With all the Bears and Packers fans still going at it a bit over various aspects of last week's game, I thought I'd bring a bit of levity and a unique aspect of the rivalry.  Here is a cool article on my uncle, who won Championships with both the Packers (Curly Lambeau was his coach) and the Bears (George Halas was his coach).

As bitter as it sometimes gets, I love the historical aspects of the rivalry and the stories of the "olden days" are awesome!

Our family has had quite a few laughs about Butch's "relationship" with Curly!

Wow, how cool is that?  Quite a rich football history your family tree has, BP!

My background makes it pretty easy to lose perspective at times!  But it also helps give a keen appreciation for the special relationships formed and lessons learned when people come together, work, sacrifice, put team first, and go to battle with a common goal.

And besides, football is fun to follow and a BLAST to play!

Anyone seen or heard anything about the championship apparel being sent out?

And the game DVD isn't available yet, either .... 

I haven't received an e-mail that they have sent it out yet. With orders closing on the 14th, they probably waited to print until then.  As for the DVD, I remember it taking months before they got it done.  Just hope is it the right game. 

If you are looking for a great sports story, Secretariat has come out on DVD and I highly, highly recommend it!  "The Sport of Kings," may not be the NFL but after watching it, I defy anyone to say that horse was not an athlete! The back story about him and his female owner and how he came to be the greatest racehorse of all time is amazing.   Seriously, you couldn't make that stuff up!

Did anyone else watch that embarrassment called the NFL Pro Bowl game?

To think the state of Hawaii paid the NFL $4,000,000 for the rights to host the game!! I was going to say those players looked like a bunch of circus clowns, but that would be demeaning to circus clowns. That was a lot of really bad football, IMO!!

I know we are in the early stages of football withdrawal, but there is simply no way the Pro Bowl is worth watching.  Never has been.  Actually, those Senior Bowls and Blue-Greys and stuff are unwatchable, too.  They may help pro scouts, but that's it.

IMHO, The NFL should make the selections, but do away with the game!

that's one thing I never got into, watching all star games (for any sport).

I saw some highlights of the NHL all-start game, and the defense just stood there while the opposing team just skated around them....what a waste of time. similar to the NBA all-star game...very lame.

Because UWW decided to stay in Div III, Lance stayed on as coach, Levell stayed at RB and you'll see just how lucky you were that Matt Blanchard wasn't able to play in the 2010 Stagg.
