Ypsi, only in the sense that the NCAA could get weaker team in the "west" with UWW in the North. I would suggest that the "west" could be: #1 UWW, #2 UST, #3 Wartburg, #4 Linfield, #5 Cal Lu, #6 MWC Champ, #7 Coe and #8 Bethel. Perhaps a more competitive game for UWW this year? If UWW goes "north" then the NCAA could place the NATHC champ in the "west."

Keeping with the theme of what happens with Region rankings and potentially teams getting moved out of regions and a little dialogue on the CCIW Board about North Central.  I cut and pasted information from the NCAA stats about both North Central and UWW.   The North Central stats are on the left and UWW on the right.

That's all and good, but UWW still has ways to go before this is relevant WD. Whitewater still has to take care of business these next three games. Not too many people are looking past this game, especially after what happened two years ago for homecoming against UWSP.

And trust me, IF UWW does end up running the table in the regular season we won't have to worry about what's going on down in Naperville (or any other part of the country), UWW will get the number one seed.

We'll cross that bridge when we come to it  ;) But I like your enthusiasm  8-)

Your absolutley right.  One game at a time improving each game!

WarhawkDad,

Those stats seem totally irrelevant to me.  As 02 Warhawk pointed out, UWW (if they TCB) will be a #1 seed - but they are West, NCC is North.  IF UMU goes 'East', the relevant stats are NCC vs. the Tommies.  UWW can be #1 either 'West' or 'North'; would the region 'bereft' (or 'freed of' ;D) UWW be better served by NCC or St. Thomas?

Personally, I say the NCC/Wheaton winner is a perfectly legitimate 'North' #1 (assuming UMU goes 'East').

I agree with you as well Mr. Ypsi, but my reason for doing the comparison was more the CCIW vs WIAC discussion that has been going on.   Since the NCAA has found reason to move UMU 'East" in the past, it would not surprise me if they did it again and then the balance of your post is right on the mark.

I noticed something reading the recap on RF's website. All the players listed are from MN, maybe that's why they don't have the best talent? The people from Minnesota mostly have to have been picked over by all the DI, II and III schools their first before deciding to come to RF.

This is the quote.  A lot more talent in Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area than all of Wisconsin.  They can fuel all of their D2 programs, Iowa and Wisconsin as Gophers do not get the best ones, and the top D3's in the state, St. John's, St. Thomas, and rest of MIAC.  One sample score from a HS border battle 42-3 Minnetonka over Stevens Point.  This is a clear example of how two of the largest schools in both states match up against each other with talent.

The sentence in question has a question mark after it inviting discussion.  It is not a statement.  From my perspective, talent comes from everywhere, but the ability to attract depth of talent may be based upon the success of the program and proximity to areas of density of talent.  UWW attracts from the Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago area where you have a huge number of high schools.  The success of the program then helps promote the program.

It's impossible to compare two entire states based on one score.  And furthermore, there's a lot more that goes into the quality of an athletic program other than just enrollment.  The top program division in Illinois this season is 7a (enrollment threshhold: 2023-2603), not 8a (largest schools) and the best school (Wheaton Warrenville South - 2321) is dwarved by some of the 8a schools.  There are 77 schools with a greater enrollment.

Just because SPASH is one of the schools with the highest enrollment doesn't mean they are indicitive of the level of competition from the entire state.

On the game I mentioned above from the border battle between Wisconsin and Minnesota.  It looks even worse for Wisconsin now that Minnetonka has gone 4-4 on the season.  SPASH is 6-3.  These are two public schools in the largest division that produce some blue chip players and other college level talent year in and out.  Tiny sample size, but example at talent level comarison for that sample size.

I'm looking through this week's WIAC media guide, and I was surprised to see UWSP is second in the conference in rushing this year. Everyone is talking about the passing game and Jenkins, looks like their rushing game has flown under the radar a bit.  In fact, their passing offense is only 6th in the WIAC (13 TDs/10 INTs). UWSP is -4 on tournovers for the year, hopefully UWW can exploit that in Saturday's game.

As for UWSP defense, they are one of the best in the WIAC statistically. Looks like they are able to get to the QB, as they have 23 sacks thus far (2 more than UWW on the season). Brandon Bruger is leading the WIAC in sacks with 1.07/G (7.5 total). also, three of the top 4 players that lead the WIAC in tackles for loss are from UWSP.

Needless to say, this will be the toughest test not only for UWW's DBs slowing down Jenkins, but also our offenisve line protecting blanchard and creating running lanes for Coppage and company.

Very much looking forward to Saturday, I'm anxious to see how Whitewater does in a close game.

Interesting to see how much Coppage and Booker play.  Anderson did a great job Saturday, but somehow I believe that Coppage will start.  Other than Sam Overton, I did not see any other Warhawks have significant injuries.   What about Stevens Point, any injuries in their game this past weekend?

Watching the FSN replay last week against Stout, RB Keith Ingram (from Milw Riverside) pulled up with a hammy late in the game.  Don't know if that's a lingering issue, but I remember that one because I officiated a game he was in 2 yrs ago - he ran for 200+ in a blow-out.  Milw Washington just couldn't tackle him.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I would think Coppage and Booker will be back in action this weekend. I have a feeling they could of played last weekend, but AA did just fine carrying the load. Hopefully they will get back to their normal rotation at RB, Saturday.

Overton was on crutches on the sidelines during the second half of the UWRF game, which wasn't a good sign....we could use him against Jenkins for sure.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.
