I was present at all five open forum interviews. Coach K. impressed most people that I talked to. I asked the question about what goals he had in coaching. He was candid, saying "absolutely" when I asked whether he would eventually want to coach in D1. He was the only one who indicated an interest in coaching beyond D3. I give him credit for honesty.

Most thought he would have to be in RF for at least five years in order to turn the program around, and thus have a basis for moving up.

The  rumor today, after Kevin Bullis's very impressive appearance, was that the current coaches at RF were not impressed with Kehres. I think it's between Bullis, Aaron Vicko of Point, and Kehres.

All five candidates could do a good job.

footballscoop.com just named Vince Kehres as DIII 2010 Coordinator of the Year.
His defense wasn't so impressive when the Warhawks saw it.

It wasn't the defense that lost the game.

Agreed if anything I say it was Mount's defense that kept them in the game as long as they did.  But there is only so much the defense could do.  Granted Coppage shredded the defense pretty well.  I watched parts of the game and the defense effectively help him for a time but he just wore them down it seemed.

As I said earlier this very good young squad will be a great veteran squad next year. Can't wait to see next year's rematch!

My grandson is here!!! Jackson Bret Page was born at 12:28pm today. Obviously he will be a lineman.  He weighed 10 lbs 7 ozs and was 21 3/4" long. Mother and baby are doing great and the father is beaming!  Granddad is pretty happy as well. ;D ;D
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Day old news perhaps, but Vince Kehres absolutely did NOT come off as a used car salesman....just the opposite, in fact.  The poster in question may have confused Kehres with the candidate from Depauw/Butler, who was charismatic and inspirational during his appearance in a public forum.  The statement that UWRF assistants were "not impressed" with Kehres is also inaccurate.  In fact, they agreed with the basic principles Kehres set forth. However, I was told the atmosphere was strained and open give-and-take did not occur. A lot was apparently said about the negatives that hamstring UWRF's ability to compete with sister schools in the WIAC.

Ahhhh......so I could be interpreting what you are saying incorrectly...but it sounds like VK said......"we need A....B.....C......D...and we can make this program into a successful, winning, self-sustaining entity."

The answer was....ummm.....how about A...and maybe half of B....would that work?

fredfalcon

No candidate came off as a used car salesman. And the "statement" about the UWRF coaches' opinion of VK was a rumor, not a statement.

The current Falcon asst. coaches are not on the selection committee, but it's my understanding that a few players are on it, though I'm not sure about that.

First hand--VK was terrible in the coaches meeting.  He had NO answers about recruiting or on how to resurrect the program.  These are not rumors --they are facts.  The same answers were asked in all of the coaches meeting with the candidates.  All the other candidates answered the questions thoroughly.

I hope this ends the rumors--the above is the truth of what happened.

For the record it wasn't me who said VK sounded like a used car salesman.  I simply found the comment on another blog and added it to the discussion that had started.  I, personally, have no clue how Vince came across.  I'm simply hoping that RF does not select Kevin Bullis because I kind of like what he's doing as our run defense coordinator and linebackers' coach.  Plus I think his son has the potential to be a very good high school athlete at our local school.

How exciting!  Congrats to you, Gandpa, and to your wonderful family!  WOW, a very big boy.  I just got a new Grandnephew and he weighed in at a measly 6 lbs, 9 ozs.  Guess he will be a kicker.   ;) :D ;D
