For those who want to relive Coppage's mad dash that put the game away.

WOW....I remember when LL was chosen as the HC.  There was MUTINY afoot on this board.  I could go back and post all the CRAZY talk that was posted, but I will save many of you the embarassment.   ;D

I have an idea......let's erase the last four years with LL, and REPLAY those games with the "other guy" at the helm.  I gotta believe Mount's chances would be better.   ;)

No disrespect to Zweifel, but LL was the best thing that happened to UWW.

hard to argue with that...3 titles in 4 years.

To be fair, UWW is the best thing that happened to LL as well.  Let's not forget, the table was set when he arrived.

Lets get this straight...Stan had a HUGE  hand in getting to the Stagg the first two years! But had absolutely nothing to do with anything after that.  AND...Dinkel, Borland, & Nelly have been there through it all, Huge Kudos to them!! Lance definately helped the program take the next step. And let's not forget the balls it took Plinske to hire the RIGHT coach for the job!

And how is his program doing so far?

He's gone 9-11 overall and 7-9 in IIAC play.  Of the 99 players on this year's roster 79 were either freshman or sophomores so they are still very young.  After two relatively successful seasons (6-4, 5-3 in 2006 and 7-3, 5-3 in 2007) the team he inherited went 2-8, 1-7 in 2008.

Here's one writer's take on the UWW/UMU Stagg Bowl legacy from the past 6 years.  He basically says he's tired of the repeat

I tend to really disagree with him... I certainly don't think it's getting tiresome, even from a non-Warhawk/Raider fan.  I actually think that what we've gotten with football the past several years is better than, say, basketball, where certain quadrants of the bracket are overloaded with top teams.  Of course, it's never going to be perfect, with 1 through whatever seeded and high playing low, etc, because of the travel restrictions, but at least with football, we know we have a true championship, where the two best teams battle it out!

I wonder how he would feel if Point went on an extended run in basketball and met up with Williams six years in a row.....   ::)  I'm sure he wouldn't write an article talking how he is sick of seeing the Pointers play for the championship!!!

This guy's an a$$ clown....he calls UWW's first four playoff games "glorified scrimmages"  ???

How about little respect to the third and fourth ranked teams in the country, as well as two Gagliardi trophy finalists?

Pat Coleman

Clearly he didn't actually pay any attention to this year's playoffs.

In the 6 years I have been watching this was the toughest group of games to the championship in my opinion.....there really were not any blowouts like in the past......It appears to me that overall the competition is getting better.......

His point is dulled by his inability to use facts to back up his thesis. If he doesn't like the six straight title games, that's one thing. He's not necessarily alone in that sentiment.

But Whitewater was tied or trailing in the fourth quarter of two of their four pre-Stagg games this season. In fact, they've played a number of close playoff games over the years (24-21, 17-14, 16-7, 30-27, 20-10). Mount had a couple of close games in 2006 as well.

It's a lazy, misinformed piece, which is typical when people who don't really follow a sport attempt to jump in randomly and offer commentary. He makes no mention of any scores, coaches, teams, players, etc. Probably just a reporter on a deadline who needed to file something

I responded to him pointing out that UWW could have been eliminted each and every year. Congrats on an incredible run Warhawks.

Yea, I was thinking that as well. But then I thought of the road that the 2005 team took to Salem....
