You see this on other boards. MTU dominates the OAC board; Wheaton has dominated the CCIW board (although North Central supporters are finding their voice). It shouldn't be surprising that UWW dominates this board, and I'd say that their fans are enjoying it.

I understand they are just words and I understand WW fans are on a roll and yes, enjoy it!  But I gotta say that Prime has a point.  It is certainly OK to dissect a teams performance, stats, whatever.  But at times I see posts saying "Where are all the other fans?".  Could this be a reason?  Yes, some teams are struggling.  But they deserve some respect, as do all the teams.   If this was a forum just for WW, I wouldn't think twice about it, enter at your own risk, but this is a WIAC forum.
I don't think anyone means harm, but I do think at times things could be worded a little better.   Sometimes I think the WW people start talking to each other and forget other team fans are tuning in.

IMHO.....for what it's worth....I'll never get an karma on this board!

... helpless team - that might weigh on the mind of the coaching staff as the game progresses.  This game has the potential to get Dakota State ugly, but I see Whitewater taking steps in attempt to avoid doing that to another WIAC school if at all possible. ...
This is my first full football season of reading this site regularly. Before now, I checked it every once and a while.

On that note, I do find it interesting the choice of words that are used by what seems to be primarily WW fans. One thing that I would like to remind those people of is that it isn't a matter of if, it is a matter of time before the tide will change and there will be another team on top in the conference and the division. I just wonder how those people will react to those comments if they were made about the WW team?  :-\

you're abosuletly correct...sooner or later another WIAC team will overtake UWW as the conference favorite. Just like La Crosse in the early 90s compared to now. I think us UWW fans are just enjoying the present rather than worrying about what's coming in the future.

Besides I'm sure those "choice of words" were already spoken about UWW in the past...they weren't exactly much of a threat when I was there.

We are just enjoying the ride while it lasts.  :)

I failed to mention that I will be at the game on Saturday. Who is traveling to River Falls from the WW clan on here? We could meet at a neutral part of the field, say the south end by the buildings. ;)

I'll say it again, River Falls should be a cupcake for UWW. RF's strength (rushing) plays in to UWW's strength and RF's defense in general is really bad.

The last three games on the schedule UWSP, UWO and UWLC will not be pushovers, just like the other games weren't either.

So what you are saying, BoBo, is your opinion of the UWEC defense is based on one game; I didn't realize one game defines a season, but... I merely put out two other games where that inept D played pretty well...

But, as you say, those were merely a case of the SJU and UWSP offenses being inept, while the Blugold D deserves no credit....

But in the case of the UWW game, using your train of thought and logic, if it's the Blugold D that was inept, therefore, the WW offense deserves no credit for putting up 45 points, because, afterall, they were playing against the inept Blugold D out there...  ;)

[warning: lengthy - sorry in advance]

One last time bulk19, please read carefully this time. I expressed an opinion about 1 game I watched, last saturday at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I saw two teams that were about as polar opposites, on that day, as two could be. I didn't compare it to any other game, at any other time. Just one game on the 16th of Oct 2010. Nothing else, nothing less. If that is too difficult to understand I apologize, as that's the easiest way I can describe it. You keep wanting to add other games into the mix & as I said, I can only hypothesize about those since I didn't see them. These are some of the things I posted:
QuoteWhat did we learn today?
1.  Eau Claire is a kitty cat in wolves clothes - Warhawks made them look soft in every facet of the game.

Quote[IMHO] They look totally under-prepared and didn't show much effort. I don't know what else to say, it was one of the most lopsided WIAC conference games I have seen in a long time.

QuoteMuch of the problems the 'golds encountered was inflicted by a completely dominating 'hawk presence. Just that EC didn't do anything to live up to their advanced billing.

QuoteWhat I said in my initial comment and every subsequent comment is that it was my opinion that the EC defense that I watched last saturday vs UWW was the softest I have seen in the WIAC in a long time.

I wasn't the only one, bulk19 (a couple examples):

Really impressive. I don't mean to demean any team or program by saying this, but it's almost scary when we can treat UW-EC like Lakeland!

Unfortunately, at this point in time and for the last 5 years, the defining moment for any WIAC school isn't how they perform against (with all due respect) SJU, Central, Dubuque, Missouri S & T, or UW-SP, it's what they do against Whitewater or any other school in bp's level 1. That's not me in purple-tinted shades, but a fact. D-III is a business & competitive; the name of the game is what have you done for me lately. Obviously, I understand you are very content with the Blugolds past achievements this year, rather than the status quo. That's fine with me; whatever turns your crank. I wouldn't be, but to each his own.  ;)

It's time to take off your Blugold-tinted shades, bulk19, and post an objective opinion of what you saw last Saturday at Carson Park. I've noticed you have failed to do so in all your posts (maybe intentionally  :-\ ) I'm sure you were there. I encougage you to compare the UWW game last saturday to your favorite early season game(s): this year, last year, or any year - if you are so inclined!!  ;)  Otherwise, it's time to move on - I'm getting bored!!  :o

BoBo -
I must be mistaken; you weren't the one who compared the UWEC defense from Saturday to the one who played against North Central. And it wasn't you who gave us the statistical analysis of that game. So I guess you didn't add that game to the mix, prior to my response...

You made the first comparison, not me. I merely thereafter provided objective opinions and stats from two games when the Blugolds D performed well, holding two high-powered offenses below their averages, and in doing so, in both cases during extended play, when teams have an opportunity to basically start drives from the red zone...

As for an objective opinion about the UWW/UWEC game, you couldn't be more wrong on your assumptions. Sorry to crack your purple-tinted shades. You were sure I was there; I wasn't at the game, so your snide comments made my day.  ;D

I have, however, and will continue to provide objective reports from the UWL* games I actually see, like I have so far this season...

As for WW being the defining moment for a team, sorry, but when you get a win against a rival such as UWSP, who was projected to finish higher in the conference this year, and against SJU, which has been a measuring stick far longer than UWW,  you build on them when you do it...

* still leads the conference in national championships in football, last time I, in my Blue- and-Gold shades, looked in the trophy case in Mitchell Hall...

They are fine with it. There doesn't seem to be a lot of it there. They have a club that has a tent near the stadium in which they grill things for the booster club members.

I would go for it and enjoy yourself.

While I agree you can take positives away from the accomplishments earlier in the season, the reality is that programs in the WIAC will always measure themselves based upon the Conference Champion the prior season at minimum, and since UWW has been in that position for a while and has played in the last 5 Stagg Bowls winning 2 out of the last 3, I would be shocked if a program in this conference would not measure their progress against UWW.

BW,
Cougars won again last night 27-6.  Defense only gave up 2 field goals.  Winning the last two games is such a great way to end the season and gives the program something to build on.  We are smiling around our house this morning.   ;D

Whoo Hooo, congrats.  With a 3-6 record Craig actually tripled their 2009 season record of 1-8.  :D

Yup, I know the staff would  be happier with a few more wins but turning around a program takes time.  They are clearly going in the right direction though.
