I didn't sit in on any of the UWL interviews, and read all four stories on the candidates... Also watched the comments they made on tv recaps. That being said, I took away something from each of them that I liked.

Kehres obviously has been in a winning program and knows what it takes; can he translate that into a head coaching position?

Detwiller, having played at Platteville, has an appreciation for UWL; he thinks he can bring in kids to build on and continue what he believes is a great tradition. He's been with with a team that has had success in Wartburg, too...

Moreland has the contacts and has been recruiting for a D1 school (Western Michigan) and has traveled throughout Wisconsin, so that bodes well for his case.... As do his NFL experience and his high school career at Marquette HS.....

My favorite is based merely on my first impressions of what I've seen, without any inside knowledge - Jennison. He impressed me in a comment he made about his coaching ambitions. He could be sucking up, ha, but he said UWL has always been the job he's wanted, over the Bigtime D1 programs... But he's a UWL grad, and was on two title teams, so he may have that intangible aspect of having a deeper wanting to see his school succeed again.... He's also the only one of the four with head coaching experience, with a stint at UWEC, too, as an assistant...

We shall see...

Sounds like they have 4 tremendous choices and it may be hard to go wrong with anyone of them.  New stadium and new blood at the coaching level will go a long way in helping the Eagles find their way back to the top of the WIAC, I believe.

Sad day out of Whitewater, WI.

David Kachel was a major reason why UWW athletics is what it is today.

It's a very sad day. I've been praying for Dave and his family for quite awhile now.  As generous as he was and as much of a difference as he made with his giving at UW-W, who he really was and the most important things he did will never find their way into a newspaper.

My thought and prayers go out to Dave's entire family at this very dark time.  He has meant so much to the university, athletic departments and to the town of Whitewater.   He will be greatly missed.

I don't have any solid reason to suspect so but I just don't see Kehrnes getting the job.  Of course I could be totally mistaken.  It wouldn't be the first time and I doubt it would be the last.

Really sad to hear about David Kachel's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. His philanthropy around UWW and the Whitewater community will be fondly remembered for a long time.

It's less than 21 hours (unless it's a longer pre-game than usual) until the opening kickoff of the Super Bowl. Hopefully, by this time tomorrow, the Packers will be well on their way to victory and their 13th NFL Championship and 4th Lombardi Trophy. The sun will still rise and set tomorrow like it does every day & every day after, but a win will make that sunset and sunrise a bit more beautiful each and every day. Hopefully, it is a great game like so many of the professional commentators, writers and analysts think it will be. But here's hoping the good guys in green and gold come out on top.

I know everyone has seen this clip dozens of times, but it always gets me pumped up - even my dog goes nuts when he hears it. Inch by Inch is all it takes. WARNING: For mature audiences only!!  :)

I have heard that Jennison did not get the job, but I have not heard which of the other three got offered.

Just caught this flick again last night.
Best of luck to all my wonderful Cheesehead friends tonight.  Hope you and your team have a great night, even though, I know there will be no living with all of you on here and in the Perk if they win!  And for selfish reasons, I hope the Pack wins by at least two TD's.  Then, we Bears fans, can say that we played the Super Bowl Champs tougher, 3 times!!! ;)
