Look for a huge effort by the Devils Saturday.

No way this squad loses 3 in a row.

War on 94. At home. No way.

bulk - You're hilarious. You seem to have a split personality on your last post. Started off with a little George McFly and included a lot of Jethro Tull!!  ;)   ::)

But, Warhawk Dad is absolutely correct with this:

While I agree you can take positives away from the accomplishments earlier in the season, the reality is that programs in the WIAC will always measure themselves based upon the Conference Champion the prior season at minimum, and since UWW has been in that position for a while and has played in the last 5 Stagg Bowls winning 2 out of the last 3, I would be shocked if a program in this conference would not measure their progress against UWW.

Right on 02......polls are excellent conversation pieces and not much more......I admit I look at them but the regional rankings hold the importance......If you want to get worked up get worked up over them although both Pat and 413 make excellent points......Pound the Rock!!!!!.......

I'm not even sure of the importance of the early Regional Rankings. Last year the First Regional Rankings in the West, released on October 28, 2009 looked like this :

West Region
1.   Linfield   6-0   7-0
2.   Central   8-0   8-0
3.   St. John's 8-0   8-0
4.   UW-Whitewater   5-0   7-0
5.   Monmouth   8-0   8-0
6.   St. Thomas 6-1   6-1
7.   Coe 6-1   6-1
8.   Occidental   5-1   5-1
9.   Cal Lutheran   5-1   5-1
10.   UW-Stevens Point   4-1   5-2

Linfield, Central, and St. John's all won out before the playoffs subsequent to this ranking, yet UW-W ended up being a top seed. Although, if I remember right, the brackets don't bear a directional title (ie, no east, west, north, or south).

These rankings are based purely off a calculation I believe, with the strength of schedule being a factor. At this point last year Whitewater was still waiting to play UWSP, UWO and UWL...once they beat them that boosted their SOS, basically pushing them up to number 1 in the region. Plus their SOS took a huge hit early on by playing two NAIA teams and Puget Sound. That's b/c UPS sucks (and they weren't a "regional game") and NAIA teams can't be calculated towards a teams SOS.

So you're correct by saying that "early regional rankings" don't matter much...but the final regional rankings are really close to what teams will be seeded in their region in the playoffs. with the exception of teams being moved to a different region (like UMU).

I just noticed this post, and the subsequent comment that perhaps the reason Linfield was ranked #1 was because our coach was on the committee.

The reason Linfield was ranked #1 was because of our record and the brutal schedule last year. We had our first game at home against Hardin-Simmons, then  went on the road for the four games against some quality opponents, from California to Southern Oregon to Spokane, Washington.

Just a little FYI.

Once again, however, you guys took it to us in the playoffs.
Two words:  THE STREAK

roocru

To all WIAC fans,

I just returned from my trip 15 day trip to Wisconsin and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed my visit.  After not ever getting to take my wife on a fall color trip due to my years as a coach and AD, we really enjoyed your state.  We apparently missed peak color by about a week but is was still beautiful and a lot prettier that our 3-4 day autumns in Texas.  :D  We traveled from Milwaukee to the Eagle River area to Dorr County and after I put her on the plane in Green Bay(she still works while I am retired) I went to Eau Claire and then La Crosse before beginning my way back home.

Voice, you asked about my relatives in La Crosse.  I am proud to say, I actually found the graves for my great-grandfather and great-grandmother. Imagine my surprise when I discovered they were buried in Oak Grove Cemetery right across the street from some UW-La Crosse buildings!  I was also able to find some other pertinent info on my family at the impressive La Crosse Public Library.

Stephens Point fans, I had dinner one night at the Hilltop Pub right down the street from your campus.

UWEC fans, I enjoyed watching the game in Carson Park.  I spent some time on both sides.  Your band was impressive and the setting for the stadium was an excellent one.  While I did not meet any D3 posters, I spent some time talking to the mother of a Whitewater offensive lineman who is sitting out the rest of this year due to an injury and a nice UWEC fan named Trevor who is a lurker on the boards.

I am already trying to make plans for another trip next year which will be more devoted to sampling the fishing.  That big musky I caught got into my blood!  ;D  If so, I hope to visit with more of you guys next year.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

So glad you had such a wonderful time, roocru.  Couldn't have picked a better time to visit.  Fall is the most beautiful season in the Midwest, IMHO, but we pay a dear price for it in January.  :D The La Crosse area is particularly beautiful.  Sounds like the south east corner of the state is a the only portion you missed.  Next year consider traveling via Chicago O'Hare, and enjoy a few days in the greatest city in the country before you make your way to God's Country.  I absolutely love having the opportunity in my life to live the best of both worlds. Then we can meet and I'll buy you a cold one....... or two.  :)

...And you can stop in and visit, and play a little golf in the Lake Geneva area too, cru.

Let me stick up for my "pal" BoBo in his back and forth with bulk.

I am a Washington Capital fan, and if I only watched the last two games with the Bruins, I would come away with a far different impression than what I actually have from watching around 75 of their games. Give it up. I don't really think you disagree. You're arguing a point which BoBo never tried to make. So much for my Peacekeeping efforts.

Retagent, im sure on Fri Nov 5, 2010 your Caps will seek revenge against the Bruins.  Not to worry when you have Ovechkin on your team.  I too am a big NHL fan and I'll pull for you guys over Boston any day.  Hope you guys give Chara a little chin music.  ;D

Nice shoot-out win.  I passed on some (SRO) tickets because it was a late 8pm start.  I guess the Canadian (TSN) didnt want to start the game until then.  Tonight we are down in St. Louis!  Its been all Hossa this year.  http://www.nhl.com/ice/statshome.htm

Alright, Ill stop the hockey talk and focus on the WIAC from here on out.  hah

Wow guys, I just found these discussion boards. This is pretty cool. I played guard for the Warhawks from 1991 to 1995 and started a few years alongside Dave Lang, our RT that made All-American.... Running backs were Travis Talton and Spenser Johnson.

It is really nice to see the alma mater doing so well. Seeing them in person is strange. They are no bigger or faster than what we had, yet they play better. I had always heard about the Mt. Union beast from the East, now actually beating them is truly an accomplishment.

Nice to meet ya guys!
