Again - "would of"..? Grammar is not the strong pont here, but it's "would have."

Seriously, looking at Beaver and Coppage - how many games were played by each. I know Beaver was out with injury for a few games one year. Someone with the time and inclination could look at the rushing yardage of each up to the number of games Coppage has played so far. I would find it interesting. My guess is that Beaver is up in Yards/Game.

Did Beaver have a group of running backs that had a similar number of carries as Anderson last year and Anderson and Stanley this year?  Someone with a longer history would have to provide that answer.

Justin Beaver:
2004...8 games, 50 carries for 352 yards, 42.5/game.
Colin Burns was the feature runner this year with 282 carries for 1490 yards in 10 games.
2005...14 games, 428 carries for 2994 yards, 172.9/game
Justin Jacobs was second in carries with 56 for 232 yards and Andy Lange had 62 carries for 491 yards
2006...10 games, 266 carries for 1430 yards, 136.9/game.
Derek Underwood was next with 100 carries for 456 yards and Brady Pitz had 76 carries for 523 yards
2007...15 games, 444 carries for 2552 yards, 163.7/game
Danny Jones was next with 158 carries for 621 yards

Coppage...
2008 13 games, 298 carries for 1513 yards, 112.4/game
Antwan Anderson was next with 185 carries for 1238 yards in 14 games
2009  15 games, 310 carries for 2143 yards, 140.5/game
Antwan Anderson 120 carries for 616 yards in 13 games.  CJ Miller 73 carries for 447 yards in 14 games.
2010 to date  8 games 160 carries for 1034 yards, 125.9/game
Antwan Anderson 120 carries for 737 yards in 13 games.  Booker Stanley 68 carries for 558 yards in 7 games.

So far Anderson is getting more carries per game than any other player during Beaver's run.  Also in two of the four years Beaver played the second leading rusher was a quarterback.

Beaver was a hell of running back and often carried the WARHAWKS on his shoulders.  He was a special player.  Coppage is too.  We've had a lot of really good running backs at WHITEWATER in the fifty years I've followed the program.  Both of these guys rank right up there with the rest of them.

I think Coppage has an edge on Beaver when it comes to yards per carry.

What is ridiculous is that Coppage owned the WIAC Rushing TD record (56) only after two years of work!!!  That's five more than the previous record holder. Coppage currently has 14 this season...bringing his career total to 70.

If you're wondering what the DIII record is....it's 91 by R.J. Bowers (Grove City, 97-00)

BoBo

With another long playoff run this year, I can easily see Coppage close to, if not totaling 80 career TD's before the end of this year. That would make breaking that 91 career TD record, nearly a cinch by the middle of next year. That's called smashing a record!!  ;)

So, what you're saying, Manuel, is that for all his ridiculous numbers, Coppage is only slightly more than 1/2 way to the record. Who is this Nate Kmic fella anyway?  ;)

BTW, what was his career rushing total? Does Coppage have any shot at that? Or are all of Kmic's major records relatively safe from being approached by anyone in the Milky Way Galaxy?

Guess I qualify to answer this.  BW has done his usual fantastic job of looking at the statistical comparisons so I will just rely on a feeble middle aged memory and talk about the intangibles.  Justin spent most of the 2004 season with a severely torn hamstring, as the 50 total carries demonstrates.  He missed 5 games, I believe, in 06 because of a broken collar bone, several of them play-off games. But in every game he played in he was, by far, the workhorse, only relinquishing his spot when game was in hand.  Justin was a terrific mix of the, "thunder and lightening," we see in today's RB by committee.  Quick and speedy to the hole, dangerous in space and making the defense pay when they tried to bring him down.  Coppage is a huge talent, no doubt so don't get me wrong but forgetting the empirical data, Beaver was the best all around RB I have seen at UWW, IMHO.  BUT, I admit to a huge bias for the players who came to UWW when it was just a good WIAC team, the ones who built the foundation of immense success we are all enjoying today.  It is one thing to take over the keys to a Ferrari and all you have to do is keep it between the ditches.  Quite another to be the one who pulled it from the junk pile, towed it into the garage and put in the time and effort to turn it into something special!     :)

Kmic holds the NCAA rushing record (any division) with 8074 yards....I don't think coppage will touch that.  I found the record book that's up to date

Raider 68

Justin Beaver was the "man" at UWW for those growth into a Natiional power years. IMHO, He was more than just a great back, he was the leader. Not sure if Coppage has the same leadership skills, but the UWW faithful can comment! :)

As far as the leader this year...i'm not sure. Lane Olson (LB) comes to mind. He seems very vocal and is the anchor of the team's defense.

Neither Beaver, Coppage or Kmic would get the kind of yards they've racked up without a lot of help up front.  The factor that has made the WARHAWK and Raider running attacks so productive is the offensive line.  Both programs have been blessed with good ones.  I know it goes without saying but I wanted to say it anyway.  :D

BoBo,

Hope your trip to the States went well! The game between Air Force- Army game not so much, but being there for the atmosphere and thrill of it all is the most important! :)

Thanks Raider...just got back last night (Tues AM here now).  Trip itself was really fast; I think I spent more time in the air than I did on the ground. Thankfully, it was a non-stop and didn't have to mess with layovers...and everything was right on schedule.
As for the game itself - nothing beats Academy football atmosphere. AFA 42 West Point 22 final btw. Weather was great for November, too. The game was pretty close for 3 quarters (21-16 until :44 left in 3rd). AFA completed only 3 passes, but two of them went for long TD's. Army couldn't finish and had to settle for 3 FG's. Turnovers cost them 2 more TD's. I'm sure the Army guys feel they let this one get away because they gave a good effort, but a lack of consistency at crucial moments cost them a chance at winning. They have vastly improved over a couple years ago. AFA has always been tough for them. It was still well worth the trip. On a side note, did you happen to check out the uni's? They didn't wear throwbacks, but Army came out with all black helments, gray jersey and pants w/ a black stripe - not as cool as the camo's, but nice. AFA scrapped the sky blue and gray for a red, white and blue look. When I first saw AFA, I thought they were wearing helmets like Michigan, but then realized they were different. They were supposed to look like the helmet of a Thunderbird pilot. Red in the front/white in the back w/ 4 blue stars across the top. HERE'S a look at them. What do you think? I had my hands on a pair of Army/ND tickets on 20 Nov to be played at Yankee Stadium, but decided to pass. My wife talked me out of it. Deep down, it would still be a hoot to go, I think!!  ;)

I got me a copy of the UWW/Oshkosh game recorded from the UW-O stream. Someone paid $8 for it, but the quality is way below acceptable. How can they can actually charge $8 for something so poor? Did anybody else pay to watch it? What did your picture look like? Congrats to the Warhawks for a 6 pack of championships!! A big win over UW-L will make it totally satisfying.

I paid to watch it and the quality was fine on the screen as long as I did not expand the size too much.

100% agree. the o-line the hawks have this year is something special...BW, you can suit-up and get 100 yards easy... :D
