up over them although both Pat and 413 make excellent points......Pound the Rock!!!!!.......

I'm not even sure of the importance of the early Regional Rankings. Last year the First Regional Rankings in the West, released on October 28, 2009 looked like this :

West Region
1.   Linfield   6-0   7-0
2.   Central   8-0   8-0
3.   St. John's 8-0   8-0
4.   UW-Whitewater   5-0   7-0
5.   Monmouth   8-0   8-0
6.   St. Thomas 6-1   6-1
7.   Coe 6-1   6-1
8.   Occidental   5-1   5-1
9.   Cal Lutheran   5-1   5-1
10.   UW-Stevens Point   4-1   5-2

Linfield, Central, and St. John's all won out before the playoffs subsequent to this ranking, yet UW-W ended up being a top seed. Although, if I remember right, the brackets don't bear a directional title (ie, no east, west, north, or south).

exactly, their offensive philosophy plays right into the hands of UWW's defensive strengths. They've shown little success passing, while attempting to force the run. So back-to-back shut-outs is very possible

I agree. Seems like it would make sense to give Booker another week unless the medical staff clears him without further risk to the shoulder and the pain has been reduced to minimal.  A light dose of LC would also make sense unless he is 100%.  AA and Pirtle would get the job done, I'm sure.  Also, why do I have this sneaky suspicion LL will opt to have Blanchard throw the ball more in this one?  It seems like he likes to pick a game to continue to develop and refine the passing game. UW-RF has given up more TD passes than anyone in the WIAC. Big day for Blanchard?  ;)
