I agree Piloto was very impressive. Lots of poise for a kid who has never really played.

Thanks for the segue, USee! :D

My initial reaction (subject to revision after reflection on today's games) is that UMU is the favorite for a two word reason: Cecil Shorts.  To the extent that UWW has a 'soft spot' it would seem to be the secondary (see Ray and Watts).  And NCC proved they could be held in check until the defense finally wore down (protecting a short field too many times will eventually do that :().

Thanks to greater depth (I assume), UMU will probably not fail defensively in the 4th quarter.  And I just don't see how UWW is going to keep Shorts from doing a Garcon on you.

Remember what Garcon did, or didn't do in his last game against UWW?  4 catches 30 yards, zero TD's...nearly a non-factor in the Warhawks win.  It will be nice if CS pulls a Garcon like that in his final game!!   ;D
The right prescription for shutting down an NFL caliber WR in 07 was to finally, after two previous attempts, win the line of scrimmage and get enough pressure on their QB to force him to pull the ball down and run for his life!  I suggest that we put that in the game plan again Saturday.  ;) Mount QB's don't have a lot of experience with that kind of thing.   ;D

And BoBo, my karma was untouched!   ;) :-*
At least last night, got a few dings though during the week.

Mt. Union/Bethel highlights:

A red-shirt sophomore, Piloto replaced Seaman and was suddenly in his first "real" game since high school three years ago. His first three series against Bethel's No. 4-ranked defense produced nothing but punts as he battled nerves and wind alike.

"On a humorous side, he usually throws three or four incompletions in a row in practice," Kehres said of his strong-armed, 6-6 quarterback. "I said let's hurry and get these out of the way.

"We were like, what can he do well? Well, he can throw the deep ball. So let's throw deep.

"And all heck broke loose there for a little while."

Of course the UWW TEAM earned the berth in the Stagg Bowl. The FANS, however, are who I am referring to with the "whine" comment. Learn the difference, know the difference, live the difference.

BoBo

The Stagg Bowl pick'em has been posted. Eight (8) points for picking the correct winner and 7 bonus questions worth 2 points each make it a wide open, free-for-all, no holds barred, battle royale minus the cage, final saturday. So, get your picks in no later than game time on 18 Dec to be counted. Good Luck to all. If you want to keep your picks secret, PM them to me instead of posting them on the pick'em page!!

P.S. Grand Prize to the winner - bragging rights for at least one year!!  ;)

Well, at least the TEAM proved, on the field, that the FANS had a point when they, "whined," about the seedings.
Could have gotten ugly around here otherwise.....................LOL   ;)

There is a difference?    ::)

Retagent, I think the fans earned it too. Every great fan feels the joy and the pain as they give support through the whole process.
Heck, that's probably where Bobos karma went, sacrificed to the team.

Bullis was an assistant at UW-RF for several years before joining the WARHAWK staff.

Kehres is an interesting finalist.

Yeah, you'd think Kehres would be in line for a more high profile position...unless this is some kind of ploy to raise River Falls up to keep UWW out of future Stagg Bowls  ;)

His dad needs to stop giving the assistant coaches Friday night off on those long road trips.  Apparently they need just as tight a curfew as the players! :D
