Congrats to the Warhawks. These two teams were very physical and fast. 3 second half turnovers by NCC is the whole story. 2 of those were simply great plays by the UWW defense (arguably all 3). The 1st INT the LB Long got his had on the pass to Fiedorowicz and knocked it up in the air to be picked by McCollum. The INT by Hibneer you will see maybe 1 or 2 times ever. Stanek is throwing a hitch route and Hibner gets his hand in the passing lane and pops it up to himself. The UWW DLine is big and impressive. I thought NCC Defense lived up to its billing. giving up 253 yds total and only 140 yds rushing on 40 attempts (3.5 yds per rush). Coppage had 29 carries for 117 yds (4.0 yds per carry, well below his 6.5 ypc avg). Very impressive for NCC to take the ball from their own 4 yd line in the 3rd quarter and drive the length of the field to get the FG and the lead. UWW gets the big turnover and converts and then NCC had to play catch up.

Overall stats favored NCC but UWW got what they needed. I would mark UWW as the favorite the rest of the way. 3 very different battles for them in the playoffs and they passed each time. They can beat you in many different ways.

Wesley gets to put their money where their mouth is this week. Good luck.

Great game to watch!

true, but NCC has only been giving up 1.99 yards per carry (62.08 per game) leading up to this game...so 140 yards was well ABOVE their avarage today.... ;)

What's your point?

Whitewater ran the ball successfully in the fourth quarter and dominated on the way to a 27-10 win  :)

Voice- the least you could do is get the score right. At least thered be 1 accurate part of your post. UWW won the game and deserved to. Saying it was dominant seems to feed your ego more than reality. More power to ya.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. This is amazing.

What a most pleasant surprise, CamCat.  With attribution, I posted to OAC board.  See you in Salem?

Anyone else notice the board where they kept flashing "I am" and then "Cardinals". People in the stands were making fun of the great english from the private college.  :P

Didn't notice that but I did notice once that their scoreboard was flashing "Defense" when the Warhawks were playing defense!

Probably other Private scool students. The public grads wouldn't have noticed. ;D

I don't know how anyone else views it, but confidence is a great equalizer. If you don't think you can beat someone, odds are you won't. If you do believe you can beat another team, your chances are much better. Maybe that explains the showings of UWW opponents. (See Tiger Woods circa 2010). I would guess that Wesley also has the mindset that they can win. Another motivating factor is the beatdowns they have endured fromm UWW recently. I'm sure they're looking for revenge. Will this, and their talent, be enough. We wil see next week. As I have said all year, I don't think it is unreasonable to think that UMU and/or UWW won't be in the Stagg this year. They can be beaten - but will they be?

My side saw that too, we got a laugh, they were asking us to stop them!

Could also help to keep UWW in their heads if they focus too much on those two beatdowns from before.  But I honestly expect another close game, but a bigger win than against North Central.  UWW's lines should have a good day, at least imo.

I think the NCC was a pretty emotional game for players and fans.  Hopefully the intensity carries through to the Wesley game for the Hawks.  We know Wesley is going to be hyped for this game. Hawks need to match it. Preferably, exceed it!

What's your point?

I guess i didn't see your point of "NCC defense living up to its billing". If that was the case NCC will be traveling to Delware...not UWW.

Doesn't matter that's now in the past...onto Wesley who I'm sure has been wanting a piece of use for a few years now.

Here is the Janesville Gazette's headline and first line in its UWW-NCC game story written by MIKE JOHNSON/SPECIAL TO THE GAZETTE.  Just might have been a misprint on the byline?

NAKURU, KENYA — The blowouts are certainly impressive.

The lofty rankings have definitely been validating.

And the current winning streak is historically good.

02- I know you realize there are 3 phases to the game. The NCC defense played as well as advertised but it was the warhawk defense that forced 3 2nd half turnovers resulting in short fields and an NCC loss. The cardinal defense was good enough to move on to Dover but their offense wasn't, which is what most were saying before the game so no surprise.

Comparing opponents' national ranks

                                    NCC                  Wesley
Rushing Defense             5th                    3rd
Passing Defense             40th                  15th
Defense                           3rd                     1st

Rushing Offense              21st                  33rd
Passing Offense              109th                19th
Offense                            29th                   8th

Could it be possible we're going to face an even tougher D next weekend? I have a tough time gaging how good Wesley actually is....their numbers look very good though.
