Franklin kinda played like Linfield did last year, though they didn't have the players to pull it off to the extent Linfield did. Where were the refs from? They made a lot of calls against us but didn't return the favor with a facemask, holding, and PI non-called.

Looking toward next week now we have Trine, who got up big and then had to hold off a bad DePauw team (which is in my opinon of course). I think we'll have another result like today, and if we can get the defense to play better I think we should be lights out.

Great job by Lee Brekke. Showed a lot of poise in the pocket. Can't remember a backup Warhawk QB doing such a good job in recent history.

Franklin definitely came out to start the game with more intensity than the Hawks.

I'm really glad that's over.  I hope all the Stagg talk stops from this point forward.

I see where you're coming from, but the game's outcomes aren't determined on this board. Lance has his kids focused on each opponent, one game at a time. That i can guarantee.

It doesn't matter what gets posted here...it's not going to change the outcome of the games. What we focus on doesn't matter....that's the beauty of message boards.  :)

Blanchard has a dislocated thumb from what I heard. not sure when it happened, but he was dressed with helmet on and everything throughout the game. Brekke played great. UWW tried to force feed the run, but Franklin did a great job of clogging up the middle. it seemed like the coaching staff didn't want to ask too much of brekke early on, so a lot of low risk pass plays were ran. but then as he got more comfortable he was able to spread the ball around in the second half.

The DB's definitely got tested today for the first time, Franklin sprayed the ball all over the field in the first half. Thank goodness for some dropped passes by the Griz, or else the first half would of been even worse for the hawks. I was impressed on the number of Franklin fans in attendance, they filled up the majority of the visitor's side.

the important thing is the warhawks survived and were able to advance...that's what matters. now the TEAM can focus on Trine.

Blanchard hurt his thumb against La Crosse but continued to play in that game.  He also practiced some this week. Brekke throws a nice ball but isn't the running threat that Blanchard is.

Reminds me a little of Justin Jacobs. Amazing pocket passer who only ran when he had to, maybe he could grow into that role. Though I think we've been spoiled with having good passying running QBs for the last 4 years (which includes this year). He got good game experience for the future when Blanchard is gone.

Lane Olsen is a player and a half. Whenever there's a play to be made, he makes it. Good job man!

Blanchard warmed up today and threw the ball fine.  Brekke did an outstanding job.  Defense stepped up when they needed to do so.  Forced turnovers, got sacks.  Remember Franklin was the number 1 scoring offense in DIII.   Their quarterback had the best-quickest release we have seen all year.  The Warhawks maybe took Franklin too lightly, but I do not think that will happen next week.

The late Paul the Octopus went 16-0 on my 1st round projections on www.uwfootball.blogspot.com.  Includes a 52-14 projection on the uww game.  ;D

[He showed poise in the pocket. His passes were crisp and accurate. He didn't throw any up for grabs. This was the first game he started (I think) and he has not been under that pressure before. He never seemed to get rattled, even when the start was not that good, and the running game was not doing well enough to rely on. The defense was not playing well, so he knew he had to put points on the board, and he did. Other than that. Nothing.

Absolutely agree with everything you said above.  I think he had an AMAZING GAME considering the circumstances.  I just think saying that there might be a battle for the starting quarterback position next year based off this one performance is a little much considering the AMANZING ENTIRE SEASON Blanchard had.  It would be different if Blanchard showed some holes in his game, but the guy was 163 for 225 for 2132 yards...third in the nation in efficiency.....threw 23 touchdowns and only 1 interception all season.

Again, nothing agains the qback performance today.....it was phenomenal.

Not the ideal first half, but as was just said, winning 52-21 on a day when you came out very slow isn't all that bad.

You won the game by a wide margin on an off day. You get the W AND the coaching staff gets to legitimately hound the players all week about their effort and not looking past anyone. Really kinda ideal...provided of course your QB is able to bounce back.

Great point!

I know, but it still always bothers me.  I'm talking on any level....D1, NFL, NBA, MLB.  I'm always the one who never wants to think about tomorrow because I want to make sure we get past today.  You probably have much better insight on how Lance prepares the team, so even your words make me feel a little better.

Just hearing him speak at the QB Club meetings, he doesn't take anyone lightly. and I'm sure he preaches that throughout the week to his team in practice. With that being said, I think Trine and Franklin seem like very similar teams. So hopefully this was great experience for next weekend.

The way Franklin played today, how many teams in the country do YOU think beats them by 31 with their backup quarterback?

I was having this same thought. Franklin isn't a pushover -- they're a Top 25 team. I don't think Franklin played particularly over its head, but they definitely matched up favorably against spots where uWW struggles.

Wow....40,000+ at a high school football playoff game down here in Dallas this evening.  That's crazy.

Sorry....just felt like telling someone and my wife really doesn't care.   :)
