Just for information purposes, you probably can't glean much from the fact that SJU/UST played a close game this year. Even in St John's Championship year, 2003, their game against St Thomas went down to the wire with the Johnnies pulling it out, late. It's a heated rivalry that doesn't help in evaluating either teams relative strength - as a rule.

bobo...anything to report on the north/south shots fired?...are you safe?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Bleedpurple, BoBO, 02 Warhawk, 413, BadgerWarhawk,

This is response to sflzman's question on the MIAA board, how do you see it?

Does anyone see any chance of there being a non-UWW/Mount U Championship game?

sflzman.

It will depend on the brackets to a degree, but let's see who "could maybe" beat either one them:

UWW:1. Linfield- played UWW tough last year

2. St. Thomas- has had a good year against some tough teams

3. Mary Hardin Baylor- pretty good year, but has struggled against UWW

Mount Union:
1. North Central- depends where they play, but NC is having a good year
but has to beat Wheaton first

2. Wesley- good year so far, but their competition in the second half of the
season is much weaker, lost to the Raiders in the semi's 24-7 in '09 but
Mount lost their QB in the first quarter of the game

3. Ohio Northern- a rematch for Coach Paul against his Alma mater is possible
ONU has had a good year, except for the 27-0 loss to the
                             Raiders.

So what are the odds that UWW and Mount Union meet for the 6th straight time, it could  be 3:1 at this point, IMHO  :)

Raider 68,

I would put the odds of a UW-W/Mount Union Stagg Bowl at 50/50. However, I don't take anything for granted in the playoffs.  The teams I am most concerned about are Linfield and St. Thomas.  Truthfully, I can't see anyone on Mount's side of the bracket that would pose much of a threat to them at all.  I don't think NCC could either score much against the Raiders or stop them too well.

That's funny.  I was thinking the same thing about no one in the west giving UWW a game and worrying about Mount having to face NCC or Wheaton or ONU again, or.........
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I think this will be my first tailgating experience for the 2010 UWW football season. My roomates parents and grandpa are coming out so we'll probably be tailgating god knows where in the stadium parking lot. I'm kinda hoping that it's warmer than it has been the last couple of days.

But in closing: Go UWW, show the Pointers who's boss!

Point needs to leave feeling WAY DIFFERENTLY than they felt the last time their bus left Whitewater!!

Great finish in Stout.

LAX has a touchdown lead in the 4th.
Stout comes back to take a 7-point lead.

LAX marches on a long drive late and converts at least one fourth down along the way (sorry, memory escapes me) to score the TD. Larry Terry decides to go for two with under :30 left and converts.

Once again was too late to the party, to party.

Good game though. You've heard of games that were closer than the score would indicate. This one wasn't as close as the score.

Point had no running game. Did they get over 80 yards? ($5 on one run) They also had three plays. The TD to Aker, The long run that set up the second TD, and the second TD pass. UWW seemed as if they were in cruise control. Only question is why did they run Coppage so much. You would think with the plethora of good running backs, they would spell him more.

Another note is that the punting was exceptional. I don't think I've seen many games with as good a punting display by both teams. I can see why Jenkins might get a look.

Great day at the Perk......weather perfect, tailgate was excellent even though I forgot some essentials, great to see old friends, and a genuine example of how to Pound the Rock.....Oline and Coppage were awesome. Thanx to  Warhawk Chuck once again........

I totally agree.  A terrific day at the Perk yesterday.  Another great turnout and enjoyed catching up with some old friends.  Forgot some essentials, Sak?  You are out of practice!

Congrats to the Warhawks and their staff.  I was going to comment as well, retagent, on the Pointers punting game.  Jenkins was stellar.  Good job by the Pointers yesterday who lived up to the expectation of being the Hawks toughest opponent to date.  Just a reminder that you have to stay focused on every game, one at a time.

BoBo, enough of, what seems to be, a self-imposed hibernation.  Come on back.  Considering where you live, it won't take much for me to start worrying.   :-*

I am way late on this, 68 but since you asked and with the benefit of yesterday's outcome which the others didn't have when they answered this, I will give my 2 cents.
UWW:
1. Linfield, the team that scares me the most! Great respect here.
2. St. Thomas   MIAC champ always considered a big threat
3. MHB  Doesn't scare me as much this year as in the past because, they just don't seem to bring a
balanced offense to the Perk and no one goes really deep in the play-offs without one, IMO.

UMU
1.  NCC  Seems to be having a stellar year with an improved defense and if they can get by
Wheaton next week, will be a threat to anyone.
2.   Wesley, ya......not impressed! ;)   Especially after barely beating Salisbury yesterday.  Who,
by  the way, now only has 2 close losses to highly ranked teams,  Wesley by 4 points and
     Hampden-Sydney by 4.  Hmmm..........
3.  Ohio Northern    Could be a legit threat in a rematch.
4.  The East Region     Cakewalk for the Raiders again!

Forgot to mention before, La Crosse wins yesterday over the Blue Devils after losing at home to Platteville for the first time since 1980??  Looks like it's still the Wacky WIAC!  :)
