Come on, 02.  It could've been worse.

It coulda ...  hmmmm.  How about ..... no ....

Oh, well.  I tried.  You're on your own.   ;D
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Giving credit where it's due- The Packers are the better team. The Bears players AND coaches needed to overachieve yesterday for a victory- and they didn't. How about the Pack dominating the special teams game- the punting and coverage was superb.

It looks like whitewater fans can stop worrying about Coach Leipold leaving as  he has lost out on the head job at Gardner Webb. This came from footballscoop.com this morning.
Gardner-Webb: We have confirmed that Ron Dickerson Jr. accepted the head coaching job at Gardner-Webb.

I honestly don't blame Lance for looking at other jobs. Although I was hoping he would be like his two college coaches and be a l;ifetime warhawk. Although when in your first four years as a head coach you go to four straight national championships. You become a wanted coach. So in a way thats good for him. Although bad for the program as other WIAC schools can use that fact against them in "recruiting" potential student athletes.

No, 2 days ago it was pretty much a lock... ;)

From footballscoop.com:

"Gardner-Webb: We hear Ron Dickerson Jr may have accepted the Gardner-Webb head coaching job.  We have not confirmed this information yet."

Remember, they earlier reported Leipold had interviewed.

Dickerson was HC at Temple in the mid-90's and spent last year at Lambuth. Has a career record of 15-62. Was a DB on the undefeated Dolphins of 1972.

Whether Cutler was injured was not in doubt. The doctors told him to sit, end of story.

What looked terrible was how he stood around, or sat by himself shivering and did not participate anymore in any way. He should have hit the showers. If he gave a crap he could have tried to offer at least SOME help and encouragement to Hanie who was sitting right next to him struggling with the plays, and alignments, and calls. Nope, he just sat there as if he was dead. That man is not in it for the team.

riiiiggghhhtt...b/c the 4 second clip that FOX showed explains the WHOLE situation, and I suppose you were on the sidelines and in the lockeroom....please  ::)

Infact, it was later explained, that he was helping Hanie. It's just unfortunate that FOX didn't have the cameras on him at that particular time.

I suppose Clifton wasn't in it for the team either, b/c he didn't play most of the game??? I don't think I saw him helping his replacement on the sidelines on how to pass block Peppers.....sorry, but that's a rediculous thing to say.

Enjoy your team playing in the Super Bowl, leave Cutler alone....nobody was there, and it's not fair justifying a player based on various 4 second clips when the camera was on him while we were sitting on our couch at home.

I don't care about Cutler.  That's the bears issue.  In fact with a QB rating just over 31 I wish he would have returned.  However for the record Clifton did return to play in the game and he did play more snaps than his replacement.

A couple quick comments 02:

When you add up all the 4 second clips (and most were much longer than 4 seconds) it felt like the cameras were on Cutler more than the game!! Frankly speaking, FOX gets the dead horse award for that.

We may not have the credentials to be making comments about Cutler, especially considering most of us were watching the game as a couch potato, but I believe the current/former NFL players do have the credentials - they have spoken loud and clear. No one but you has made critical comments about Clifton (undeserving IMO to say the least - see below)

Leave Cutler alone? When you're the franchise QB of an NFL team, smack in the public eye, you lost your right to be left alone after such a public display on national - no worldwide - television. Perception is more important that reality. However, in reality, the cold hard fact is that he was having a horrible game up to that point. Combine that with the fact he sat on the bench, looking half asleep, it's only natural he would get most of the football world - commentators, writers, players, fans - talking. Personally, I couldn't care less about Cutler - I don't consider him to be that good. I'm glad he's on your team and not mine. However, as a human being, I do feel sorry for him. Unfortunately, it might be the biggest career defining moment of a player with already a sack full of career defining moments.

Chad Clifton has nothing to apologize for - after he returned from the locker room getting his noggin and neck checked out, FOX showed him one time getting some hits in with a teammate...the next offensive series, he was back in the game. As an offensive tackle, he just isn't going to get the air time as the starting QB. Plus, considering he left the field right after the TD, he didn't exactly have an opportunity to discuss the finer points of blocking Peppers with his backup.

BTW, how much to you think Peppers gets fined for his hit on Rodgers? $25,000? $50,000? Chump change for sure. But a pretty blatant helmet to helmet contact and clear violation of the new rule. The thought going around my home as we watched the game was that it looked like he was definitely attempting to knock A-Rod out of the game. That hit had to sting.

Thanks Raider...I've never quite gotten over that Broncos Super Bowl loss after all these years. We should already have 13 going on 14!!  ;)

Yup, I didn't see them show him helping one time. He just sat there looking into space. No encouragement of others. The camera wouldn't get off him. There was no sense of leadership. I guess thats why this is really Urlacher's team. Now, that man is a class act. I would swig beers with him anytime.

As for the NFL experts, they saw the same thing we did while they sat on their expensive couches...they weren't there on the sidelines nor in the locker room. They saw what FOX wanted them to see.

I'll agree that Cutler's attitude and perception doesn't help him at all. He's an easy guy for the media and fans to target when things go wrong for the Bears. that doesn't mean he could of played...infact he did attempt to play a couple of series before being pulled for good.

I wasn't making critical comments about Clifton, I was being sarcastic...trying to make a point that with limited knowledge on what happened no one should question Jay coming out and jump to conclusions that he quit. Just like no one questioned the Packers' best O-lineman when he exitted, as no one should of.

I think everyone is making a big deal out of nothing, he got hurt, doctors and coaches benched him, and that was it....Like Badgerwarhawk said..."who cares."  bears lost b/c cutler sucked

As far as the hit...yea he'll get fined (the amount is irrelevant, it's chump change). Running at full speed i'm sure it's not always easy for a 6'7" athlete to get down low enough to hit someone legally all the time. It was the right call though on the field, no doubt about it.

I honestly feel bad for Jay Cutler. Leave the man ALONE. He was hurt and the trainers made a decision to keep him out. The talking heads and everyone else like J.D. Drew who was at home watchign the game should just SHUT UP.
I mean if your sick are people going to publically criticize you on twitter and national T.V. NO. So everyone should just leave cutler ALONE.
I relate this to sports officiating. Everyone on the opposite side of the fence or in the stands yells and complains about them. It's easy to do, when your not in that profession. Just like I told a baseball mom one time at a turnament. I want to come over and complain about your cooking constantly and see how you like it. She shut up pretty quickly.
UNLESS YOUR IN THE BATTLE as a PLAYER or a Sports Official. JUST SHUT UP and let them do their job. There is a reason they are doing it and your not.
