The game gear is washed and ready, I think I'll wear it around the house for a while just to take the anticipation edge off.

413- glad you posted your second comment on football 101.  You're absolutely correct that a good/great passing game is essential for going all the way.  As you pointed out in post #2, football 201 teaches that you can use a strong offensive run game as great defense- Trine can't score when UWW has the ball.  And the run game didn't just get strong in the 4th.  I looked at the play by play stats, there was NO point in the game that the run game wasn't clicking on all cylinders.  I still think the staff wanted to get Brekke more total game experience.  They saw the same effective run game as we did, but they have bigger plans in mind.

BP,
St.Norberts/Benedictine??? How could you mess that up?  One is a cupcake .............and well, one is a cupcake with sprinkles on top!   ;) You need to do what I do. Check your facts first...........and then still get it wrong sometimes.......  :-*

LMAO!!! CLASSIC!!! +K

I forgot the sprinkles!  >:(

From Voice's blog....

- If you haven't heard, it looks like Matt Blanchard will be back in the line-up for the North Central game. On last night's KOOL 106.5 UW-Whitewater Coaches Show, Coach Leipold to Gary Douglas and me "Right now its looking like Matt (Blanchard) will start. He (Blanchard) has made steady progress in his rehab process," Leipold said. "His work during this week's practice will ultimately determine if he (Matt) will be back after missing the first two playoff games."

Some good news on a Tuesday morning.  Not that I would have been uncomfortable if Brekke continued in the starting role.

that is great news. as good as Brekke's been playing, I like blanchard's pocket awareness a little better, especially against NCC's agressive defense.

And I assume our all-american will be back at left guard this saturday, hopefully! Even though Warhawkdad's son stepped in and played great from what I heard.  :)

After interviewing Coach Leipold last night on the radio a couple of aspects must be considered.  Due to Matt's injury, consideration of the weather conditions will have a major impact on his availability of play on Saturday.  Gripping the ball securely is absolutely crucial. Just a thought.

I wish they didn't show Coppage's play, now NCC will prepare for the "break the tackle behind the line, cut outside, then inside, and run through tacklers play".

For what it's worth:
Some CCIW folks seem to find hope in the fact that Franklin, who gave UWW "trouble" was beat by middle of the road Carthage, who was later destroyed by NCC.
This was their first game of the season.  Of the 52 Franklin passes thrown, 24 came from Kyle Ray, the other 28 came from a different QB.  Kyle Ray was 17-24 with 2 TD's and 0 int's, the other QB was 15-28 with 1 TD and 2 interceptions.

Kyle threw 339 of the 410 Franklin passes for the season.

If only the transitive property worked in sports then we wouldn't have to bother playing the games. Well, I guess there would have to be a few games played just to get the whole process started  :)

Well, I've seen UWW play in rain, sleet and snow and it didn't seem to make a difference.  One play at a time, one drive at a time, one defensive play at a time is what we need.  Total concentration and everybody being clued in and doing their best.

I'll just repeat my post from the CCIW board:

"I just got off the phone with Dr. Solomen. She officially declared that neither team has ever played in common weather, so it was hard to decide, but weather edge is officially given to North Central based on strength of the weather played in by NCC's opponents. "  ;D

I submit for the record that Dr Solomon still does not know JACK about this or about appropriately seeding teams!    ;) :D ;D

I can't imagine that NCC will have the same wide running lanes against the Warhawks as they did against Ohio Northern

so should we be taking comfort in this then?

UWEC @ NCC  20-6 NCC win
UWW @ UWEC    45-0 UWW win

Using the logic from the CCIW and OAC Boards, then yes, we should!   :D ;D

For me, comfort comes from knowing the Hawks have "Been There, Done That".

I think back to all the playoff games the Dub has played over 5 years- and how I tried to get a feeling during game week how things would go- based on all sorts of data.  And then we get games like Wesley and UMHB (in TX) blowouts, or nailbiters like Lacrosse and Willamette- or Trine into late 3rd quarter.

Each opponent is unique in the way we match up with them, and it makes no difference whatsoever how they did against a previous opponent last week, last month or last year.

And Trine's rushing offense was ranked 18th while NCC is ranked 21st.  UWW held Trine to a net 98 yards of rushing offense.  Trine is ranked 34 in passing offense, 2nd in passing efficiency and NCC is ranked 109 in passing offense and 6th in passing efficiency.  So I believe a very strong argument can be made that Trine's offense is/was better than NCC and the the UWW defense matches up better against NCC than Trine.
