It would be way cooler with a real cannon and not that over grown firework  :D :D

Maybe now that we have RATZ we can get a howitzer. Of course, right now most of us are just hoping they learn how to march in step sometime in the near future
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Who's going to be the one that tells Wesley fans that we don't care about the cannon, so much as we do the final score at the end of the game?

And that we just like messing with them b/c they're the ones that ran to the NCAA following the 05 and 06 gorilla stompings?

KitchenSink

Let's chip in a few bucks and buy all of the players a towel to put in the front of their pants on Saturday that features a cannon going "BOOM".

Wouldn't that be fun?  8-)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Actually, Whitewater doesn't adhere to any of the NCAA playoff regulations with regards to "neutrality" when hosting home playoff games.  They still run their player profiles before the game, Pro-Whitwater graphics on the video board, play that damn Kernoff 4000 song after TDs, Fire the Cannon, etc, etc.    You are not suppose to do that at all when hosting a playoff game.

Linfield's administration neuters all of Linfield's "stuff" and it just makes it boring during the pregame, between scores, etc.  I'm flat out jealous and wish that we would just throw the regulations out the window too.  If you earn the right to host a home playoff game then you should be allowed to make your true home field environment.  Kudos to UWW for thumbing their noses at the NCAA with regards to those stupid rules that are designed to take the fun out of football.

We did not get away with as much as we maybe did last time Linfield was in Whitewater.   This year we only got to play the opening video from the Chancellor welcoming everyone to Perkins stadium and the band in stands would play the fight song as the team ran onto the field.

Now our announcer might have taken a few liberties when he would say. "Welcome to Perkins Stadium, Home of the defending 2009 DIII National Champions and owners of the longest current winning streak in NCAA football."

But thats about it.....well, maybe the large sign on the wall at the end of the field that says National Champions might be a little intimidating.  ;D :D 8-)

The canon thing grows on you, and eventually you find yourself wanting more and more.  I'm not ashamed to admit to being a canon junkie.

BTW- 413, Bleed, Warhawk Dad and Gang- it sure would have been nice to have another tailgate opportunity this weekend.  We did it right at NCC.

You got that right emma17.   Good food, cold drinks, good friends.  Met some nice NCC parents.   Not even the snow, cold or unplowed lot slowed us down!   ;D

Well, the important part was shoveled.  You're all welcome by the way!  LOL ;)
Yes, we did do it right, 17!  Had a great time!  Can't believe that we have to wait almost 9 months to do it all over again.   :P

Personally, I think the whole cannon tradition would be way more cool if you were really shooting it at something. Say for instance,

...a small blimp replica of seventiesraider *!!  ;)  I mean, just for laughs, a surface to air cannon!!

* unless 70's a big guy and it can be lifesize!!

By the way Bobo, the USS Wisconsin link in your post on the Wesley site was hilarious, as was your message- "It's going to be a bit hard to off-load"   ;D

Good stuff.

Maybe the NCAA took out their revenge on UWW by placing the Warhawks in the lowest of the brackets as the number 2 seed so they would, if their seeding held out, have 2 less UWW home games to have to deal with the issue. It wouldn't surprise me for a second!!  ;)

I am suprised no one has brought up "shoegate" '05 this week.

At least this time, Wesley will not be able to complain if they bring the wrong cleats to the game.

Are you surprise that YOU brought it up? Now you'll be able to complain that we talking about a subject that you started.  You are like that guy at the party who laughs at all his own jokes. ::)

wesleydad

how is uww going to fair against the #1 d in the country.  likely to be as good as ncc and they gave uww plenty of trouble last week.  if they can not run the ball, how does that effect their chances of winning.  i know, you are going to pound the rock, blah, blah, blah.  but what happens if you cant.  also, can they defend the pass, first 2 games of playoffs bring that into question.  the stats look to be equal, i agree they only compare apples and oranges, but umhb fans felt they were going to have no trouble scoring and they had trouble getting 9.  i know all that doesnt matter because uww smoked wesley in 05 and 06 and eventhough few if any players are still playing it will be the same result.

WD, anybody ever mention that you tend to have a passive/aggressive streak?

emma17

Wesleydad, I like the question and you raise fair points.

Although past results are no guaranty of future performance, I remember a certain UWW team that took the field in 2007 against a team many thought was the best ever from Mt Union that had a defense that gave up somewhere around 4 pts. per game.

So another question may be, will Wesley's gaudy defensive statistics hold true against an opponent like UWW?

wesleydad

passive/aggressive not sure.  a pain in the butt, now i have definitely been called that.  just looking for some real talk, instead of the cannon and shoegate stuff.  if that is passive/aggressive i guess then i am guilty.

wesleydad

emma17, i have the same question.  will they be able to keep playing at the level they have been playing at.  can they handle the big lineman that uww always has?  that question can not be answered until saturday.  and stats dont cover that stuff.  can wesley's quickness spell trouble for the big lineman?  that what makes this fun, all we have is pure conjecture.  glad it gets played out on saturday.
